Abstract

Pessimism is the attitude or perspective of an individual who is depicted by uncertainty, despair, and there is no hope for something faced. Conversely, optimism is the attitude of someone who sees things positively. This study aims to find out how students who have optimistic and pessimistic attitudes, and find out the differences in students' mathematics achievement between optimistic and pessimistic students, and if there are better ones. This research was conducted in 4 (four) State High Schools in Semarang City, and 498 XII graders has been chosen randomly. The result is that 55% of students are pessimistic, and 45% are optimistic. The research hypothesis that there are differences in mathematics learning achievement between optimistic and pessimistic students has been proven in the results of this study. Significant differences were also confirmed through the results of statistical calculations, and can be indicated by the average score of the optimistic students is higher than pessimistic students. Further discussion is needed on the implications of the results of this study on mathematics education broadly.

Abstract

3D-Shapes Geometry is one of the subjects material that must be taught to students in Mathematics Education Program, which later after graduation will become a math teacher. Learning 3D-Shapes Geometry has relevance to the mathematics critical thinking ability. Students who have the ability to think critically can think rationally by collecting information as completely as possible. Learning that can stimulate the ability of critical thinking should be learning in which there are activities that are student-centered learning. One of the lessons in 3D-Shapes Geometry that can be used is learning using Geogebra Software . Learning 3D-Shapes Geometry using GeoGebra aided is very possible to make students practice independently spatial capabilities that will foster self regulated learning. The existence of self-regulated learning in the student's learning will make the students able to interpret, analyze, evaluate, and infer in learning. These capabilities will form the mathematics critical thinking ability. The purpose of this research is to determine whether or not there is a relationship between self regulated learning and mathematics critical thinking ability and to find out coefficient of correlation of them. This research is a quantitative research. Before the research begins, the researchers took the value of the task as the preliminary data and it is tested normality. Data collection techniques in this research is the scale of self regulated learning and tests in the form of mathematics critical thinking ability. The scale of self regulated learning and mathematics critical thinking ability tests are validated first. Data test of mathematics critical thinking ability of is tested normality, then data of scale self regulated learning and test of mathematics critical thinking ability are tested regression. The result of this research is there is influence of self regulated learning to the mathematics critical thinking ability of 45 , 7 %.

Abstract

AbstractPendidikan karakter menjadi salah satu agenda pendidikan nasional Indonesia. Pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter di Indonesia terintegrasi dalam proses pembelajaran setiap mata pelajaran, termasuk dalam pelajaran matematika. Matematika sebagai ilmu yang  mendasar dan diselenggarakan di setiap jenjang pendidikan mulai pendidikan dasar hingga pendidikan tinggi, menjadi salah satu media implementasi pendidikan karakter di sekolah. Model dan pendekatan yang tepat perlu dirancang dan direncanakan sedemikian rupa, sehingga pendidikan karakter dapat terlaksana dan karakter yang diharapkan dapat dicapai oleh peserta didik. Pembelajaran semacam ini disebut pembelajaran by design, salah satunya adalah pembelajan matematika konstruktivis dengan pendekatan inkuiri guna menumbuhkan karakter kerja keras pada peserta didik. Penelitian yang dilaksanakan dalam bentuk kualitatif deskriptif ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran matematika konstruktivis dengan pendekatan inkuiri dapat menumbuhkan dan meningkatkan karakter kerja keras pada peserta didik. Pembelajaran by design sejenis ini diharap dapat dikembangkan dan  menjadi solusi dalam mengintegrasikan pendidikan karakter dalam pembelajaran. Keywords: pendidikan karakter, kerja keras, matematika, konstruktivis, inkuiri.

Abstract

Pembelajaran IPA di SMP khususnya materi gerak tumbuhan masih kurang dapat memfasilitasi siswa untukberpikir kritis. Perangkat yang digunakan dalam eksperimen gerak tumbuhan juga masih sangat konvensional danbelum dapat merangsang kemampuan logika dan analisis siswa. Light Spectrum Filtering Cube (LSF Cube) merupakansebuah inovasi perangkat eksperimen untuk mempelajari fototropisme pada materi gerak tumbuhan. Tujuan daripenelitian ini adalah 1) untuk mengetahui karakteristik LSFCube pada materi gerak tumbuhan 2) menguji validitasLSF Cube pada materi gerak tumbuhan dan 3) menguji keefektifan perangkat LSF Cube pada materi geraktumbuhann untuk memberdayakan kemampuan berpikir kritis.Penelitian ini adalah penelitian riset &pengembangan (R&D). Subjek ujicoba adalah 62 siswa di SMPN 13 Semarang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian danpembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa 1) Perangkat LSF Cube yang dikembangkan memiliki beberapa keunggulandibandingkan dengan perangkat yang selama ini digunakan dalam percobaan fototropisme konvensional yaitumudah digunakan, mampu merangsang keingintahuan siswa, memungkinkan siswa untuk berhipotesis danmemanipulasi variabel-variabel yang ada 2)Produk perangkat eksperimen IPA terpadu Light Spectrum Filtering Cube(LSF Cube) yang dikembangkan valid untuk diterapkan pada materi gerak tumbuhan dengan perolehan validitaskonstruk dengan skor 3,78 dan validitas isi dengan skor 3,75 3) Produk perangkat eksperimen IPA terpadu LightSpectrum Filtering Cube (SLF Cube) yang dikembangkan untuk materi gerak tumbuhan efektif untuk memberdayakankemampuan berpikir kritis.
