Abstract

Phenomena of excess demand need to be solved by developing dairy goat farming in Indonesia. Prima Fit is one of the farms that conduct a business development of dairy goat farming in 2010. This study was conducted to analyze the feasibility of dairy goat business development and determine the change in some variables. The result of non-financial aspects of the analysis states that according to the market aspect, technical production, management and legal, social, economic and cultural, as well as the environment, business is feasible for conducted either without development or with development. On the financial aspect criteria such as NPV, IRR, Net B/C, and the payback period state that business is feasible for conducting either without development or with development. Result of switching value and sensitivity analysis show that business without development is more sensitive to a decrease in price of milk goat, decrease in quantity of milk goat production, and increase in price of dregs of the tempeh than business with development.

Abstract

Small-scale farming and fisheries business are highly dependent on socio-agroecosystem condition, quality and performance of their products. This research aimed at formulating alternative empowerment model of farmer and fisher community. The research used research for development approach with multimethods, including rapid assessment, observation, interview, focused group discussion, action research, and multistakeholders dialogue. Farmer and fisher representatives of six villages from different types of agroecosystem and related informants were involved in the research.  Action research was conducted in Muara and Benteng Villages. Research results showed that quality of the products positively correlated to income of farming business. Community awareness and motivation to improve their socio-economics and environment, technical skills and extension services are key factors of successful empowerment. © 2014 Journal of Rural Indonesia [JoRI] IPB. Abstract

One of the criteria in deciding the priority of a regional economic development is the level of linkage (back\&lard and forward linKage) of a given sector and the level of multiplier effect of income and employment. The objective of this study is to investigate the role of fishery subsektor in economic regional of West Java, the level of linkage with the other sectors an the level of income and employment multiplier effect.Data showed that the contribution o( fishery subsector to PORB of West Java is relatively small, namely 1,08% in 1988 and 1,17% in 1993. At tha sama period fishery subsector contributed 1,93% and than decreasing until 1,89% for available employment in West Java. The result of study with input-output (1-0) model showed that linkage of fishery subsector is relatively low, except inland fishery sector had backward linkage is relavely high. Inland fishery sector have the income multiplier effect is relatively high, Whereas marine fishery and salted-fish and dried-fish bussiness is low. Generally, fishery subsector have the employment muttiplier is relatively low. Regarding the potention of fishery is relatively big, whereas the level of its exploitation have not been optimal, so fishery subsector is important to be a priority in regional economic development in West Java. And so, in order that the level of linkage of fishery subsector is relatively high, it is important to grow fisheriesagroindustries in West Java.

The prevention act can be doing by performing HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) In production process. Reaction act can be done by performing SPC (Statistical Process Control) analyze methode. Before performing HACCP, the bisnis units are must be complied by pre-requisite programs which is SSOP (Standard Sanitation Operating Procedure) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Peractices). SPC analyze performed by problem identification, Pareto Diagram, Fishbone Diagram, and Control Chart Diagram. Calculating waste costs production performed after performing HACCP and performing SPC. The result of the study showed that HACCP at PT DEF has B level. Also error indicate in packing and labeling. Total loss of error is Rp. 12500 and loss of time was 75 minutes In 171 prodUction turnover.

Abstract

Fish fillet is a superior commodity for the company of PT Dharma Samudra Fishing Industry (DSFI), and having the highest production and demand. The product of fish fillet giving a big opportunity for defect level of fish fillet and it's caused from some mistakes that happen in process production. Hence, the optimalization of input process of fish fillet production is related with six sigma methods application which try to eliminate or minimize mistakes and wastes of time and money. It is hoped the result of the project will increase in profit of the company and work productivity. This research purposes to use six sigma project that able to apply for production division of fish fillet in PT SF!. It can be happened with measuring the effectiveness of production and identifying the good way of work in production that has done with six sigma perspective. The management of work procedure of PT DSFI with fish fillet commodity based on six sigma perspective is in 4,53 sigma .level for January 2005 until Juny 2006. It means that the work procedure in fish fillet production is in a hig" category or very good. The data prove this condition by low value achievement of DPMO, that is 1.227,60 DPMO. There are seventeen Critical To Quality that is achieved by DMAIC methods in fish fillet processing that influence the quality and quantity of fish fillet. Improvement is done for seventeen Critical To Quality. The improvement target is the management of work procedure of input process .production. The important consideration is that anything can exactly connect to the targets. Those target is improvement effort carried out by production division, because the mistakes generally happened with characteristic of technical and human factor in this division. Improvement process is doing continuously so that every deficiency can be identified and examined for improvement in the future .

In its output, the company is facing an obstacle i.e. raw material avaibility, job shift employee, coldstorage capacity and freezing machine capacity. Nevertheless, maximum profit is still primary purpose achieved by a company. Optimalization shows that production is not reaching an optimal condition yet. This is shown by a differences between actual profit and optimalization result profit. If company produces with an optimum combination of result, then it will get an addition profit as Rp 2.633.481.200,00. This dual analysis shows that several resources is not used yet, optimally. Sensitivity of analysis shown that range of optimality of destination function and right hand side range are wide.

Abstract

In recent years, export of ornamental fish from Indonesia increased for every year in quantity and value. There are thirty eight companies with the ornamental fish export business. We can see the problems of TOM and how far the TOM have been applied in this company by observing the company's quality management in relation with the indicators, principles, and the basic elements of TOM. In identifying the existing problem, the research use the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method by making hierarchy. The results of this research shows that there are five main problems. That the company always put in priority. These problems are product quality, product delivery timing, production continuity, product amount and production costs. The alternative for improvement are teamwork, training, benchmarking, information system, technology, product variation, and also the improvement in management info administration system. The priority of joined management perception to elements of TOM are company vision and mission, standardization, internal auditing, organization, facilities, human resources and training.

Abstract

Partnership of contract farming system is the one of solution for economic problem in Indonesia. PT Aqua Farm Nusantara has been carried out contract farming system with small fish farmers in Kalasan Sub-district, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta Province. The research uses a case study method, and purposive sampling is made to get primary and secondary data. The research is aimed to learn contract-farming implementation technically, to identify obstacles and benefit of contract farming system, and to analyze impact of the system between the company and its partner and non-partner fish farmers. Qualitative and quantitative data method is used to calculate the outcome of the farms of the participants. Mann-Whitney Test has been used to observe real respective income of partner and non-partner fish farmers. The result of study shows that based on cash and total cost calculation, incomes of nonpartner are bigger than partner fish farmers'. The R-C Ratio Analysis based on the cash cost of the farming indicates that the partner and the non-partner fish farmers still gain profit. R-C Ratios of both participants are higher than 1 point. The result of the analysis and calculation indicate that contract farming system is still able to be sustained, because the partner fish farmers can cover the cost, and get profit from their farm in an outline of contract farming system.
