Abstract

The demands of consumers that always evolving makes Jepara craftsmen have to adjust themselves. This is reflected in the aesthetic expression of products that are no longer homogeneous. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the aesthetic expression of Jepara carving art in an effort to face global challenges. Data obtained through interviews and direct observation in the field. The results of the study show that the carving that has now undergone a change due to adjusting to the demands of consumers and the times. European market dominance influenced European-style furniture so that the expression of Jepara carving tends to be European. However, it also developed a carving motif not fixated on the usual themes that were made in the form of motifs with stylized forms of flora fauna, but now also developed geometric and minimalist designs. There is also a simplification of a form into another form, such as by simplifying carving motifs to serve consumers who want products that are not too full of carvings. This consumer demand motivates craftsmen to always do innovation, so consumers are accommodated and served the satisfaction of their aesthetic taste and craftsmen fulfilled their economic needs. Abstract

Pohon hayat merupakan pohon yang mampu memberikan hayat atau kehidupan bagi umat manusia yang dipercaya memberikan pengayoman dan perlindungan serta mempertebal semangat dan keyakinan masyarakat. Sisa-sisa kepercayaan terhadap pohon ayat itu sampai sekarang. Pada jaman kebudayaan Jawa Islam, kepercayaan terhadap pohon hayat tetap berkembang, bahkan bentuk gunungan wayang yang juga disebut kekayon kemudian ditafsirkan berasal dari bahasa Arab khayyu (kehendak), dan setelah mendapat akhiran an menjadi khayyu-an, khayyun, dan kayon (kekayon). Perkataan kekayon ini berkaitan dengan kayu (pohon), dan gununggan wayang memang menggambarkan sebuah hutan yang lebat. Jadi bentuk gunungan (kekayon) wayang kulit purwa merupakan perkembangan lebih lanjut dari pohon Kalpataru yang sudah terkenal sejak jaman kebudayaan Hindu Jawa . Abstract

The Training of batik aims to provide skills in the making of batikand to enrich the matter of art and culture lesson for the teachers of JurnalHigh School in Gunungkidul. The ability and conpetence in making batikthat mastered by teachers are expected to trigger students's interest for themore enthusiastic in following the batik lesson, and ultimately will improvethe overall quality of the learning of art and cukture.The method that is applied on this activity is the method ofpresentation of the matter of batik, including the matter about history ofbatik, tools and material in making the batik. The method of demonstrationincluding the making of design, and the procedures of the making of batikfrom beginning to end. The method of evaluation is by examining thedifferences in the ability of teachers before and after training.The results shown a significant improvement compared beforetraining, so it can be concluded that this activity improved the ability of theparticipants. The evaluation of the results seen from the assessment tasksthat illustrate the successful practice of material that has been presented. Italso examined the performance and participation of the participants. At theend of the program the team captured meaningful data from theparticipants. It is expected that this training program continues because ofits advantages to improve the quality of the learning of art and culture lessonin Jurnal High School..

Abstract

This Community Service aims to help solve the problems of Educative Teaching Aids (APE) craftsmen at Pedan Klaten, Central Java, who are experiencing turmoil, especially in terms of marketing and maintaining production capacity and quality as well as developing more varied and up to date designs. Considering the potential of these educational aids craft centers need to be developed and get a touch of assistance from various related parties, especially the government and universities, assistance for capacity building and production quality and marketing needs to be done. The method implemented is the method of training and mentoring to the artisans. Community Service Activities to improve the quality of Educational Teaching Aids (APE) products run smoothly and conducively, and are very useful in providing solutions to partner problems, related to capacity building, production efficiency and effectiveness, adding production support tools, marketing development, and developing exhibition cooperation, so as to be able to increase the quality and production capacity as well as the development of Educative Teaching Aids (APE) craftsmen through various online marketing platforms. Outputs are in the form of publications through websites and social media, IA with industry, and journal articles. It is planned that the resulting product design will be proposed for Intellectual Property Rights.

Abstract

Penulisan Tugas Akhir Karya Seni ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan konsep, mendeskripsikan proses, mendeskripsikan hasil penciptaan tempat minum keramik dengan inspirasi bunga melati, sajian, dan publikasi. Metode penciptaan tempat minum ini melalui beberapa tahapan yaitu eksplorasi, perencanaan, dan perwujudan. Hasil dari penciptaan produk keramik tempat minum dengan teknik putar centering. 1) Desain motif karya mendeskripsikan ide gagasan yaitu bunga melati dengan mengambil motif serta warnanya dan di masukkan ke dalam karya tempat minum. 2) Menerapkan proses penciptaan dari persiapan alat dan bahan, proses pembentukan sesuai gambar kerja, dekorasi, pembakaran biskuit, pengglasiran, pembakaran glasir, serta yang terakhir adalah pengecekan akhir untuk memastikan karya sudah siap untuk dipamerkan. 3) Hasil karya berjumlah 27 karya, dengan 7 tema dan bentuk yang berbeda, dengan memperlihatkan aspek-aspek sebagai berikut : 1) Aspek bahan, 2) Aspek ergonomi, 3) Aspek estetika, 4) Aspek ekonomi.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan semiotika batik Weton Indonesia karya Omah Kreatif Dongaji berdasarkan pendekatan Charles S. Peirce. Jenis penelitian ini adalah dekriptif kualitatif dan pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive dan snowball. Teknik pengumpulan dengan triangulasi (gabungan). Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan analisis menurut teori Pierce. Motif-motif batik Weton memiliki makna masing masing dalam penggambarannya yang menampilkan motif batik Weton Indonesia, hal itu merupakan bentuk bahasa yang divisualkan. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa penciptaan motif batik Weton oleh Rumah Kreatif Dongaji adalah bentuknya yang dapat mewakili simbol keagamaan dan juga proses perekonomian masyarakat Yogyakarta. Motif Weton digambar secara paradigmatik dan komposisi dari sudut pandang pencipta yang mengambil motif utama sebagai point of interest (pusat perhatian menggambarkan motif burung enggang dan peta Indonesia sebagai pendukung). Pertimbangan makna keseimbangan dan komposisi yang digunakan menjadikan salah satu daya tarik tersendiri.
