Abstract

The quality of a product determines the level of market demand. This paper discusses the determination of the quality level of plastic molding with the sigma level method which uses the Box Plot to determine the desired quality limit. The purpose of this research is to determine the level of quality of product using statistics. The object of this research is to determine the weight variation of the souvenir of PNP logo with a weight indicator. The experiment were carried out on 200 samples taken at random.Then each sample is numbered from 1 to 200. Each sample is weighed carefully. The results obtained were processed using a box plot to obtain the numbered of rejected samples from 200 samples that were weighed. The result of data processing obtained 19 reject products from 200 products tested. From this data there are 9,5% of products that do not meet the desired specifications. Furthermore, the sigma level is determined from the results of data processing using a box plot. DPMO of 9.5% is 95000 Defects per Milion Opportunities. The result of determining the sigma level is 2.8 Sigma.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Padang State Polytechnic has been established since 1987 under the name Polytechnic Engineering and then changed its name several times to the management policy by Andalas University then, until now it is independent until now with the name Padang State Polytechnic. The 33-year-old polytechnic of the Padang State Polytechnic establishment must have an icon, symbol and trinkets that have PNP characteristics so that they are easy to recognize and remember. Souvenirs are a form of applying media for promotion and souvenirs for people who already know and come to Padang State Polytechnic. Plastic injection molding machine is a machine used to mold plastics with a basic material in the form of plastic pellets. Plastic injection molding machine is the process of processing plastic material in the form of seeds which are heated until they become liquid and then injected into the molding which then freezes / hardens according to the shape of the mold. The products produced by injection molding machines vary, from electronic tools, automotive tools, home appliances, plastic souvenirs, to tableware. The success of the resulting product is highly dependent on Molding. The plastic injection molding machine has parts, namely the Injection Unit, Molding Unit and Clamping Unit. The Injection Unit and Clamping Unit are the most important parts in the manufacturing process of plastic products where the control operation is executed on the control panel found on the plastic injection molding machine. The control panel on the machine can adjust the amount of clamping pressure, stroke length, plastic volume, and temperature used. The molding unit is the main part of the plastic product manufacturing process. Mold (mold) is a tool / tool used to make products according to the desired design (shape and dimensions). Plastic molding has its respective functions, parts of the mold, namely Cavity and Core, Sprue, Runner and Gate, Undercut. The printing process on a Plastic Molding machine has several stages such as the cutting process, mold safety and machine safety, execution, product check, setting, execution, and final. Materials used in the Plastic Molding process are usually materials that are often used daily and are safe for use by all groups, such as Polyproplene, Polycarbonate, and High Density Poly Ethylene. The product that will be produced from the molding made is a key toy souvenir made of plastic, with a shape like the Padang State Polytechnic logo, measuring 6 cm long, 6 cm wide and 5 mm thick. The test results obtained will be shown through field applications, socialization at the Padang State Polytechnic and writing in national journals are the targets and outputs of this novice lecturer research activity. Abstract

Electrical energy at this time is needed in daily life so that the demand for power from the community is so large. PLN in this case as a provider of electric current is very overwhelmed to meet customer demand. For this reason, alternative energy producers called renewable energy are sought, one of which is a micro hydro plant. In West Sumatra alone, PLTMH has considerable potential to reach 500 MW (Source: PLN West Sumatra Regional Research and Development), so that West Sumatra itself has been designated a green energy barn by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (Source: Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources). This is a promising prospect to be developed so that PLTMH equipment can be made with the mastery of appropriate technology. Based on the survey that has been done generally making microhydro turbines is still doing manual work with simple production equipment and very low production volume. The delay in making this generator is in the runner which has a disk component as a holder where the blade will produce rotation. Part made has a specific contour shape and repetitive work. Making disk runners through six workmanship sequences using different CAD applications, tools and places. Jig and Fixture is a technological tool that is suitable for manufacturing micro hydro turbine disk runners where the material holder is on the dividing plate while the torch weld cutter is hung on the guide for the cutting process. These assistive tools designed can eliminate the work process. This mobile device can cut circles with a diameter of 200 mm-300 mm, a blade of as many as 28 pieces with the same distance, shape profile and accuracy and meet the ergonomic aspects for the operator.

Abstract

Coffee is material of drink and coffee income for Indonesia Country.  Each one of coffee proses for drink is grind proses.  Grind coffee proses influence of taste and confortable.  The grind coffee prosesto produce powder, natural aroma, big capacity, easily found, estetika, and economic value. From research, hoper the grind coffee machine is the produce coffee powder, natural aroma, capacity, small power electrical, portable, estetika and economic value.In this paper Grinder Coffee Machine Vertical Shaft System, to produce grinder with Conical Burr Grinder so natural aroma, powder smoot and same size.  The specification this machine is power 0.5 HP, motor rotation 500 rpm, size 300mm x 300mm x 470mm and capacity produce 106 kg/hour.

Abstract

The problem of the oxy-acetylene welding plate cutting tool that is commonly used today is still in a manual way, and is not equipped with driving equipment. This results in the performance of the oxy-acetylene welding plate cutting tool when cutting is not optimal and efforts need to be made to improve the cutting tool in order to facilitate work. The purpose of this research is to produce a construction design of an automatic oxy-acetylene welding plate cutting tool. and can determine the suitability of mechanical components with the arduino control system used. The working method of the tool design process includes work preparation, data collection and making the formulation of problems and objectives to be achieved. Literature study by looking for articles, which are updated to produce solutions to existing problems. Making component and assembly designs and simulations by making calculations and uses on the mechanical construction and control systems used. Using the application of the ZW3D licensed computer aid design program, this research created a design for oxy-acetylene welding plate cutting tools by combining oxy-acetylene welding with stepper motors driven by Arduino control. Producing automatic motion with x and y axes, so that it can facilitate cutting work. The size of the designed tool is 700 mm x 700 mm x 800 mm. From the calculation, the maximum torque required by the plasma cutting table is 0.218 Nm, and the maximum power is 6.845 Watt. The motor chosen is a Nema23 stepper motor because the price is relatively cheap and in accordance with the calculation specifications. Lead Screw is used as a converter of rotary motion from stepper motor into linear motion, with specifications used with diameter = 8 mm, length = 500 mm and pitch = 2 mm.
