Abstract

Women are one part of a vulnerable group in the event of a disaster. Data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) states that women have a 14 times higher risk of becoming victims of disasters than adult men. This is due to the instinct of women who want to protect their families and children, which often makes them neglect their own safety. Therefore, providing access to information and disaster education is important to reduce the number of victims when a disaster occurs. This research aims to how the preparedness of women in the village of Besakih in facing the risk of the eruption of Mount Agung in Karangasem Regency, Bali. Through ethnographic methods with live-in strategy for gathering data during July-October 2019, this research found some potential of Balinese women when facing disasters. The character of Balinese women who are independent, tough and adaptive is their key to survive in a disaster situation. In addition, the woman of Besakih Village claimed to be actively seeking information on Mount Agung disaster through Facebook as a form of self-mitigation before the disaster occurred. Research recommendations are directed at training to increase women's capacity such as recognizing the initial symptoms of disasters, how to find and select correct information on social media related to disasters, and to play an active role as an agent of disaster vulnerability in the family.

Abstract

Tujuan dari studi ini adalah  mencari keterkaitan nilai ekologis dengan cerita Dewi Sri, dan menjelaskan implikasinya dalam kehidupan masyarakat Jawa Timur. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) apa nilai ekologis dalam cerita Dewi Sri?; dan (2) bagaimana implikasi nilai ekologis secara pragmatis dalam kehidupan masyarakat Jawa Timur? Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan keberadaan ruh Dewi Sri membawa nilai ekologis seperti nilai hormat kepada alam, nilai kelestarian, dan nilai ketaksia-siaan. Ketiga nilai tersebut berimplikasi secara pragmatis dalam kehidupan sehari-hari masyarakat Jawa Timur.

Abstract

Penelitian ini terfokus kepada peran-peran wanita yang digambarkan pada relief di badan Candi Jawi. Candi Jawi adalah salah satu candi di Jawa Timur yang memiliki kekhasan, dan berbeda dengan candi-candi di Jawa Tengah. Hal ini disebabkan candi-candi di Jawa Timur merupakan representasi dari akulturasi dua kepercayaan, yakni Shiwa-Budda.Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian iniadalah bagaimana peran wanita digambarkan pada relief Candi Jawi? Tujuan penelitian iniadalah menganalisis peran wanita yang tergambar pada relief Candi Jawi. Sementara itu manfaat dari penelitian ini adalah berikut; (1) Dapat digunakan sebagai sumber penciptaan seni mengenai hasil temuan tentang peran-peran wanita pada relief candi; (2) Memberikan deskripsi tentang aktivitas figur wanita sebagai hasil pembacaan relief untuk memperkaya penelitian sebelumnya.

Abstract

The Mini Art Malang Exhibition aims to capture the artistic and aesthetic potentials of young artists in Malang City. The Mini Art Malang Exhibition is an exhibition that is an annual art project - an annual art event held by Studio Dinding Luar since 2018. Every year, MAM offers and carries different themes to inject stimuli into young artists which are then interpreted in the form of works of art. MAM participants are not limited to individual works of art or individual creations, but are also   open to communal/community/group based creations in conveying their ideas. The general hope of the MAM event is that the exhibition can become a transmission or medium of communication between artists and  appreciators. This article discusses the history of the founding of Mini Art Malang (MAM) starting from the background of its formation, goals, and achievements.

Abstract

Expressionism Art Criticism on Agapetus’ Painting “Baik Boeroek Tanah Airkoe Joega”. Agapetus is an artist with  a  surrealist visual concept whose focus is on animals as the subject matter. Agapetus talks a lot about the social condition of society through the representation of animals. This research wants to explore the meaning contained in the work "Baik Boeroek Tanah Airkoe Juga" through an art criticism approach. This research was conducted to describe, interpret, and evaluate works from the perspective of Expressionism criticism. This research wants to analyze the message and meaning that Agapetus wants to convey. Themes, form visualizations, and similar works become references in analyzing this work. Data is collected through various sources, such as articles, books, and online media documentaries. The research results are presented in the form of a descriptive narrative.
