Abstract

Demand elasticities in two major markets for Indonesian shrimp, The USA and Japan, were analyzed as a basis for identifying factors influencing import of the commodity by two countries. Price of tuna. per capita fish consumtion and import volume from India were found to be significant factors intluencing import of Indonesian shrimp by Japanese market. In the case of the USA market, the estimate model failed to explain the factors influencing import. Hygienic factor is supposed to be major factor responsible for the failure of Indonesian Shrimp to enterinto The USA market.

Abstract

The development of fish culture in DAS Citarum in concentrated in Jatiluhur, Saguling and Cirata reservoirs. The main objective of these fish culture development in those three reservoirs is over come the job occupations lost of the farmers located in that areas due to the reservoir establisment. In order to develop the fish culture system, which is relatively still new, a lot of improvement is still required especially in terms of its management and technological aspects. Due to these condision, an analysis of this business is necessary to ber conducted in order so provide some information for development. This study shows that profit gained from the fish culture in these reservoir are Rp 1.495.400/pond/year in Jatiluhur. Rp 1.680.200/pond/year in Saguling and Rp 1.485.560/pond/year in Cirata.

Abstract

The objective of this study are (1) to identify the consumers preference to the atributtes of canned-fish products, and (2) to identify the consumers preference to the type of canned-fish products which ideal.The methodology used in the study is case study, and the purposive sampling technique for sampling method as well. Some statistical models that used in this research are Concordance/Kendall Cooeficient Technique, and Multi atributtes models.This study results that consumers preference to the atributte of canned-fish products is ordered by the following considerations: (1) Brand, (2) Taste, (3) Weight, (4) Price, and (5) The type of can. The statistical result indicate that the correlation between Sardines, Mackerels, Tunas, Salmons, and Crabs are significant at 99,5% level of significance, 97,5% for Skipper and 99% for tiram.
