Abstract

Pasar merupakan sebuah wadah pertemuan antara penjual dan pembeli untuk bertransaksi secara langsung, sedangkan tradisional dimaknai sebagai sikap dan cara berpikir serta bertindak yang selalu berpegang teguh kepada norma dan adat. Pasar bisa menjadi jalur penyebaran penyakit. Keberadaan fasilitas sanitasi sangat penting untuk memberikan keleluasaan pada pedagang dan pengunjung yang beraktivitas di pasar tersebut, contohnya seperti toilet. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya jamur Candida albicans pada air bak toilet di pasar tradisional kota Pekanbaru. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Experimental. Berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan dari 8 pasar yang ada dikota Pekanbaru, ada 5 pasar yang ditemukan positif terkontaminasi jamur Candida albicans, dan 3 pasar lainnya terkontaminasi jamur spesies lain. Kesimpulan bahwa dari 15 sampel air bak toilet yang ada di pasar tradisional kota Pekanbaru ditemukan 8 sampel yang terkontaminasi jamur candida albicans .

Abstract

Daun serai (Cymbopogon citratus L) mengandung bahan kimia seperti alkaloid, saponin, tanin, polifenol dan flavonoid. Kandungan ini menunjukkan bahwa serai memiliki aktivitas antibakteri yang cukup. Salah satu kasus kesehatan gigi yang banyak ditemui pada masyarakat yaitu karies gigi, untuk mengurangi masalah tersebut yaitu dengan menggunakan daun serai karena serai juga mudah dibudidayakan dan diakses oleh banyak orang sehingga muda dicari untuk dijadikan obat. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah mengetahui daya hambat Streptococcus mutans menggunakan ekstrak daun serai. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode Eksperimental Laboraturium dengan rancangan penelitian “Post Test Only Control Group Design”. Hasil penelitian dengan metode dilusi cair pada konsentrasi 100%, 75%, 50% dan 25% tidak dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus mutans karena pada tabung terjadi kekeruhan. Sedangkan pada uji metode dilusi padat pada konsentrasi 100%, 75%, 50% dan 25% bakteri didalam petri tetap tumbuh, artinya ekstrak daun serai tidak dapat membunuh bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun serai hanya mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus mutans pada konsentrasi 100% dan tidak mampu membunuh bakteri Streptococcus mutans.

Abstract

Media that is often used for bacterial growth is Nutrient agar. The high price incurred for the manufacture of instant media becomes a constraint so that innovation is needed that can reduce the cost of expenditure that is looking for alternative media from materials that are easily available. One of the natural ingredients that have a source of nutrients that can be used for bacterial growth of durian seeds that have a high carbohydrate content as a source of carbon. The objective of this research was to know the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria on alternative medium of durian seed as substitution media of Nutrient agar. This research is laboratory experimental research, the sample used is durian seed with three concentrations of 200 g, 300 g, 400 g. The parameters observed were calculating total plate number and morphological form of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria growth. The results showed that the highest population on medium durian medium was the concentration of 200 g as much as 5.7 x 10-4 cfu and the lowest population at the concentration of 400 g was 3.5 x 10-3 cfu. While the population on the media Nutrient agar that is 7.7 x 10-6 cfu. Based on morphological observation of bacterial growth on durian seed medium, round shape, size 0.1 cm, white milk color, smooth surface, and convex elevation. The conclusion of this research is the growth of Staphylococcus aureus on alternative medium of durian seeds can be used as substitution media of Nutrient agar.

Abstract

Escherichia coli is one of the bacteria that lives in digestive system and could cause a diarrheal. Diarrheal treatment is done by using antibiotic.  The use of antibiotic in continuous way could be affected the bacteria resistances toward antibiotic. However, the study on natural anti-bacterial substance is being carried out using pineapple hump. This study was aimed to determine the secondary metabolites that contain in pineapple hump and the inhibition test of Escherichia coli by using experimental laboratory method in vitro. Pineapple hump extract created in many concentrations are 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 40%, 60%, and 80%, after that inhibition test of Escherichia coli was done and it will be incubated during 1x24 hours. The result  Shows that pineapple hump extract gain percentage of an inhibition test of Escherichia coli in concentrations 40%, 60%, and 80% are 50%, 63%, and 75%, compared with positive control and active compounds that contain in pineapple hump are bromelin, flavonoid, tannin, and saponin enzymes. This result could be concluded that pineapple extract hump potentially inhibit Escherichia coli which is marked by the formation of inhibitory zone.

Abstract

Glukosa urine merupakan adanya glukosa didalam urine yang disebabkan oleh tingginya kadar glukosa di dalam darah (hiperglikemia) sehingga keluar bersamaan dengan urine yang dipengaruhi oleh fungsi ginjal yang kurang baik. Kebiasaan merokok dengan menghirup nikotin dapat meningkatkan radikal bebas di dalam tubuh yang dapat mengganggu kerja insulin dan merusak sel beta pancreas. Kadar nikotin yang banyak pada manusia akan berpengaruh merangsang pelepasan hormon kortisol. Hormon kortisol merupakan hormon antagonis insulin yang memicu terjadinya pemecahan glukosa secara terus menerus, hal ini dapat menyebabkan kerja insulin menjadi terganggu sehingga mengakibatkan adanya glukosa urine. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran glukosa urine pada perokok aktif di RT. 05 RW. 04 Kelurahan Sidomulyo Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode carik celup. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dari 30 sampel didapatkan sebanyak 5 responden (16,7%) negatif glukosa urine, 11 responden (36,7%) ±(100 mg/dL) glukosa urine, 6 responden (20%) positif +(250 mg/dL) glukosa urine, 8 responden (26,7%) positif ++(500 mg/dL) glukosa urine. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 5 responden dengan kadar glukosa urine normal dan sebnayak 25 responden dengan kadar glukosa urine lebih dari normal.

Abstract

Fragrant pandanus leaf plant (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb) contains antibacterial compounds such as flavonoids, alcolloids, saponins, and tannins. One alternative to overcome Escherichia coli bacterial infection is the use of fragrant pandanus leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb). This study aims to determine the effectiveness of fragrant pandan leaf extract (Pandanus amarllyfolius Roxb) against the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria. This type of research is experimental using the disc diffusion method. Fragrant pandanus leaves are extracted by maceration method using ethanol 96% as a solvent. The results of the study found that the average diameter of the bland zone at a concentration of 25% is 6 mm, at a concentration of 50% is 11.7 mm, the concentration of 75% is 12.3 mm, at positive control (Chloramphenicol) is 25 mm, and negative control (ethanol 96%) is 6 mm. The conclusion of the study is the pandan leaves extract can inhibit the growth of bacteria Escherichia coli.

Abstract

Infectious diseases are diseases caused by the entry and breeding of microorganisms, namely bacteria, viruses, fungi, prions and protozoa into the body, causing organ damage. Candidiasis is a disease caused by the fungus Candida albicans, commonly found in the skin, mucous membranes and digestive tract. Infection control usually uses antibiotics, but continuous use can lead to resistance to microbes, the use of alternative materials is needed. Red galangal is one type of spice that has been widely used as a phytopharmaceutical product or a product that utilizes vegetable resources as a source of medicinal ingredients. The purpose of the research was to determine the effect of red galangal rhizome extract on the growth of Candida albicans. The methods used are experimental and disc diffusion method. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that there is an inhibitory response seen from the difference in the distance of the inhibition zone between the negative control and several other concentrations. The results of the measurement of the inhibition of Candida albicans using concentrations of 10%, 20%, 40%, and 60% respectively 11.3 mm, 13 mm, 13.3 mm, 14.3 mm. positive control (ketoconazole) formed an inhibition zone diameter of 8.6 mm while negative control did not form an inhibition zone. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the red galangal rhizome extract (Alpinia purpurata K. Schum) has the ability as an antifungal against the growth of Candida albicans.
