Abstract

The Tarakan island is geographically surrounded by seas has the potential to damage by abrasion. Potential occurring in areas affected by abrasion thus reducing the total land area. Reduced land area has caused difficulties in the development of human space activities  in  the  activity.  The  coastal  area  as  an  area  predominantly  inhabited  by fishermen to settle because it was easy access to the sea. Another advantage of the coastal region has a panoramic coastal give more value from the tourism sector, it is attracting tourists to visit. Tarakan city have coastal of binalatung  to tourist attractions as the beach, which is located in the Eastern city of Tarakan. Attraction area is exposed to abrasion so interesting for the case study research done on the impact of the erosion of the settlement. The study was conducted using remote sensing Google Earth, to the extent that it has impacted the analysis of abrasion, and the condition of the settlement around the attraction. Results obtained in the form of reviews the impact of the area exposed to abrasion with increased abrasion settlement that makes the area a tourist area. Keywords : Abrasion, Google Earth, Settlement.

Abstract

Tremendous gaps remain in our understanding of the foraging ecology of sea turtles. For some species, little progress in the elucidation of diet and foraging habitats has been made since reviews summarized the state of our knowledge more than 20 years ago. These papers will describe how to derivate a mathematics equation to estimate the grazing rate of green sea turtle in a seagrass meadow. The mathematical equation was generated based on observation on the green sea turtle daily feeding activity which correlated with average total time that they allocated for feeding or foraging activity. Through these mathematical equations we can estimate total daily consumption of green sea turtle. Keywords :  mathematic, equation, grazing rate, green sea turtle, feeding activity

Abstract

The aim of the research is to analize community structure derawan seagrass meadow. The research conducted in seagrass meadows of Derawan Island, East Kalimantan Province. The research method was ecological survey. Immensity and condition of the meadows were describe in decriptive analysis. The result of the research indicated that the ± 35 Ha seagrass of Derawan was dominated by H. Uninervis that made up to 86 % contribution to total relative density. H. Uninervis with average density 3.576 ± 115 ind m-2. Long term implication that confirmed this signs is the shifting in species composition for the last 18 years. There is an urgent of doing sea grass ecosystem rehabilitation to maintain the ecological sustainability of sea grass meadows as a habitat and sustainability of green sea turtle population as ecosystem user. Keywords : seagrass meadows, foraging habitat, green seaturtle, species shifting,  ecological sustainability.

Abstract

The study was carry out to describe the wave driven by wind blows at the west side of Tarakan Waters. The modelling analysis using BMKG data which analysed by WRPLOT. From this study we conclude that West Side of Tarakan Water is dominated by wave taht come from west and northwest. The maximum wave height that may hit the west coast of Tarakan is 1,4 m with the probability value only 8,3 %.  Keywords : Wind waves, Tarakan.

Abstract

WorldView-2 sensor, which was launched in October 2009 represents a new achievement in geographic information systems, especially in the marine field. Differences WorldView-2 sensor with sensor-owned satellite that has gone before is located on four new band that has the coastal band, yellow band, red edge band, and near-IR 2 band. Coastal band sensors are specifically designed for applications in the littoral zone or shallow sea. This is very helpful in mapping the depth or bathymetry. This is not only important for navigational purposes but also in seeing the shipping processes of coastal disaster mitigation planning and even in coastal areas such as tsunami and storm surge. This paper gives an overview of how the application of WorldView-2 imagery for mapping shallow sea bathymetry can be done based on methods and approaches that has been already available for the other sensor. Keywords :  WorldView-2, Coastal Band, Bathymetry, Shallow Marine

Abstract

The perception of the coastal regions that identic with poor fishermens, low level of the economy, uneducated and unhealthy environment was as a raw portrait. It also found on coastal area of  Tanjung Palas Timur District of Bulungan. There are factors causing low accessibility of people to markets and capital as well as the informal system formed trading marine fishermen bargaining position unfavorable. This study is intended to find a formulation of draft strategies, programs and action plans in order to facilitate the potential and prospects in the region of the study. The results of this study include potential into capital as a force to be developed as well as the prospects of the existing opportunities to be handled appropriately, provide alternative overcome weaknesses in order to cope with market competition outside of the study area.Key words : coastal area, economic district, strategic of study

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi ekologi makroalga dan lamun seperti persentase penutupan, kerapatan, komposisi jenis serta asosiasi makroalga dengan lamun di Perairan Pulau Panjang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan, pada Bulan Desember 2016 – April 2017 bertempat di perairan Pulau Panjang. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan metode transek kuadrat secara sistematis sampling pada ekosistem lamun. Transek kuadrat yang digunakan adalah transek kuadrat berukuran 0,5 x 0,5 m dengan masing-masing 6 stasiun yang terdiri 3 sub stasiun dan masing-masing sub stasiun terdiri dari 5 pengulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di perairan Pulau Panjang ditemukan 13 jenis makroalga yakni : Hypnea pannosa, Halimeda simulans, Padina boergensenii, Halimeda opantia, Cystoseira sp, Caulerpa sp, Halimeda cylindraca, hypnea sp, Codium sp dan Clorodesmis fastigiata, Sargassum sp, Avrainvillea ercta, Amphiroa sp, dan Caulerpa sp, sedangkan jenis lamun yang ditemukan ada 6 jenis yakni : Cymodocea rotundata, Thalassia hemprichi, Halophila ovalis, Halodule uninervis, Syringodium isoetifolium dan Enhalus acoroides. Kerapatan makroalga yang ditemukan berkisar 10.4 tegakan/m2, sedangkan lamun terdapat pada jenis Thalassia hemprichi dengan kisaran antara 634 tegakan/m2. Penutupan makroalga dan lamun pada perairan Pulau Panjang termasuk dalam kondisi baik/kaya. Asosiasi makroalga dengan lamun yang didapatkan di perairan Pulau Panjang yaitu bernilai negatif artinya saling berkompetensi (bersaing).
