Abstract

Korosi merupakan masalah besar bagi bangunan dan peralatan yang menggunakan bahan dasar baja seperti gedung, jembatan, mesin, pipa, mobil, dan sebagainya. Untuk mengatasinya  dapat digunakan inhibitor yang ramah lingkungan yaitu ekstrak biji kakao  karena dapat membentuk senyawa komplek khelat dengan ion besi. Ekstrak biji kakao menghalangi masuknya oksigen dan ion-ion lain yang memicu terjadinya korosi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efisiensi inhibisi korosi baja oleh ekstrak biji kakao dalam medium air laut, serta analisis morfologi permukaan baja yang dilapisi dan tanpa dilapisi ekstrak biji kakao dalam medium air laut. Metoda yang digunakan adalah gravimetri, yaitu berdasarkan pengurangan berat (weight loss) baja sebelum dan sesudah korosi. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh, ekstrak biji kakao dapat menurunkan laju korosi baja dalam medium laut dengan efisiensi inhibisi korosi 46,11% pada perendaman selama 7 hari. Dan dari analissis morfologi permukaan baja dengan SEM pada pembesaran 5000x memperlihatkan perbedaan morfologi permukaan baja yang dilapisi ekstrak biji kakao lebih terlindungi dibandingkan baja tanpa dilapisi ekstrak biji kakao, jenis korosi yang terbentuk merupakan korosi merata dan korosi celah.

Abstract

Research of study adsorption of ion Pb2+ by zeolite 4A has been done. This study aims to determine maximum of pH and concentration of Pb2+ for adsorption by zeolite 4A. This study uses variation pH of 4,8; 5,0; 5,2; 5,4 and 5.6; and variation concentrations of 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65 ppm. Concentration of the adsorbed Pb2+ was calculated from the difference between the initial Pb2+ before the adsorption with the residual concentration of Pb2+ (measured). Measurement of residual concentration of Pb2+ using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). The result showed the maximum pH is 5,4 by the adsorption capacity is 14.7511 mg/g zeolite, and maximum initial concentration of Pb2+ by the adsorption capacity is 15.6438 mg/g zeolite.

Abstract

Cocoa (Theobroma cacao) is one of the many plants contain catechin. Catechin can form a complex with iron, a complex is formed on the surface of steel and the complex adsorbed may block the entry of oxygen, ions Cl- ion and other corrosive, so the rate of corrosion can be slowed down. This research aims to determine the efficiency of inhibition corrosion of steel by cocoa extract in hydrochloric acid medium. The method used is based on the gravimetric, namely based on the reduction of weight (weight loss) of steel before and after with corrosion. Surface analysis the steel is done using stereo microscopes. Of research results obtained that the cacao seed extract may decrease the rate of corrosion of steel in hydrochloric acid medium 0.01 M with corrosion inhibition efficiency 76,21% and results analysis by FTIR spectrophotometer to layer on steel surface indicate a complex formed between Fe-catechin.

Abstract

Corrosion problems can cause serious harm, either directly or indirectly, such as the age of the building construction to be reduced from the planned time, resulting in reduced toughness, and environmental pollution. One way to slow the rate of corrosion is to use the inhibitor extract sawdust. Extract sawdust containing lignin can form complexes with iron from steel and adsorbed on the steel surface thus blocking contact between the steel with oxygen in the air. This study aims to utilize waste wood sawdust as steel corrosion inhibitors, view optical surfaces steel before and after coated inhibitor and determine the efficiency of the steel corrosion inhibition by extract sawdust. The method used to determine the rate and efficiency of corrosion is the gravimetric method, which is based on a reduction in weight (weight loss) of steel. Steel surface before and after the coated sawdust extracts viewed using a stereo microscope with a magnification of 40 times. The result showed that sawdust can be used as a corrosion inhibitor of steel with optimum efficiency of 65,398%, from optical picture can be seen that the steel surface is not coated sawdust extract rougher than the surface of the coated steel.
