Abstract

Crime is a global issue that arises as a consequence of social problems in society such as poverty and densely population due to urbanization. In large cities, governments have applied technology to support crime prevention. In this paper, a mobile-based system is proposed to increase knowledge and public awareness which may reduce the risk of crimes. A context-aware system, namely, geo-fence, is used to enable virtual fences around crime hotspots. Crime hotspots are determined using crime histories and crowd-sourced data provided by citizens. As citizens enter crime hotspots, they would be alerted and provided information. Meanwhile, if they find or experience crime, they are able to report and label the location of the crime.

Abstract

Agricultural commodity price forecasting becomes important for farmers since the knowledge of agriculture commodity price fluctuation can help the farmers to identify the right selling time. Recently, the absence of such the forecasting system makes the farmers decide to sell their commodities to middlemen which in turn, reduces their exchange rate as the length of distribution flow is complicated. The length of distribution flow is started from farmers, middlemen, wholesalers, retailers, and consumers. To address this problem, a forecasting system based on radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) is proposed. To optimize the network’s learning process, particle swarm optimization (PSO)-based learning technique is applied. The RBFNN is chosen because of its ability to generally track irregular signal changing, good speed in learning process and robustness. Meanwhile, the implementation of PSO aims to improve weight values towards global optimum in RBFNN model.

Abstract

Pada lingkungan akademik, sebuah perpustakaan memegang peranan sangat penting. Perpustakaan dapat menjadi media untuk menemukan referensi untuk kegiatan-kegiatan akademik seperti pembelajaran dan penelitian. Oleh karena itu, dapat dikatakan bahwa perpustakaan merupakan jantung dari sebuah lembaga pendidikan. Namun, kendala yang sering terjadi adalah seorang pengguna tidak selalu dapat menemukan referensi yang diinginkan. Pengguna harus membuka portal publikasi lain seperti Springer, Elsevier, IEEE, dan sebagainya. Penelitian ini menghasilkan desain single screen library yang merupakan sebuah perpustakaan pintar yang dapat diakses melalui sistem terpusat. Sehingga pengguna tidak harus membuka sistem-sistem lain secara terpisah. Diharapkan dengan sistem perpustakaan single screen, akan meningkatkan efektivitas layanan sebuah perpustakaan.
