Abstract

This research explored the commuting mode preferences of students living near Institut Teknologi Bandung when a new mode of transportation (i.e., carpool) is introduced to the selection list. Six alternative modes were presented: minibus, car, motorcycle, car-based ride-sourcing, motorcycle-based ride-sourcing, and carpool. The data collection process was conducted using a questionnaire-based stated-preferences survey. It included eight sets of labeled scenarios with a number of attributes: travel time, travel cost, waiting time, transfer amount, access and egress time, frequency, congestion time, baggage cost, and parking cost. A total of 1416 observations were acquired for further analysis. A mixed logit (MXL) model with random cost parameter and random error components was used. From the MXL results, we found that travel cost had no significant influence on the selection of commuting mode among students. This result was unforeseen given the characteristics of Indonesian consumers, who are notoriously sensitive to price. However, based on the results for several significant attributes of carpool as well as from the value of travel time savings and demand calculation, we suggest that carpooling is a valid alternative transport mode for campus commuting. As a pioneer study on student commuting mode selection, this study provided valid and dependable evidence on how students around ITB main campus choose their transportation methods. Keywords. angkutan bersama, mahasiswa  ITB, mixed logit, elastisitas, nilai waktu.

Abstract

Individuals, firms, and even countries face scarcity due to limited resources. To overcome this problem, especially in the need for capital resources, firms and countries try to acquire additional capital externally through foreign investment. Previous research has been conducted to examine the effect of foreign ownership on a firm’s decision-making and performance. However, the systematic literature review shows that the results are still inconclusive and bring confusion for firms and governments in determining their strategy for promoting foreign investment. There are two gaps identified surrounding current research on foreign ownership that needs special attention. First, most research considers foreign ownership as an ownership type and puts less attention on the actual ownership types. Second, research has found that different characteristics of the home or host country involved in foreign investment may moderate the relationship between foreign ownership and a firm’s decision-making but only considers a one-sided observation of country characteristics (home or host country only). This research proposes future research agenda in examining how different foreign owner’s ownership types affect a firm’s decision-making, risk, and performance and whether country characteristics differences moderate the relationships between foreign owner’s ownership types, firm’s decision-making, risk, and performance.

Abstract

Financial Robo-Advisor is the technology that integrates machine learning and self-identification to determine investment decisions. This study explores the financial robo-advisor based on bibliometric analysis and a systematic literature review. The method used three steps: determining the keyword, bibliometric analysis of literature metadata using VOSviewer, then collecting and analysing the articles. The bibliometric analysis results show five cluster keywords defined with different colors. In the network visualization, the robo-advisor connects to other keywords: investment, fintech, and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, the systematic literature review shows that the articles are divided into seven research objectives: (1) Law, Regulation, and Policy; (2) Investment Literate and Education; (3) Offered Services; (4) Present Risk-Portfolio Matching Technology; (5) Optimal Portfolio Methods; (6) Human-Robo Interaction; (7) Theoretical Design and Gap. Furthermore, this study can be used by academicians and practitioners to find out about robo-advisors based on an academic perspective.

Abstract

The study's objective is the need for critical re-examinations on the sustainability practices of firms that benefit from transparent, accurate, and, importantly, relevant financial and non-financial information including corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance on their reporting. The research will investigate the relationship between sustainable practice and the cost of capital and earnings management as the moderating variable. The samples are 41 state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and private companies listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The source of the data from the annual report and sustainability reporting is obtained from the firm's website. The research is a quantitative study with generalized least square (GLS) random effect of the regression. Findings show that sustainable engagement in Indonesian firms has significant relation to the cost of capital but earnings management is not related to moderating variables' role between them.
