Abstract

The existence of madrasas or schools based in pesantren portrays explicitly an integrated educational institution. Nevertheless, reality at the operational level does not fully indicate so. In fact  madrasa and pesantren is managed partially rather than managed as an integrated education system. This article is intended to analyze the opportunities of synergizing the Islamic education system between pesantren and madrasas/schools gathered in one framework in order to become more effective islamic educational institutions. By using qualitative methode, the results of this study indicate that the opportunity to synergize pesantren and madrasas as alternative educational institutions is very wide open considering the education system that runs between the two is generally still separate. This step can be started by uniting management into an integral system, implementing an integrated and correlated curriculum and evaluating comprehensively. With the various excellences possessed by each pesantren and madrasa, synergizing these two institutions is the most effective way to realize a quality education output both in the field of religious knowledge and general knowledge.

Abstract

The reference books on philosophy of Islamic education can be analyzed from two perspectives: as a culture product and as a culture producer. By the first perspective, the reference books are reflection of “dominant episteme”, whereas by the second one, the reference books had constructed a domain of public knowledge. Based on this, the reference books have epistemic and authoritive functions for an academic actualization process. In such case, the reference books were assumed as the ideal texts. The reference books that have been studied that have been written by the Indonesian scholars, generally have still being characterized by normative-reproductive reasoning. The normative nuances were depicted by textual, analogical, and declarative reasoning, while the reproductive ones were showed by their poor relevance and justificative in model. In addition to these, they weren’t able to stimulate intellectual discourses, because of their trivial tendencies. Consequently, the concept of Islamic education tends to be “static motion”, because there is no a firm endorsement from empirical researches, critical paradigms, and progressive formulation.  Buku-buku referensi filsafat pendidikan Islam bisa dianalisis dari dua perspektif, yaitu sebagai produk budaya dan produsen budaya. Dari perspektif pertama, buku referensi adalah cerminan nalar dominan, sedangkan dari perspektif kedua, buku referensi membangun ranah pengetahuan publik. Dengan demikian, buku referensi memiliki fungsi epistemik dan otoritatif bagi proses aktulaisasi akademik. Di sini buku referensi dianggap sebagai ”teks ideal”. Buku referensi yang dikaji ini ditulis oleh sarjana Tanah Air, yang secara umum masih ditandai dengan penalaran normatif-reproduktif. Nuansa normatif tergambar oleh penalaran tekstual, analogis, dan deklaratif, sedangkan nuansa reproduktif ditunjukkan oleh relevansi yang minim dan model justifikatif. Selain itu, buku referensi tersebut kurang mampu merangsang wacana intelektual karena kecenderungan trivialnya. Konsekuensinya, konsep pendidikan Islam mengarah pada gerak di tempat karena lemahnya dukungan riset empiris, paradigma kritis, dan formulasi progresif.

Abstract

Religious moderation is a moderate attitude of understanding and practicing worship in a balanced and not excessive religion. This study aims to describe the implementation of community worship practices and attitude of religious moderation for students of UIN Fatmawati Bengkulu. The research method used descriptive qualitative with determined the research subjects using a purposive sampling technique: students and educators. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and observations. The data validity test in this study is the triangulation of data sources. The study results showed two findings. First, the implementation of community worship practices takes place by focusing on oneself and the surrounding environment, understanding the theory, then practicing lectures slowly, and inviting the community to achieve a strong community of religious understanding and practice. Second, the attitude of religious moderation takes place by internalizing religious values ​​that are neither extreme right nor extreme left, which are carried out in the subject of community worship practices, namely equivalence and fairness.

Abstract

This research is aimed to trace the thoughts and actions as efforts to achieve the vision and mission of state institutes for Islamic studies of Purwokerto (IAIN). The study is directed to answer the following questions. Firstly, why transformative Islam becomes a discourse on curriculum development. Secondly, how a discourse of transformative Islam implicates in curriculum development at the state institute for Islamic studies of Purwokerto (IAIN). Then, the findings show that a discourse of Islam transformative in curriculum development at state institute for Islamic studies of Purwokerto (IAIN) emerges as a result of incapability of traditional and modern Islam perspective to resolve people’s problem due to lack of critical understanding of the meaning and message of the Qur’an and Hadith. Then, the implication of Islamic transformative discourse in curriculum development at the state institute for Islamic studies of Purwokerto can be seen in its intra curricular activities, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. Through intra-curricular activities, transformative Islam is embodied in Islamic building lectures. In the co-curricular programs, Islam is indigenized through the activity of knowledge and practice of worship (nationally abbreviated PPI), while within extra-curricular activities transformative Islamic values come into student activities which are strongly supported by policies of university leaders.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the benefits of reading corners in fostering a programmed interest in reading at SDN Ringinsari. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques using interviews and observation. Data analysis techniques were carried out descriptively by looking at the results of interviews and observations. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the use of a reading corner for fourth grade students at SD Negeri Ringisari is that there is a reading corner in the classroom to bring knowledge sources closer to students and to foster basic literacy. Increasing the frequency of reading students because at will they can read books in the reading corner, the use of the reading corner in the learning process is done 15 minutes before learning begins and when it is empty, the class reading corner is neatly arranged at the beginning of learning until the end of learning to make it easier for students to find the book you want to read.

Abstract

Keterampilan dasar mengajar merupakan keterampilan harus dimiliki oleh setiap guru yang mengajar, karena keterampilan ini merupakan dasar atau kompetensi yang harus dimiliki dengan tujuan pembelajaran di kelas dapat terwujud dengan semaksimal mungkin sesuai dengan apa yang diharapkan. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini untuk mengetahui keterampilan dasar guru dalam pembelajaran pendidikan agama Islam dengan cara mengetahui jenis, fungsi dan peran serta tujuan keterampilan dasar guru dalam pendidikan islam. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode penelitian kepustakaan (library research). Berdasarkan analisis dari sumber data, maka bisa disimpulkan bahwa keterampilan dasar guru dalam pembelajaran pendidikan agama Islam ialah seorang guru harus mampu memberikan tanggung jawab kepada peserta didiknya sehingga peserta didik tersebut merasakan kenyaman dalam belajar agar siswa tersebut nyaman dalam proses kegiatan belajar mengajar maka seorang guru dituntut memiliki keterampilan.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the negotiations between two Islamic movement organizations, Salafi and Jamaah Ansharus Syariah (JAS), as conservative Islamic movements whose main goal is to return to the original sources of Islam, the Qur'an and As-Sunnah. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research design with data collection methods through observation, interactive interviews, and documentation conducted in two educational institutions owned by Salafi and JAS, using primary and secondary data sources. The research findings are as follows. First, it shows that Salafi and JAS, as fundamentalist movement groups, are capable of conducting cooperative negotiations using the concept of political agonism. Second, the negotiation process of Salafi and JAS emphasizes the concept of nationalism for the sake of the operational interests of educational institutions. Third, Salafi and JAS develop their movement ideology among students and their parents. This research portrays the existence of Pseudo Nationalism, positioning themselves in a contemporary style and acting as an anchor for balance, thereby impacting the existence and strengthening of their ideology.

Abstract

Radicalism comes from the Latin radix, meaning "roots", which is an ideology that requires major changes and reforms to progress. Radicalism has become a transnational movement that has penetrated into various countries that are considered strategic by its adherents. Radicalism is very dangerous if it has spread in universities. The purpose of this study was to find out how the perceptions of English Literature students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta towards Religious Radicalism. This research is a qualitative research using a survey approach. Data collection techniques that researchers use are observation, interviews and questionnaires. The results of this study indicate that students have a good understanding of religious radicalism. Students know and are aware that the actions of radicalism are not synonymous with Islam, realize that it is permissible to work with people outside of Islam, and are aware of the need for students to spread radicalism.
