Abstract

This article proposes a newly proposed highly effective Zero Voltage and Zero Current switching based Front end converter with a High Frequency Transformer with a Three Phase Three Level Diode Clamped Inverter in photovoltaic applications. The switching scheme is implemented in MATLAB/ Simulink condition. ZVZCS condition is achieved. This type of converter shows high efficiency and very negligible switching loss. Finally ZVZCS based High Frequency Link Diode Clamped Inverter is connected to Grid. An MCI optimized Current controller is used with SVM switching technique.  In This article, responses with three types of controllers (I, PI, PID) have been examined and compared. Simulation results show the effectiveness, and validity of this technique.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijpeds.v5i1.5411

Abstract

Multilevel inverter offers many benefits for high power application compavered to conventional cascaded Multilevel Inverter topology. This paper presents Symmetric CMLI using variable frequency carrier based pulse width modulation techniques. The proposed topology reduces total harmonic distortion and reduced switching losses for seven level inverter. The simulation study of the proposed topology has been carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The main objective of this paper is to achieve number of levels of MLI with reduced number of switches and DC power sources compared to conventional topology.

Abstract

In this paper it proposes a high efficient soft-switching scheme based on zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) and zero-current-switching(ZCS) principle operated with a simple auxiliary circuit extended range for the front-end isolated DC-AC-DC-AC high power converter with an three phase three level diode clamped multi level inverter by using Minority Charge Carrier inspired optimization technique (MCI) with Total Harmonic Distortion(THD),Switching losses, Selective harmonic elimination maintaining with its fundamental as an objective function. Input to the inverter is obtained by the photo voltaic cells and with battery bank. The switching scheme is optimized by MCI technique, analyzed and executed in Matlab and implemented with a digital signal processor (DSP) .Experimental results with different loads have observed and shows its effectives, robustness of the applied technique.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijpeds.v4i1.5019

Abstract

This article is devoted to the Multi-level inverters review and in particular to the form and function of modular multilevel inverters (MMI), with their different topologies, modulation, modeling and control schemes Detailed analysis with their functions of MMI has been made in comprehensive manner with existing literature available till date. All existing methods are compared in detail with proposal for the best methods available. The article has made strategic conclusions on MMI to make the system more robust in operation with less complexity in design and control.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijpeds.v4i1.5020

Abstract

This article proposes a high efficient DC-DC step-up converter with a single switch. This is particularly suited for Photo Voltaic (PV) applications, automotive applications, battery operated vehicles etc., in which voltage is step up from 10V to 500V. This converter operates at 100 kHz due to which switching losses are comparatively high. This topology proposes a scheme to mitigate power losses across the switch and to achieve high efficiency by Zero Current Switching (ZCS) at “Turn ON and Turn OFF” states. Proposed converter uses a single switch to reduce the losses in the converter and observed 98% of overall efficiency in the converter. The proposed converter is verified by its experimental results.
