Abstract

Mobile usage has become a part of our daily lives. However, many mobile users ignore the existence of app permissions in an app. One of the reasons is the lack of information related to app permissions. If users are not careful, app permissions can be abused by hackers to steal their data such as SMS, photos, microphone access, and GPS. The purpose of this study is to observe the perspective of university students in Batam regarding app permissions as well as to see the consequences of that perspective. The basis of this research is using survey method for 132 social media users and regression. This study proves that mobile users’ information privacy concerns have an influence on the intention to accept app permissions, which means that university students of Batam tend to consider personal information privacy on mobile before accepting app permissions. However, computer anxiety and perceived control do not affect mobile users’ information privacy concerns, which means university students of Batam have neither computer anxiety nor perceived control over personal information privacy on mobile.

Abstract

SMK Multi Studi High School (SMK MHS) merupakan lembaga pendidikan vokasi yang didirikan pada tahun 2007 di kota Batam. SMK MHS menyediakan program studi teknik komputer dan jaringan, akuntansi, seni tari dan budaya, multimedia, dan rekayasa perangkat lunak. Namun SMK MHS belum memiliki tracer study yang memadai untuk digunakan. Tracer study adalah studi yang dapat memberikan informasi yang berguna untuk mengevaluasi hasil dari lembaga pendidikan dan kemudian dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan dan menjamin kualitas lembaga pendidikan Maka dengan ini, peneliti mengembangkan dan mengimplementasi sistem informasi tracer study berbasis web untuk mempermudah SMK MHS mengumpulkan informasi dari alumni. Metodologi untuk melakukan pengembangan dan implementasi sistem informasi ini adalah dengan menggunakan framework Scrum. Sistem informasi berbasis web ini dikembangkan dan diimplementasi menggunakan Ruby on Rails sebagai backend, Devise sebagai authentication solution, Bootstrap dengan template SB Admin 2 sebagai frontend, PostgreSQL sebagai relational database management system (RDBMS), Git dan GitHub sebagai sarana distributed version control, dan Heroku sebagai hosting platform. Dengan sistem informasi berbasis web ini, alumni dapat mengisi status secara mandiri, lalu admin dari pihak sekolah dapat melihat dan mengevaluasi informasi yang telah dikumpulkan.

Abstract

Web frameworks are essential for web developers, allowing them to build web applications more efficiently and effectively. This research paper compared two web frameworks with different programming language implementations: interpreted programming language and compiled programming language. PHP/Laravel was chosen as the representative interpreted programming language, and Go/Gin was chosen as the representative compiled programming language, because they were the most popular based on their star counts on GitHub. Based on a research paper by the University of Minho, Go was nearly 10 times faster than PHP in terms of execution time. Despite this, PHP is still the most commonly used web technology among the top 1 million websites. The results of a series of tests comparing the two showed that Gin was over 86 times faster than Laravel in terms of requests per second and time per request. The choice of which web framework to use will depend on the specific needs and goals of the project. However, if performance is the only criterion, then Gin is a better choice than Laravel.
