Abstract

Social problems that often occur in Indonesia, especially in society environment is not something new in this modern era. The more sophisticated the development of the times makes children, teenagers and even adults difficult to control their personality that reflects the respect and discipline on the surrounding environment or against themselves will reflect the character of the poor. This will lead to juvenile delinquency, criminal acts, robbery and even free life style that can harm themselves or society. Social problems that often occur in the social environment not only has implications for adolescents but also has an impact on the students behavior at school even the students at elementary schools. Social problems, one of the effect that can cause the student less discipline. The solution for the student discipline at school is a character education. To be able to implement a character education at schools, especially at elementary school, it is necessary a good understanding of character education for the teacher, i.e. understanding of the notion of character education, values of character education, and the development of character education at elementary schools.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and describe about the students’ problem when they speak English. this was because the advanced level Student of University couldn’t speak well when they perform their Proposal Seminar and Also Final Examination at the State Islamic Institute of Metro. The data were taken by having interview with 10 students, interview with the Head of English Education Study Prgram, and questionnaire. The result show that most students from advanced level student couldn’t speak English well when they have their proposal seminar and Final Examination or Munaqosyah was because they wer too worry about making mistakes on their performance because they don’y have enough vocabulary and grammar mstery so it will give impact to their pronunciation and confidence.

Abstract

Language Learning Strategies is simply refers to an individual‘s approach to complete a task. This is an individual way of organizing and using a particular set of skills in order to learn content or accomplish other tasks more effectively and efficiently in school as well as in nonacademic settings. Some previously conducted research found that good language learners actively involve themselves in the language learning process by identifying and seeking preferred learning environments and exploring them. The newly adapted curriculum in Indonesia emphasizes on the discovery learning. This study is aimed to find facts dealing with learning strategies used by high achievers and underachievers, whether there are any differences between the two groups. After research was conducted, the data shows that there are some differences in the learning strategies used by the two groups. The high-achievers uses more varied strategies.
