Abstract

This paper estimates and analyzes the characteristics of Japanese household’s demand on goods and services, i.e. (1) Food, (2) Housing, (3) Fuel, light and water charges, (4)Furniture and household utensils, (5) Clothes and footwear, (6) Medical care, (7) Transportation and communication, (8) Education, (9) Reading and recreation, and (10)Other living expenditure. This paper applies Linear Expenditure System (LES) model and seemingly uncorrelated regression (SUR) estimation method. Put (10) other living expenditure aside, this paper has exhibited some conclusions. First, increases in income(above supernumerary income) will be proportionally allocated more for (1) Food, (5) Clothes and footwear, (9) Reading and recreation, (7) Transportation and communication and (8) Education. Second, both demand and cross-price elasticities are inelastic. Third, demand on (4) Furniture and household utensils, (5) Clothes and footwear and (6) Education are income elastic.Keywords: elasticity, Linear Expenditure System (LES), Seemingly UncorrelatedRegression (SUR)

Abstract

This research aims to analyze factors that affect the using of sharia nance institution in the Province of DIY. This research involved 150 respondents distributed throughout Yogyakarta City, Bantul Regency, Kulon Progo, Gunungkidul Regency, and Sleman Regency. A purposive non-probability sampling method was used to predict population behavior, with factor analysis as a tool of analysis. The preference of using sharia nance institution was affected by institution factor, including institutional ones, loyalty of Islamic law, service, and the suitability of product.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to estimate and analize the characteristics of Indonesian household expenditure on goods and services, for example food, clothes, household utensils, housing, medical care, education, oil and transportation, gas, electricity and communication. Linear Expenditure System (LES) model and seemingly uncorrelated regression (SUR) estimation method were applied. This study has some conclusions. First, if ones have more incomes, they will proportionally allocate them for housing, oil and transportation, education, food, and medical care. Second, medical care, education and communication are categorized as superior or deluxe commodities. Third, the approximation of minimum living expenditure to survive is Rp 147.236 for a household per week.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has the biggest Moslem population in the world. It causes an increase in demand for Islamic products, especially halal food products. The obligation to consume halal products become a huge market potential for food producers to produce halal products. This research aimed to find out the relation of factors that influence the intention to purchase halal food products.This research uses purposive sampling method with 200 respondents consisting of Muslim students from Universitas Gadjah Mada. Structural Equation Modelling was used to analyze existing data. This research uses halal awareness, product ingredients, Islamic brands, halal certification, product quality, and promotion as many factors that influence purchase intention of halal food products. Results showed that halal awareness, product ingredients, Islamic brands, halal certification, and product quality have a significantly positive effect on purchase intention of halal food products, but halal certification and promotion have no significant effect on purchase intention of halal food products.
