Abstract

The production of organic spinach hasn’t been able to keep up with market demand, it is necessary to produce quantity and organic spinach. The research was carried out in the laboratory and greenhouse of the Agriculture Faculty, KH.A. Wahab Hasbullah University in February - May 2021. The purpose of this study was to aims to determine the effectiveness of giving mycorrhizae to spinach plants given various organic fertilizer compositions with the decomposer Trichoderma sp. The research design used was a completely randomized design, with five treatments and five replications. The treatments are; M0 (8 grams of mycorrhizae with 0% organic fertilizer as negative control), M1 (8 grams of mycorrhizae with 25% organic fertilizer), M2 (8 grams of mycorrhizae with 50% organic fertilizer), M3 (8 grams of mycorrhizae with fertilizer organic 75%), M4 (8 gr mycorrhizal with 5 grams of NPK fertilizer as positive control). The results are M2 treatment showed good growth in plant height (18.26 cm), the number of leaves (8.40 leaves), plant wet weight (3.65 gr), and root length (13.69 cm). Mycorrhizal spinach plants are effective in absorbing nutrients available in organic fertilizers 50% of the composition of the growing media, but less effective at 25%,75%, and NPK Mutiara 16:16:16 fertilizer. Organic fertilizers with local Trichoderma sp isolate decomposer are able to provide nutrients needed by spinach plants for their growth. The application of organic fertilizers with a composition of 50% to plants given mycorrhizae is possible to suppress the use of inorganic fertilizers.

Abstract

Simplicillium lanosoniveum is a species of Simplicillium, included in the Cordycipitaceae. This fungus is known to have a dual role as an entomopathogen against insect pests and antagonist against disease pathogens in plants. There are no reports on the negative impact of S. lanosoniveum as biological control. In Indonesia, the research on the two roles of S. lanosoniveum is still limited. Therefore, it is necessary to study the potential of these fungi to be worthy of analysis, based on the results of previous research. The purpose of this study is to provide information about the potential of Simplicillium lanosoniveum as an entomopathogenic fungus and antagonist against plant fungal pathogens, which has various characteristics of pests and diseases in tropical regions. It is hoped that it can increase the diversity of fungi that act as biological agents in Indonesia, in an effort to suppress the use of chemical pesticides.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the morphology of Simplicillium sp. which can be used as a teaching media in the identification of pathogenic fungi, useful in practical technology for the propagation of biological agents. The research was carried out in the microbiology laboratory at Universitas KH. A. Wahab Hasbullah Jombang, June – August 2023. This type of research is qualitative which aims to determine the morphological characteristics of the fungus Simplicillium lanosoniveum CG888 from the collection of the Faculty of Agriculture UNWAHA as a data source. Data collection methods include observations carried out macroscopically and microscopically, and documentation. Data obtained from observations are compared with existing literature in books and supporting literature to identify the data. The results showed that the colonies of the fungus S. lanosoniveum were white on the upper surface, and yellowish on the bottom. The growth of the colony forms a circle, the edges are white with the growth of new hyphae. The texture of the colony is like wavy cotton with thick mycelia. This fungus has hyaline and septate hyphae. They are branched and tend to be arranged regularly, tapering towards the tip, and have phialids. Phialids produce conidia attached to their tips. Conidia are transparent, small and round in shape. Simplicillium lanosoniveum CG888 has chitinase enzyme activity in it. It is hoped that this teaching media can help students to increase their knowledge of the identification and propagation of fungi which act as biological agents. Penelitian dilaksanakan di laboratorium mikrobiologi Universitas KH. A. Wahab Hasbullah Jombang, bulan Juni – Agustus 2023.
