Abstract

The most forward elements of the bureaucracy, dealing directly with farmers is agricultural extensions. Their presence is very crucial in determining the successful of development activities of farmers. The objectives of this research are (1) to investigate the influence between emotional intelligence and motivation toward agricultural extensions’ performance; (2) to investigate influence of emotional intelligence and motivation partially toward agricultural extension’s performance; (3) to prove that emotional intelligence has a dominant influence compared to motivation toward agricultural extensions’ performance. This survey research was done toward agricultural extensions at Agricultural Office of Tanggamus District. Analytical technique used in this research was multiple regressions to find out the influence of independent variables (X) which was examined simultaneously as well as partially toward dependent variables (Y).Based on the result of F-Test it is proved that independent variables affect significantly toward performance variable (Y), so that the first hypothesis is accepted. In other hand, based on T-test, it is proved that X variables partially affect significantly toward the Y variables so that the second hypothesis is accepted. Independent variables which affect dominantly is motivation variable not emotional intelligence so that the third hypothesis is rejected. Keywords:       emotional intelligence, motivation, agriculture extension

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to find out the dominant category used by the teacher and the student during classroom interaction and to investigate which task that require the student to talk more. The study used a qualitative approach which included a case study. Naturalistic observation and encoding matrix were used to obtain the data. The data were examined using the FIACS (Flanders Interaction Analysis Category System) approach proposed by Flanders (1970) frameworks for forms of classroom interaction. The data demonstrated that both the teacher and the students used all of the FIACS system of interaction categories. The result of this study revealed that the dominant category applied by the teacher was Ask Question with the percentage 18.03% in the first meeting and 20.15% in the second meeting. In the other hand the dominant category used by students in the first and second meeting was Students-Talk Initiation with the percentage 38.52% and 49.71%. In addition, the classroom interaction is dominantly made by the students in the second meeting supported by discussion task. The percentage of Students Talk in the second meeting was 59.68%.Keyword: classroom interaction, FIACS (Flanders Interaction Analysis Category System), speaking classdoi: 10.23960/UJET.v11.i3.202201

Abstract

The study aimed to describe the improvement of the students’ pronunciation after implementing English songs in the teaching-learning process. The subject of this study was the senior High School students of Mardhotillah Orphanage, Bandar Lampung, which consisted of 10 students. This research was quantitative. The design used was one group pre-test and post-test. The instruments were pronunciation tests and recording. The data collection instrument was a test divided into pre-test and post-test, which the audio recorder had recorded, and they were analyzed using the Paired Sample T-test. The results showed that the students’ mean score on the pre-test was 48.5, and the mean score on the post-test was 72.5. Besides, the improvement of students’ mean scores from pre-test to post-test was24. It could be seen from the computation that the significant value of the test was lower than alpha (0.000.05) while the t-value (5.573) was higher than t-table (2.0452)0.05) while the T-value (15.095) was higher than T-table (2.2622). Therefore, the hypothesis is accepted that there is a significant difference in students’ pronunciation ability after implementing English songs. Based on the results, it can be concluded that using English songs effectively teaches pronunciation. Keywords: English songs, teaching pronunciation, improvement.
