Abstract

This research aimed to find out: (1) the optimization of SLiMS automation system in Reading Room of Office Administration Education Program Study of FKIP UNS (Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Sebelas Maret University), (2) the constraints encountered in applying automation system in Reading Room of Office Administration Education Program Study of FKIP UNS; and solution to the application of automation system in Reading Room of Office Administration Education Program Study of FKIP UNS in order to be more maximal. This study was a descriptive qualitative research. The sampling techniques employed were purposive and snow ball sampling ones. Data sources employed were informant, place, and event, as well as archive and document. Techniques of collecting data used were interview, observation, and documentation. Data validation was carried out using source and method triangulations. Technique of analyzing data used was an interactive model of analysis. The result of research showed that the application of SLiMS (Senayan Library Management System) automation in Reading Room of Office Administration Education Program Study of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Surakarta Sebelas Maret University included: circulation service, retrieval system (OPAC), member administration, and literature processing. The constraints encountered in SLiMS application are administrator’s poor competency in using SLiMS automation system leading to less maximal system utilization, and inadequate facilities including the availability of one computer unit only, the limited number of reading table available, and the inadequate space condition. Availability of library materials is still lacking in terms of both quantity and content. The attempts taken to deal with such constraints were: to hold training activity for SLiMS automation system conducted by administrators of reading room, to repair and to provide facilities in reading room by proposing it to the central office through study program, for example, increasing the number of air conditioners (AC). In addition, he also asked for donations from alumnus to increase the collection of library materials.

Abstract

This research aims to find: (1) the motivation of the students; (2) the factors that influence students' learning motivation; and (3) efforts being made to overcome the factors that affect the students’ motivation to learn. This research is qualitative with a case study approach. By using the purposive sampling technique and snowball sampling. The results show: (1) student learning motivation consists of pursuing achievement, continuing higher education levels, parents who support education in boarding schools, and teachers who always encourage students to be enthusiastic about learning; (2) the factors that influence learning motivation are students who are more enthusiastic about doing activities outside the classroom, less focused on lessons, a less supportive friend environment for learning, not implementing compulsory school hours, and not being disciplined in organizing extracurricular activities; Three efforts to overcome the factors that influence learning motivation are: conducting coaching through room guardians for students in general and students with problems in particular; maintaining sleep quality; accompanying independent study activities; tiered scheduling and supervision; and collecting data on extracurricular activity schedules in the context of timing student activities.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on changing learning methods from face-to-face earning to online learning. Learning ctivities that were originally carried out in schools because of the pandemic must be carried out at home. This learning method then made many teachers use various online learning media as an alternative learning method which turned out to cause many complaints from students. The application of online learning due to changes in learning methods is a phenomenon that is studied more deeply by researchers using a descriptive qualitative approach. There are three kinds of data collection techniques used in this research, namely observation, documentation, and the interview. All data obtained by the researcher were analyzed in detail, then the validity of the data was carried out using triangulation technique. The findings of this study indicate that Google Classroom learning platform is preferred by teachers over other learning platforms such as Edmodo, WhatsApp Group, Zoom.us, and Google Meet. Google Classroom learning platform is considered effective by teachers and easily accessed by students so that students can learn independently. Many learning features make it easier for teachers to create, modify, and monitor learning so that learning is more interesting, flexible, and a collection of student assignments can be known in more detail.

This research is quantitative research with a correlational research design. The population in this study were all permanent employees of Luwes Gading Supermarkets, totaling 80 employees. The sampling technique used was the non-probability sampling technique with a saturated sample technique. The data analysis technique is a classic assumption test and multiple linear regression with SPSS 25 for Windows. The results showed that: 1) There was a positive and significant effect of communication on employee performance at Luwes Gading Supermarkets. This is evidenced by tcount > ttable (3.618 > 1.991) at a significance level of 5%; 2) There was a positive and significant effect of emotional intelligence on employee performance at Luwes Gading Supermarkets. This is evidenced by tcount > ttable (2,485 > 1,991) at a significance level of 5%; 3) There was a positive and significant influence between communication and emotional intelligence simultaneously on employee performance at Luwes Gading Supermarkets. This is evidenced by tcount > ttable (115.702 > 3.11) at a significance level of 5%. With the effective contribution of Communication (X1) of 45%, the effective contribution of Emotional Intelligence (X2) of 30%, and the relative contribution of Communication (X1) of 60%, the relative contribution of Emotional Intelligence (X2) of 40%.
