Abstract

Traffic incidents become typical cases of trauma outside of hospitals. The integrated-emergency nursing system outside of hospitals becomes an important component to minimize any worsening condition of the traumatic victims. However, this pre-hospitalized service system has not been formally established in several cities or municipalities. This research aims to explore various hopes of the trauma-victim aid process in a region that has not applied pre-hospitalized emergency service formally. This research was carried out by implementing a qualitative research method and a case study approach to identify the themes. The research was conducted in Konawe municipality, from February until March 2020. It was done by interviewing eight participants consisting of the citizens, traffic police officers, hospital party, and health agency. Four themes result from this research. Establishing the pre-hospitalized emergency service, socializing the first aid for the incident victims, training dealing with the first aid of taking care of trauma victims, and promoting socialization for all citizens about the emergency numbers of health service institutions which could be immediately contacted when an accident occurs. There is a need for an emergency service system establishment and development.

Abstract

The condition of nurse fatigue includes emotional exhaustion, lack of respect for others, and decreased self-achievement (Burnout) results in the disruption of routine services in the Emergency Room. Routine services in the Emergency Room such as CPR procedures that require special nurse competence with zero tolerance will result in suboptimal results and delays in service. This literature study aimed to determine the relationship between nurse fatigue and nurse competence in the Emergency Room. The method used in writing this Scooping Review is PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). Searching for literature or references focuses on 2018 – 2022 and Original Research. The databases used in the search for references or literature are Pubmed, Proquest, Science Direct, and Google Scholar. The data was analyzed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) for cross-sectional, quantitative and prospective/cohort study. The results from 10 articles show a relationship between the nurses’ burnout level and clinical competence in the Emergency Department. A better arrangement of emergency units work patterns, such as proportional remuneration, regular supervision, rewards mechanism, safe operating conditions, cooperative team, balance nature of work, regular work promotion, and effective communication, could reduce the burnout level of the emergency nurse.

Abstract

To determine the effect of complaint handling training with collaborative and cooperative methods on increasing and retaining staff’s knowledge. This study was a quasi-experimental with pretest and post-test design. The study was conducted from February to April 2019 at Pandaan Hospital. Respondent of the research were 67 hospital staff who often interacted with patients or patient's family. The Friedman's test showed significant differences in values (<0.05). The Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference between pretest compared to post-test 1 and pretest compared to post-test 2 (sig <0.05), while post-test 1 compared to post-test 2 did not show a significant difference in value (sig> 0.05). Complaint handling training with collaborative and cooperative methods affect staff’s knowledge and their knowledge retention
