<![CDATA[English for Specific Purposes (ESP) is an English language learning that incorporates elements of learner specific needs and the context of the work environment. ESP for Madura Tourism Promotion has not been developed concretely for Tourism course in English Education Department STKIP PGRI Bangkalan. Madura's growing tourism potential and attracting many domestic and foreign tourists need to be addressed carefully in the preparation of indigenous human resources in its management. This study aims to develop teaching materials specifically to prepare students of the English Education Department STKIP Bangkalan PGRI to be able to equip themselves in communication and tourism management competencies with the language of instruction in English. Teaching materials produced through the needs assessment process involving many parties. In data collection related to communication competencies such as what is needed in the management and promotion of Madura's tourism. The R & D model used is systems approach model with ten sequences of stages available. In the material development stage, researchers also implemented expert validation by involving two expert lecturers in the related fields, namely curriculum and instructional materials development and tourism management. To obtain empirical validation, researchers conducted trials in the class so that learning design revisions were obtained if there were perceived less precise. The teaching materials will become appropriate and professional teaching materials and can be produced to improve the quality of human recource in the tourism sector. Abstrak English for Specific Purposes (ESP) merupakan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang memasukkan unsur kebutuhan khusus pembelajar dan konteks lingkungan kerja. ESP untuk Promosi Pariwisata Madura belum dikembangkan secara konkret dalam mata kuliah English for Tourism di program studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris STKIP PGRI Bangkalan. Potensi pariwisata Madura yang kian berkembang dan banyak menarik wisatawan domestik dan mancanegara perlu disikapi dengan cermat dalam persiapan SDM penduduk pribumi dalam pengelolaannya.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan materi ajar yang khusus untuk mempersiapkan mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris STKIP PGRI Bangkalan untuk mampu membekali diri dalam kompetensi komunikasi dan manajemen pariwisata dengan bahasa pengantar bahasa Inggris.Materi ajar yang dihasilkan melalui proses needs assessment yang melibatkan banyak pihak dalam pengambilan data terkait dengan kompetensi komunikasi seperti apa yang diperlukan dalam pengelolaan dan promosi pariwisat Madura. Model R&D yang digunakan adalah systems approach model dengan sepuluh runtutan tahapan yang ada. Dalam tahapan pengembangan materi, peneliti juga memberlakukan expert validation dengan melibatkan dua dosen ahli dalam bidang yang terkait, yaitu curriculum and instructional materials development dan tourism management.Untuk mendapatkan empirical validation, peneliti melakukan uji coba di kelas sehingga diperoleh revisi desain pembelajaran apabila dirasa ada yang kurang tepat. Materi ajar yang dihasilkan nantinya akan menjadi bahan ajar yang tepat dan profesional dan bisa diproduksi secara massal untuk membantu meningkatkan kualitas SDM Madura dalam bidang pariwisata.]]>

<![CDATA[This research was done to investigate the students’ perceptions and barriers in using Edmodo in their writing class. Besides, the barriers can be also the main points within the implementation of their writing class process. Edmodo is a free and secure learning platform that can be used in all lesson especially in university. It provides a very simple ways and simply make good pathway for teachers and students to communicate for a particular lesson especially for writing because the constructive comments were already stated within the platform. Since the focuses are perceptions of the students, a qualitative method was used through the use of documentation and interview were utilized to gather data. The findings showed that they strongly agreed that Edmodo very helpful in writing class, they can directly obtain the feedback, save their data safely and they can read it after a while and the rest perceptions will be explained more clearly.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of using videoscribe media learning on students' reading comprehension. We can create the content of reading use videoscribe with combine text and image in one video, so teaching learning proses doesnt monotonous and student can enjoyed to read. So it can help improved students reading comprehension. The design of this study was Pre-Experimental design. Thus, one classrooms containing the total of 15 students of eight grade at SMP AN NUR FUADI Bangkalan were selected as the sample. In collecting the data, pre-test and post-test were utilized to assess students’ comprehension abilities before and after the treatment. In analyzing the data, the t-tests (paired sample, and independent sample) were run in SPSS. The result is score post-test students is higher than pre-test score of studets. So the researcher conclude videoscribe media can applied in teaching reading to help teacher improved students reading comprehension.]]>

<![CDATA[Politeness is a person's politeness in speaking, so that between the speaker and the listener do not feel threatened (offended) in politeness, there are two opinions namely the politeness strategy and the politeness principle. Both are the same, only differ in classifying. Politeness strategy consists of off record, on record, negative politeness and positive politeness. The politeness principle, consist of the tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, modesty maxim, sympathty maxim and agreement maxim. This study examined conversations between lecturers and students. The samples of this research were from screenshot of the teaching-learning conversation between lecturers and students via whatsapp. Collecting the data, analyzing and classifying were conducted word by word. The results of this study were students and lecturers often used language clearly and to the point, which is included on the record, namely using the sentence directly and also they used politeness priciple]]>

<![CDATA[The objective of the research to compare of Zimmer twins website tool as digital storytelling than use nondigital in writing text narrative on students writing ability at the eleventh grade of MA Yayasan Sirojul Islam Sukolilo 2018/2019 academic year. Zimmer twins media is an animated movie maker based on the website for the students to create their short stories in movies with many emotion, etc. The sample of this research the Eleventh of MA YASI those are XI- 1 class as the experimental class, and the X1-2 class as the control class consisted of 20 students. The method in this research was a quantitative method. In addition, the design used was quasi-experimental research, and the instrument used a test. The research was taken by using non-random sampling. Moreover, this research was conducted through the following procedures: giving pre-test, applying treatments and giving post-test. The data analyzed and processed by using the statistic data calculation of ANCOVA by SPSS 23 program. The significant was shown by the students post-test mean in experimental class is 76.55 and the mean post-test in control class is 70.55. The result of the statistical hypothesis testing found from p-value was 0.000. It is lower than the level significant of 0.05. If p-value ≤ from the level significant 0.05. It means that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. <![CDATA[Melakukan penelitian tidak semudah menulis artikel. Menulis sebuah artikel dari hasil penelitian mungkin menjadi sesuatu yang sangat sulit bagi mereka yang belum pernah mengenalnya. Dalam menyusun susunan bagaimana sebuah artikel harus dibuat atau disusun guru perlu disesuaikan dengan cara bagaimana mereka seharusnya bekerja melakukan sebuah artikel. Melalui workshop online ini, tim pengabdi mencoba membantu para guru agar terbiasa menyusun sebuah penelitian menjadi sebuah artikel yang siap dipublikasikan. Kegiatan ini dilakukan secara online di mana terlebih dahulu guru diberikan penjelasan bagaimana seharusnya sebuah artikel dibuat. Setelah itu, mereka dibagi menjadi beberapa kelompok dengan tutornya untuk membantu mereka mengerjakan lokakarya. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk memberikan dan menambah wawasan pengetahuan tentang bagaimana menulis karya ilmiah utamanya menyusun artikel dari hasil penelitian. Metode yang dipakai dalam kegiatan ini adalah metode ceramah, diskusi, tanya jawab dan penyampaian materi. Hasilnya, salah seorang guru berhasil menyusun penelitiannya menjadi sebuah artikel yang siap dipublikasikan. Workshop ini sangat membantu para guru untuk membuka pikiran mereka tentang bagaimana artikel yang bagus dapat dibuat dari penelitian mereka sendiri. Sebagai kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah bahwa pelatihan ini adalah hal yang memang dinantikan oleh semuanya walaupun kenyataannya menulis karya ilmiah adalah hal yang cukup berat mengingat guru dengan faktor usia dan pekerjaan sekolah lainnya. <![CDATA[This study aims to determine the feasibility of implementing an inductive approach in teaching speaking skills. The qualitative descriptive was used in this study by using content analysis technique. The technique of obtaining data used documentation. The data were analyzed by coding, display, and verification. The data analysis was carried out in depth by using some theories related to the inductive approach in teaching speaking skills. The results of the study indicate the interrelated of the implementation and responses of the students in using this approach. The results show that the inductive approach is very helpful for students in learning to speak English because it is based on the examples given and they have learnt to find patterns in English speaking. By seeing the examples, they also learn how to imitate the way how people say in English and they are actively involved in the teaching and learning process. Furthermore, it is suggested that inductive approach can be used in speaking class. ]]>

This study, therefore, aimed to investigate the usefulness of using portfolios as assessment tools in Basic Speaking lesson in higher education. The data were two lecturers who are teaching Basic Speaking in English Education Department. The data were then analyzed qualitatively since this study observe the natural phenomena happen in English language teaching and interview was also used to obtain more information both from students and lecturers. The results revealed several things, such as portfolios provide students to see their own strengths and weaknesses when they produced the tasks, also provide students to look at closer their own learning within a unique way and hereafter as their critical self-analysis, and last but not least, it provides many information both from the students as their language learning process and lecturers enable to impersonate the process of teaching.]]>
