Abstract

Beta-carotene (?-Carotene) is an organic compound and is classified as a terpenoid. ?-Carotene is a red-orange pigment that is very abundant in plants and fruits. Beta-carotene is thought to have many functions that other compounds do not have (Subawati, 2009). The aim of this study was to determine ?-carotene levels in juwet fruit (Syzygium Cumini) by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Juwet fruit samples (Syzygium Cumini) were extracted with acetone as a solvent. The extract obtained was extracted again with petroleum ether solvent, then saponified with 15% KOH solvent in methanol. The extract was liberated with distilled water. The extract obtained was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4. The extract obtained was analyzed qualitatively using Thin Layer Chromatography, and UV-Vis spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 332.1539 nm. The average level of ?-carotene in juwet fruit was 1.25 mg. Analysis of Vitamin C levels was carried out at a wavelength of 265.3 nm, the average level of Vitamin C in juwet fruit was 1.473

Abstract

Acne or Acne vulgaris is a problem that is often experienced at all ages, especially in adolescents. One of the causes of acne is that the polysebase ducts (oil glands in the skin and hair) become blocked and cause the production of skin oil (sebum) which becomes food for bacteria. The flavonoids contained in the leaves of Binahong (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) can inhibit bacterial growth. This study aims to formulate the Binahong leaf extract (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) into liquid soap preparation and evaluate the physical quality of the preparation. The extraction method used in this study was maceration using 96% ethanol as a solvent. Liquid soap Binahong Leaf extract (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) is made into four formulas, namely F0 (containing 0% binahong leaf extract), F1 (containing 2% binahong leaf extract), F2 (containing 4% binahong leaf extract), and F3 (contains 6% binahong leaf extract). The physical quality test for liquid soap preparations includes organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, high foam, and dispersibility. The test results of the four liquid soap formulations showed that the four formulas did not experience organoleptic changes, were homogeneous, and met the pH requirements of 9.5-11. The pH range of liquid soap that meets the SNI requirements (06-3734-2006) is 8-11, the foam height range is 25-60 mm, and the spreadability range is 3-5 cm.

Abstract

Along with increasingly rapid technological developments in our country, the number of existing industries is increasing. Apart from producing useful products, this industry also produces waste. The waste produced contains a lot of heavy metals, one of which is the heavy metal lead. If the lead metal in the waste receives little treatment, this can cause pollution in the environment, even though this waste is present in small quantities, the lead condition is unstable and if it accumulates in the body, it can ultimately trigger cancer cells (carcinogenic) which can be dangerous for health. . In this research, adsorption of PB2+ ions was carried out on canned ground meat, where heavy metal contamination occurred in the ground meat. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the absorption of heavy metals (Pb) contained in ground beef and their characteristics. The uptake of PB2+ ions in ground beef, measuring the concentration of PB2+ ions before and after receiving treatment, was carried out using an instrument, namely AAS, at a wavelength of 217nm. The research results showed that the effectiveness of ground beef in absorbing PB2+ ions in canned food was as high as brand a: 0.023; brand b: 0.009; brand c: 0.006
