Abstract

THE EFFECT OF UTILIZATION OF ACETIC ACID (CH3COOH) SOLUTION IN SHRIMP WASTE MEAL PROCESSING AS A FEED ON CRUDE PROTEIN, CALCIUM AND PHOSPHORUS CONTENT.An experiment was conducted to determine the effect of different level of acetic acid solution in the processing of shrimp waste meal. Shrimp waste material was in the form of leftover meat, skin, head, and other unutilized parts of shrimp. Research was arranged using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments: A0 = distilled water without acetic acid solution, A1 = 5% acetic acid solution, A2 = 10% acetic acid solution, and A3 = 15% acetic acid solution. Each treatment was replicated 4 times. Tukey’s test was employed to analyze treatment differences. Variable measured were: crude protein, calcium, and phosphorus content of shrimp waste. Research result showed that acetic acid solution level significantly affect protein, calcium, and phosphorus content of shrimp waste. Crude protein content of A2 was significantly (P < 0.05) higher compared with A0, A1, and A3, but significantly (P < 0.05) reduced calcium and phosphorus content of shrimp waste meal at the higher level. It can be concluded that utilization of 10% acetic acid solution in shrimp waste meal processing gave the best result with protein content of 56,37%, calcium 2,98%, and phosphorus 0,98%. Abstract

FERMENTATION PERIOD EFFECT OF BANANA LEAF IN RATION ON BROILER FEED EFFICIENCY. This study was done to evaluate the fermentation period effect of banana leaf in ration on broiler feed efficiency. Animals used in this study were sixty broilers (Hubbard strain) at the age of three week old. Research was conducted using completely randomized design involving four treatments with five replications in each treatment. Treatments used were as follows: Ration containing banana leaf without fermentation (R0), Ration containing banana leaf fermented at five days (R1), Ration containing banana leaf fermented at ten days (R2), and Ration containing banana leaf fermented at fifteen days (R3). Data were analyzed by variance analysis. Significantly difference treatment effects on variable measures were tested using honestly significant difference (HSD). Variables measured were feed consumption, average daily gain, and feed efficiency. Results showed that that treatments had significantly difference (P<0,01) on feed consumption, average daily gain and feed efficiency. It can be concluded that ration containing banana leaf fermented at ten days produce the best feed efficiency of broilers. Keyword : Fermented banana leaf, feed efficiency, broiler

Abstract

EFFECT OF MOLASSES ADDITION ON PHYSICO-CHEMICAL QUALITY OF BANANA PEEL (mussa paradisiaca formatypica) SILAGE. Molasses had been used previously in animal feeds. The present study was conducted to determine physical and chemical composition as affected by the addition of molasses in ensiling process of banana peels. The study was conducted for four weeks at Department of Animal and feed Science Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, University of Sam Ratulangi, Manado. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) arranged by 4x3 factorial with three replications was employed for analysis of varians. The two factors consisted of : A factors (level of molasses addition) were: A0=0%; A1=2%; A2=4%; and A3=6%; and B factors (incubation time) were : B1 = 14 days ; B2 = 21 days; and B3 = 28 days. Tukey’s test was used to analysis treatment differents. Variables measured were : smell, texture, color protein(%) and gross energy (Kcal/kg). The result show that the addition of molasses in ensiling process of banana peels was positively (P<0.05) interacted with incubation times, and affected on smell, crude protein, and gross energy contents, but not affected towards texture and color (P>0.05) of banana peels silage. The addition of molasses up to 6% with incubation time of 28 days gave an intermediate texture and brown color and these could be a good indication of a good or success ensiling process. The addition of molasses up to 6% with an incubation time of 21 days produced banana peels silage with protein content of 6,77% and addition of molasses up to 4% with incubation time 28 days gave gross energy of 4.390 kcal/kg. It can be concluded that addition of molasses up to 6% with incubation time 21 days produced good quality (physically and Chemically) of banana peels silage. Abstract

PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE OF FEMALE QUAILS (Coturnix coturnix japonica) UNDER DIFFERENT LIGTH ILLUMINATIONS. The objective of this study was to evaluate the duration effect of light illuminations on egg production performance of female quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica). Total of 80 female quails at the age of 3 weeks old were used in this study. The total of 4 birds were raised in the cage of 40x30 cm. Birds were randomly put in the cage using completely randomized design for the four treatments consisting of cage without light illumination (R0), cage with light illumination during 4 hours per day (R1), cage with light illumination during 8 hours per day (R2), and cage with light illumination during 12 hours per day (R3). Variables measured were feed consumption, age at first laying egg, egg production and egg weight. Results showed that light illumination did not significantly affect feed consumption, age at first laying egg, egg production and egg weight. Therefore, it can be concluded that production management of female quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) did not need light illumination during 4, 8 and 12 hours per day. Key words: Female quail, Light illuminations, Production performance

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemanfaatan tepung tulang dari berbagai sumber terhadap performa ayam dara ras petelur. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Singkil I Lingkungan V Manado, selama 6 Minggu dari tanggal 19 Agustus sampai tanggal 2 Oktober tahun 2020 menggunakan 84 ekor ayam petelur strain NOVOgen umur 12 minggu dipelihara sampai umur 18 minggu. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri dari 3 perlakuan dan 7 ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari R1: dicalsium fosfat, R2: tepung tulang komersial, R3: tepung tulang limbah hasil perikanan. Variabel yang diukur yaitu, konsumsi pakan, pertambahan berat badan, konversi pakan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan bahwa performa ayam dara ras petelur yang diberikan sumber kalsium fosfor berbeda dalam ransum memberikan pengaruh yang tidak nyata (P>0.05) terhadap konsumsi pakan, pertambahan berat badan, konversi pakan. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa tepung tulang ikan limbah industri perikanan dapat digunakan sebagai sumber kalsium fosfor menggantikan dicalsium fosfat dan tepung tulang komersial menghasilkan performa yang sama terhadap ayam dara ras petelur.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kecernaan bahan kering, nilai retensi nitrogen dan energi metabolis (AMEn) ransum ayam pedaging yang menggunakan tepung kulit nenas (Ananas comosus L. Merr) sebagai pengganti sebagian jagung. Penelitian ini menggunakan 20 ekor broiler unsexed, strain Cobb berumur 5 minggu, dan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan yaitu: R0= 50% Jagung, dengan 0 % kulit nenas, R1=45% jagung dengan 5% tepung kulit nenas, R2 =40% jagung dengan 10% tepung kulit nenas dan R3=35% jagung dengan 15% tepung kulit nenas. Variabel yang diteliti adalah: Kecernaan bahan kering, nilai retensi nitrogen dan energi metabolis ransum. Hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan berpengaruh atau berbeda nyata (P<0,05) terhadap nilai kecernaan bahan kering, retensi nitrogen dan energi metabolis. Hasil uji BNJ untuk nilai kecernaan bahan kering menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan R0 (70,62%), R1 (69,04%), dan R2 (65,49%) berbeda tidak nyata, akan tetapi RO berbeda nyata dengan R3 (62,65%), sedangkan R1(69,04%), dan R2 (65,49%) berpengaruh tidak nyata dengan R3 (67,11%). Nilai retensi nitrogen pada perlakuan R0 (75,99%), R1 (73,28%), dan R2 (69,83%) berbeda tidak nyata, akan tetapi R0 berbeda nyata dengan R3 (67,11%), sedangkan R1 (73,28%), dan R2 (69,83%) berbeda tidak nyata dengan R3. Nilai AMEn pada perlakuan R0 (2854,34 Kcal/kg) berbeda tidak nyata dengan R1 (2825,69 Kcal/kg) dan R2 (2706,51 Kcal/kg) tetapi berbeda nyata dengan R3 (2634,73 Kcal/kg). Perlakuan R1 (2825,69 Kcal/kg) tidak berbeda nyata dengan R2 (2706,51 Kcal/kg) tetapi berbeda nyata dengan R3 (2634,73 Kcal/kg). Perlakuan R2 (2706,51 Kcal/kg) berbeda tidak nyata dengan R3 (2634,73 Kcal/kg). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa tepung kulit nenas (Ananas Comosus L. Merr) dapat digunakan sebagai pengganti sebagian jagung dalam ransum ayam pedaging sampai 20% atau penggunaan 10 % dalam ransum dilihat dari nilai kecernaan bahan kering, retensi nitrogen dan energi metabolis.
