Abstract

Inflammation is a protective response on the body from injury of cell. Edema is one of inflammation sign. It was reported that Pandanus conoideus Lam. and Orthosiphon aristatus Mig. empirically used as an antiinflammation. The aim of this research was determining the combination effect of Pandanus conoideus Lam. and Orthosiphon aristatus Mig. based on formation edema volume on sole of foot male mice againts carrageenan, inflammation that occurs is measured using the pletysmometer. In the research, we used sodium CMC as a negative control and sodium diclofenac as a positive control administered topically. While combination of Pandanus conoideus Lam. and Orthosiphon aristatus Mig. with a ratio of 2:1. The result showed decrease edema with percent of inhibition 76,92% Respectively, as a conclussion the result indicate Natrium diklofenak didn't showed significant effect compare with the testing data.

Abstract

Mulberry (Morus alba L.) is commonly use in the cultivation of silkworms and medicinal plants in Indonesia. Traditionally, the leave are used to decrease arterial blood pressure. This study has been carried out the identification and characterization of compounds that isolated from the M. alba leaves collected from South Sulawesi. Extraction was done by maceration of their leaves using ethanol 0%, separation and purification using chromatography method. The results of the stationary phase column chromatography with silica gel with the mobile phase n-hexane:ethyl acetate in a gradient system obtained fractions with the fraction showed clear spot at TLC was continued for isolation. The isolated compound was analyzed with IR and UV-VIS spectrophotometry. Analysis of IR spectrum indicated the presence of an O-H (2285 to 2385 cm-1), C-H (2854 to 2954 cm-1) and the C=C (1521 to 1577 cm-1), these isolates indicate the presence of flavanoid compounds and their functional group at wavenumber 1336; 3421; and 968-1273 cm-1 indicated the presence of C-N; N-H; and C-O functional groups, respectively. These data also indicated the possibility of alkaloids. In addition characterization with UV sprectrum showed absorption at a wavelength of 239 and 413 nm, they indicated the presence of flavonoid group.

Abstract

Mulberry (Morus alba L.) leaf has been used as a traditional medicine for treatment of some tropical diseases and also popular using for silkworm feed. On this research, anti-inflammatory and wound healing activities of the bark extract has been investigated in vivo. The bark was extracted with three organic solvent in a different polarity to carry out a group compounds in n-hexane extract (EH), Eto-Ac extract (EE), and EtOH extract (EO). Anti-inflammatory was investigated on inflammatory mice induced by 1% carrageenan. Among the extract (200mg/kg BW), EE showed strongly decrease inflammation by 42% than the other extract and stronger than the positive control, Na-diclofenac. Further investigation on healing effect of wound and burn injury which was tested at concentration of 1% topically to each extract. All the extract significantly showed healing activity, among them EE was observed as the stronger one while slightly less than the positive control. This result indicated that the most active compounds on anti-inflammatory and healing wounded was extracted with ethyl acetate that could be used for drug discovery.

Abstract

Infeksi menyebabkan kerusakan di dalam jaringan karena adanya bakteri, jamur, dan virus.Salah satu bakteri penyebab infeksi dan sudah resisten dengan antibiotik adalah methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri dari beberapa daun tanaman obat dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri MRSA. Tanaman yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah daun miyana (Coleus seutellariodes L.), daun papaya (Carica papaya L.), daun jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.), daun pare (Momordica charantia L.), daun sirih (Piper batle L.), daun pegagan (Centella asiatica), daun srikaya (Annona squamosa L.), daun asam jawa (Tamarindus indica L.), kumis kucing (Orthosiphon stamineus Benth) dengan menggunakan metode perasan yang selanjutnya di freeze drying. Hasil freezer drying dari Sembilan tanaman di lakukan uji aktivitas antibakteri. Dari sembilan tanaman yang digunakan diperoleh daun tanaman yang menghambat bakteri MRSA adalah daun asam jawa (Tamarindus indica L.) dengan konsentrasi 10% dengan diameter hambatan 17,33 mm. Selanjutnya dilakukan uji lanjutan untuk menentukan konsentrasi terkecil yang dapat menghambat bakteri MRSA dengan metode difusi agar. Hasil yang diperoleh bahwa perasan dari daun asam jawa (Tamarindus indica L.) mampu menghambat bakteri MRSA hingga konsentrasi 1% dengan diameter hambatan 6,10 mm.

Abstract

Eyeshadow is a decorative cosmetic whose active ingredient is dyestuff. The dye consists of synthetic dyes and natural dyes. Synthetic substances in the long term can disrupt the respiratory organs, liver and are carcinogenic, so the selection of natural dyes is more profitable. Natural dyes can be taken from plants, minerals and animals. The purpose of this research is to utilize the skin waste of mesokarp part of red dragon fruit and mangosteen fruit skin with anthocyanin content which can be used as a dye in cosmetics. First stage The mesocarp sample of dragon fruit skin and mangosteen peel is extracted with aquadest solvent and citrate buffer with a ratio of 5: 1, then concentrated and in freeze drying until lyophilisate is obtained. The second stage is made by adding lyophilisate and other additives to produce Eyeshadow formula. The final stages are stability evaluation such as accelerated storage test, organoleptis, homogeneity, adhesion, dispersion, viscosity, pH, color dispersion test and then test irritation. The results showed that extract of mesokarp liofilisiat super red dragon fruit and liofilisat of mangosteen produce dye from anthocyanin which can be formulated into Eyeshadow, the higher the concentration of extract hence the sharper the resulting color. Eyeshadow produced from super red dragon fruit mesokarp and mangosteen produce an irritation index of 0.04-0.99

Abstract

Dry skin is defined to describe the loss or decrease in the moisture content of the stratum corneum (SC). Skin looks healthy if the outer layer contains 10% water. A research on the formulation and evaluation of tomato lyophilisate cream (Solanum lycopersicum L) has been done to improve moisture in the skin. The aim of this study is to know the physical stability of Tomato Fruit lyophilisate Cream formula (Solanum lycopersicum L) and to determine the concentration of tomato lyophilisate (Solanum lycorpersicum L) that is optimal for increasing moisture of the skin. Tomato lyophilisate had been conducted to formulate in M / A type cream. Tomato lyophilisate cream was evaluated physic stability and effectiveness as a moisturizer using skin analyzer intrument with 9 panelist. The results show that the physical stability evaluation test obtained formula 1, 2, and 3 is a stable formula. The results of the humidity test showed a persent increase in humidity in F1 (tomato 1% lyophilicat) is 11%, F2 (tomato 3% lyophilicates) is 22%, and F3 (5% tomato lithium phytate) is 39%. The best formula for improving moisture is formula III with an increase of 39% with a concentration of 5% tomato lithophilicity cream. Keyword : Cream, Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L), Moisturizer.
