Abstract

The role of education in producing a quality generation, tough, and character should be maximized. The presence of shifting values or attitudes such as the reduced level of civility and adherence to students by teachers and parents habits, cheating, rapidly resolve problems when the desperate, a brawl between students and others indicated that there was a failure on the educational institutions in creating a human characteristic or Indonesia adopting noble. One of the factors that cause deterioration of character, attitude of learners is a system of education that only emphasizes on the formation of knowledge or intellectual, and less emphasis on the formation of the character/attitude of the students. It can be seen from the planning of learning, the process of teaching and learning activities, learning, and evaluation until the last national exam any more prioritize intellectual development alone. Therefore, there should be a change in the education system, in particular the activities of the learning process in schools, for example, by the integration of the values of the characters in the process of learning in each subject. Mathematics is a subject studied starting base level to the top level. This suggests that subjects mathematics provide knowledge and value in everyday life. The values of the character can be developed through several math learning activities in the classroom, as do the activities on monitoring and investigation to understand a material, mathematical concepts or rules for establishing the value of logical thinking, critical, creative, and innovative.

The model of mathematics which can use in learning mathematics is the wide permanence model, the length permanence model, the model of volume permanence, the model of nulerous permanence, the model of experiment in probability concept, the model of measurement in mathematics, the shapes of geometry and the model of games.

Abstract

Online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic made elementary students even more difficult to master math material. The purpose of this study was to describe how online learning can increase the difficulty of learning mathematics for elementary school students. This research was conducted in a descriptive qualitative manner involving 31 students, 9 parents, and class IV teachers of MIN 4 East Lampung. Interviews and documentation are used to obtain primary and secondary data. Data analysis was carried out in three stages, namely reduction, display, and data verification. The findings of this study are 1) there has been a decrease in mathematics learning outcomes in elementary school students as a result of online learning, 2) an increase in mathematics learning difficulties experienced by students in online learning, and 3) aspects that cause an increase in mathematics learning difficulties in online learning. Thus online learning at the beginning of the Covid-19 epidemic had a negative impact on increasing math learning difficulties for elementary school students.

Abstract

Mathematics textbooks that provide more descriptions of material and routine problems used so far cannot facilitate students in active learning activities. The lack of active students in learning activities causes creative thinking skills not to develop optimally. This paper aims to describe how problem-based learning textbooks can facilitate students in solving problems with different or varied solutions and even something new to foster creative thinking skills. This problem-based textbook has been developed and is one of the research products of IAIN Metro lecturers in 2021. This research is an experimental study consisting of experimental and control groups. Data collection techniques using tests and observations. The test data were analyzed using the mean difference test using the Mann-Whitney formula, while the observation data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach. The findings of this study are constructive learning activities and open problems contained in problem-based learning textbooks significantly improve creative thinking skills. It is shown that the increase in creative thinking skills of students who study using problem-based learning textbooks is substantially higher than students who study using other textbooks. Thus, problem-based learning textbooks contribute to improving students' creative thinking skills.
