Abstract

This study aims to determine how the communication strategy of the cultural department of Medan city to promote the heritage buildings. The benefits of this study are to increase the author's experience through the research conducted and to provide information to those who pay attention to cultural heritage and handling. This study used a qualitative descriptive method which authors collected data via interviews and observation, literature study and documentation. The study conducted at the Department of Culture in Medan, and the primary data collecting by observation, interviews and the secondary data obtained within the study of literature, books and also internet sites that have relevance to the object of this study. The results showed that the communication strategy of Cultural Department in Medan City to promote the heritage of historical buildings is effective. Cultural heritage promotion activities were taking place from the determination of the target audience, preparation of an appropriate message, delivery methods, and the selection of suitable media, so the message conveys appropriately to the audience targeted.

Abstract

This research was inspired by many hate speech cases on social media that massively occurred ahead of the presidential election in 2019. The purpose of this study was to determine the communication patterns of religious groups in preventing the spread of hate speech and the group communication process carried out by religious leaders towards their groups about preventing the spread of hate speech in Medan Polonia District. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects of this study are religious leaders and members of their groups in Medan Polonia District. The sampling technique is by purposive sampling. The results showed that each religious group (Hindu, Protestant Christian, Buddhist and Islamic) had different communication patterns one to another. There are various ways conveyed by the religious leaders in minimalizing their religious members in expressing hate speech in social media. (1) Hindu religious groups tend to have relatively closed network communication networks in terms of politics to avoid the disunity the Hindu’s fellow and also urge their groups to enhance their group mutual respect. (2) The Buddhist group, in its worship process, did not touch the political issues and prefer to discuss issues of security and the economy. (3)Contastively, an open and active communication network is easily found in Christian groups who are oftenly tend to accommodate their group's development with circulation of hate speech on social media, for example by utilizing whatsapp applications, and discussed it in prayer groups. (4) However, religious leader of Islamic religious groups provide themselves as filters in their network communication to avoid any communication containing hate speech so that for his group religious leaders become role models / patrons to behave.

Abstract

In the world of education, students in particular need a clear especially in mentoring activities – research activities as well as the completion of the final tasks.Remembering things are required of a planning strategy communication between parties as well as the campus professors to engage in advocacy or mentoring on students ' research activities and thus expected research results the better students and qualified again.The purpose of this research is to know the generally Influence the planning of communication Towards Empowerment Advocacy Research students (studies on the final Level Students majoring in Communication Fisipol Darma Agung, Medan 2017).Research methods used in this research is quantitative methods.The location of the research carried out in Fisipol Darma Agung, Medan 2017. The population is all students Majoring Fisipol Darma Agung, Medan 2017 which is being compiled final project as many as 54 people.The number of sample study was 54 people (total sampling). Data analysis includes the Univariate Analysis, Bivariat and multivariate. Research results show that empowerment process approach, empowerment, empowerment approach system approach to technological, economical approach to empowerment and empowerment evaluation approach has the influence on the results of advocacy research students.This is indicated by the value that the t-test for independent samples F = 18,796, value of R = 0,646, t calculate = 6.095 and value adjusted r-square = 0.405

Abstract

Aceh Singkil is one of the regencies in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province that is rich in marine tourism, nature and culture. One of the popular tourism objects in this place is Banyak Island. Being well known by both local and international tourists, this tourist destination needs the right strategy. Through coordination done by government tourism office and youth and sports service of Aceh Singkil Regency, tourism communication strategy is arranged as an effort to improve the tourists’ visit in Banyak Island. This research was conducted by using descriptive-qualitative approach in which the data were collected by interview to the related parties. This research aims at : (1) knowing the maritime tourism marketing communication strategy done by government tourism office and youth and sports service of Aceh Singkil Regency in improving the tourists’ visit in Banyak Island, (2) knowing the supporting and inhibiting factors of the maritime tourism marketing communication strategy done by government tourism office and youth and sports service of Aceh Singkil Regency in improving the tourists’ visit in Banyak Island. Research findings show that the strategy of maritime tourism marketing communication done by government tourism office and youth and sports service of Aceh Singkil Regency in improving the tourists’ visit in Banyak Island are by advertising, event, publicity, and word of mouth marketing. The supporting factors of communication marketing are potential attractions for dance culture (Adok dance, Umbrella dance) and tomb of Makam syekh Abdurauf As-Singkily as national Islamic treasure. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors, one of them, is lack of crossing transportation for tourists to visit Banyak Island

Abstract

development of heritage tourism is closely related to cultural and historical issues as identity and identity of a nation. Millennials' sense of pride in history and culture has recently started to fade along with technological developments and the entry of foreign cultures to Indonesia. This research concludes that the Medan City Tourism Office has conducted tourism communications. First, communicating heritage tourist destinations through the brand “Colorful Medan”. Second, communicating accessibility to heritage tourist destinations through the “Medan Tourism” mobile app, leaflets, booklets and directions. Third, apply communication skills to human resources by forming a special team in conducting tourism marketing through social networks, the “Medan Tourism” mobile app and the official website of the Medan City Tourism Office. However, the results of the research show that what the Medan City Tourism Office is doing has not been maximized as the “Colorful Medan” brand is less well known by millennials, there is no special map related to heritage tourist destinations in one click menu on the mobile app “Medan Tourism”, the website incomplete and not up to date so that millennials do not get maximum tourist information.

Abstract

Riset ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui efektifitas komunikasi interpersonal dalam meningkatkan kepuasan nasabah Bank DBS Cabang Imam Bonjol Medan. Metode  penelitian yang dipakai adalah kualitatif riset yang bersifat deskriptif dan menggunakan analisis. Dalam riset ini juga cara kerjanya ditekankan pada proses dan makna, teori digunakan sebagai panduan. Pendekatan digunakan untuk mendapat hasil wawancara yang lebih mendalam dari setiap subjek penelitian. Dari analisis hasil riset yang telah diuraikan dapat disimpulkan bahwa komunikasi interpersonal yang dilakukan oleh costumer service dalam meningkatkan kepuasan nasabah Bank DBS Cabang Imam Bonjol Medan terbukti efektif. Ini dinilai dari jawaban nasabah yang semuanya memberikan respon yang positif. Artinya komunikasi interpersonal yang dilakukan oleh costumer service ke nasabah berhasil memberikan kepuasan yang dapat dipahami melalui tiga indikator yakni perasaan puas, rekomendasi nasabah dan pemenuhan kebutuhan.Kata Kunci : Komunikasi Interpersonal, Nasabah, Bank DBS, Medan This study aims to determine the effectiveness of interpersonal communication in increasing customer satisfaction at Bank DBS Imam Bonjol Medan Branch. The research method used is qualitative research to understand the phenomena experienced by the research subjects such as behavior, perceptions, motivations and actions, etc., holistically, and by means of descriptions in the form of words and language, in a special natural context. and by using natural methods. This approach is to get more in-depth interviews from each research subject. Based on the analysis and research results that have been put forward, the following conclusions can be drawn: Interpersonal communication carried out by customer service in increasing customer satisfaction at DBS Bank Imam Bonjol Medan Branch has proven to be effective. This can be seen from the customer's answers, all of which gave a positive response. This means that interpersonal communication carried out by customer service to customers has succeeded in providing satisfaction which can be understood through three indicators, namely feelings of satisfaction, customer recommendations and fulfillment of needs.Keywords: Interpersonal Communication, Customers, DBS Bank, Medan

Abstract

Seharusnya Tiktok hadir untuk menjadi media kreatifitas anak muda dan menjadi bagian dari revolusi konten. Sayangnya tujuan ini belum sampai kalangan muda di Indonesia sebab pengunaan tiktok di indonesia banyak sekali di salah gunakan seperti, penampilan pengguna tiktok di indonesia yang tidak sopan, ada yang sampai menjatuhkan harga diri mereka demi konten yang di posting bisa masuk di beranda FYP TikTok. Pesatnya teknologi komunikasi era digital saat ini menuntut orang tua untuk lebih mengawasi perilaku anak terutama bagi mereka yang memiliki anak di bawah umur dan anak remaja yang menjadi pengguna aktif gadget. Orang tua harus mau mempelajari perkembangan teknologi agar paham betul tentang cara mengawasi anak saat menggunakan gadget sehingga anak-anak tidak terpapar oleh serangan konten negatif di media sosial.Edukasi tentang literasi media penting dilakukan untuk orangttua maupun anak agar tidak terpengaruh konten-konten negatif, mampu menganalisis sesuatu secara objektif, bijaksana dalam menentukan sikap dan mampu menangkap pesan yang diterima sehingga tidak sebatas membaca atau menonton kemudian mempercayai dan menyebarkannya. Memasukkan program literasi media dalam pendidikan formal juga perlu menjadi fokus utama agar dapat membentengi anak terhindar dari konten negatif. Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai Persepsi Mahasiswa/i Universitas Sumatera Utara Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Jurusan Ilmu Komunikasi Terhadap Budaya K-Pop Di Media. Perumusan masalahnya adalah Bagaimana persepsi mahasiswa/i di Universitas Sumatera Utara Jurusan Ilmu Komunikasi terhadap budaya K-Pop di media. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi FISIP Universitas Sumatera Utara Terhadap Budaya K-Pop Di Media.Teori utama yang digunakan adalah Teori Uses and Gratification Uses and gratifications muncul karena adanya kebutuhan dan motif penggunaan media. Studi inimemusatkan perhatian pada penggunaan (uses) media untuk mendapatkan kepuasan(gratification) atas kebutuhan seseorang. Penelitian yang dilakukan merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Sampel penelitian yaitu dengan 10 informan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan oleh peneliti adalah wawancara dan obsrevasi. Metode analisa yang digunakan yaitu metode deskriptif, dimana mendeskripsikan hasil data yang diperoleh. Dari hasil penelitian ini diperoleh hasil yang positif, hal ini dapat dilihat dari persepsi dan respon mahasiswa terhadap dampak yang dirasakan oleh mahasiswa/i Ilmu Komunikasi FISIP Universitas Sumatera Utara tersebut.
