Abstract

One of many social media phenomena, especially on Instagram, is the rising number of accounts with pseudonymous identity, commonly known as Fake Instagram (Finstagram). A private account appears  with a fake username and photo display and small number of followers, with the purpose of being unidentified. The phenomenon starts from the social media standards Instagram trends to social judgements, resulting in users feeling uncomfortable when sharing aside from the implicit standards and trends which are currently happening. From that perspective, this research aims to see whether an influence is present in pseudonymous identity usage on Instagram on self-disclosure. Data of this research is gathered from 100 respondents through questionnaire  using a purposive sampling technique. The result of questionnaire is later researched using a quantitative research method. With the use of simple regression analysis, it is known that pseudonymous identity usage on Instagram (variable X) and self-disclosure (variable Y) have a strong correlations and a significant influence on one another. Based on self-disclosure theory, the result shows that pseudonymous identity usage on Instagram (also known as Finstagram) contributed 43,6% to self-disclosure, whereas the remaining 56,4% is contributed by other factors than pseudonymous identity usage on Instagram.

Abstract

Restriction on the broadcasting  of 17 western songs considered full of sexual aspects in the Indonesian province of West Java has given rise to  polemic and criticism. Various reactions, both negative and positive, emerged. Instead of supporting the restriction the Indonesian public appeared to blatantly oppose the policy made by the West Java  Regional Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID). It is interesting to analyze and study this phenomenon more deeply through the great concepts of Gramsci’s counter hegemony.  Of course, a mature and strategic counter hegemony is needed  to counter   western music hegemony in the  country. The study of counter hegemony has not been widely discussed, especially when it comes to the counter of the counter hegemony itself and this can be the novelty of this study. This phenomenon is analyzed through critical perspective by conducting literature study in several online media sites  related to the topic of this research. The results show that the counter hegemony which was not carried out systematically and strategically with regard to  the restrictions on the broadcasting of 17 western songs in the province of West Java did not yield a fruit in the form of  the hegemony’s downfall. The hegemony of western songs remains strong.  The failure of counter hegemony will strengthen the hegemony of  western songs in Indonesia. For its part, it is necessary to have mature planning and strong collaboration  between political society and civil society to make the counter hegemony run well in an attempt to undermine the hegemony.

Abstract

Book of “Miss Jinjing Belanja Sampai Mati” or “Miss Carry Shops to Dies” explains about lifestyle, shopping world and woman leading to the emergence of Miss Jinjing’s icon for the spirit of shopaholic or shopping lovers. This research aims to reveal how Miss Jinjing Belanja Sampai Mati’s text book presents and reflects women image using of simulation imaginary model of Jean Baudrillard, and how the media is used as a means of capitalism legitimacy. This research uses a qualitative method. The research output concludes that women are as consumptive figures, connoisseur, and shopping lover. By having seen on simulation imaginary model of Jean Baudrillard, the form of image starts from representation, ideology, and simulation phases reflected in Miss Jinjing’s text book;  while the simulacra leading to hyperreality happens when the readers are brought into text persuasion. Media’s work in forming the image of consumptive women, shopping lovers and shopaholic is a reflection of capitalism identity. Media presents an excessive reality in its writing on lifestyle and shopping world for women to control and dominate so that women are able to be voluntary and even do in many ways to achieve hyperreality formed by capitalism system. Woman image established in this case, is no longer another thing than as commodity which is expected to be sold out to advertisers.
