Abstract

This research is about application IBA and NAA with some cutting materials of “Madu Deli Hijau” water apple using NFT hydroponic system was aim to study the growth of water apple’s cuttings was treated by IBA and NAA 500 ppm and study the best kind of cutting materials of water apple that can growth the most.  This research was conducted using completely randomized design in two factors.  The first was consisted of 7 treatments; control (without Auxin), IBA 500 ppm, and NAA 500 ppm. The second was consisted of 4 treatments; woody branch (hardwood), semi woody (semi hardwood), and soft branch, softwood, and shoots. The results showed that the added auxin in the form of IBA and NAA 500 ppm can increase the success of madu deli hijau water apple cuttings and the cuttings from the shoots are the best for the success of madu deli hijau water apple in NFT hydroponic system.

Abstract

Abstract

Research on the response of pakchoi (Brassica rapa L.) due to the use of several hydroponic nutrition formulas and the use of different sizes of rockwool aims to (1) compare the growth of pakchoi in four hydroponic nutrient formulas and four rockwool sizes and. (2) compare the results of pakchoi to four hydroponic nutrient formulas and four rockwool sizes. The study used four nutritional formula and four rockwool sizes. Rockwool size used was 2cm3 (r1), 4cm3 (r2), 8cm3 (r3), and 12cm3 (r4), while the nutritional formula used was n1, n2, n3, and n4. Each treatment was applied to the experimental unit according to the split plot design (4x4) with 2 replications. The data obtained will be tested by F test (analysis of variance), and continued with LSD test at α 5% level. The results showed that the use of nutrient 2 (N2) in Pak choi cultivation showed the highest value of plants, the number of leaves, and the best leaf width, respectively 16.55 cm, 8.64 strands, and 114 cm. The use of nutrients 1 (n1) and 2 (n2) in pakchoi cultivation showed wet weight (21.60 g and 23.68 g) and dry weight (5.15 g and 6.58 g) better than n3 and n4. The use of rockwool size 8 cm3 (3) and 12 cm3 (r4) in pak choi cultivation showed the best value on all observation variables except leaf width.

Abstract

The problem that occurs in efforts to increase zea mays production is low land productivity, especially for red-yellow podzolic soil types. Setting plant spacing is an important factor to increase crop production easily and not increase production costs. Increasing the plant population per unit area can increase yields, but if the plant population continues to be increased, the yield will actually decrease. The aim of this research was to determine the response of growth and production of Zea mays to plant spacing treatments and to determine the correct planting distance with a high growth and production response. This research used a Randomized Block Design with 4 treatments, namely: P1 = planting distance 100 x 20 cm; P2 = planting distance 80 x 20 cm; P3 = planting distance 60 x 20 cm; and P4 = planting distance 40 x 20 cm; and repeated 3 times. Observation variables included plant height, ear weight, ear diameter, ear length, and sweetness level. The data analysis used was analysis of variance to determine whether the treatments were significantly different or not and continued with the LSD test with a significance level of 5%. The research results showed that differences in the planting distance of Zea mays on red-yellow podzolic soil had an effect on plant height, cob weight without corn husks, cob weight with corn husks, and cob length. Treatments P1 and P2 were the best treatments for the variables plant height, cob weight without corn husks, and cob weight with corn husks. Meanwhile, for the cob length variable, the best treatment is the P1 treatment.
