Abstract

Kemajuan informasi dan teknologi telah mempengaruhi banyak aspek kehidupan termasuk pendidikan. khususnya teknologi internet yang memberikan efek positif terhadap pendidikan khususnya dalam proses khususnya pembelajaran pemahaman membaca dalam Bahasa Inggris. Di masa lalu, pembelajaran membaca masih menggunakan metode konvensional seperti buku, modul, dan papan tulis, tetapi saat ini seiring dengan kemajuan zaman dosen dan mahasiswa dapat menggunakan teknologi multimedia interaktif seperti, smartphone, dan desktop computer yang dapat membuat pembelajaran menjadi lebih efektif, inovatif, kreatif dan interaktif. Dalam penelitian kualitatif ini penulis mencoba menganalisis teknologi baru yaitu google classroom sebagai solusi untuk masalah lama dalam pengajaran pemahaman membaca dalam Bahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci: mengajar, bahasa Inggris, membaca, google classroom, teknologi The Advances of information and technology have influenced many aspects of life including education. Especially the internet which has a very positive effect on education, especially in the process, especially reading comprehension in English. In the past, teaching Reading still used conventional methods such as books, modules, and blackboards, but nowadays in this digital era with the advancement of time lecturers and students can use interactive multimedia technologies such as smartphones and desktop computers that can make learning more effective, innovative, creative and interactive. In this qualitative study, the author tries to analyse the new technology, the Google classroom as a solution of the old problems in studying Reading comprehension.Keywords: teaching, English, Reading, Google classroom, technology

Abstract

This research mostly discusses the politeness strategies that is shown in Little Women movie. Politeness is a social behaviour to a speaker towards deferent wishes of the addressee in different concerns. The purpose of this study is to find the politeness strategies and the most-frequent strategy that is used in Little Women movie. Based on Brown and Levinson (1978), there are four types of politeness strategies. Those are bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record. Descriptive qualitative method was selected to analysed the data. The theory that are applied in this study are Brown and Levinson’s theory (1978), which concerns about the politeness strategies. The result of this term paper was shown that all of the characters use all the politeness strategies from Brown and Levinson and the most frequent strategy that is used by the characters is positive politeness. The researchers hope that this research will help the readers to get a better understanding about politeness strategies based on Brown and Levinson.

Abstract

Fishing vessels used to catch resources from the sea has to pass some of the regulations from International Maritime Organization for sea-worthiness of the vessel especially about stability, resistance to acquire the highest velocity, and the vessel’s motion. This research discusses the effect of the vessel’s dimension and the hull shape by using the stability standard from IMO.The result shows that the ratio of the B/T which meets the stability criteria is 2.50 with the ratio of KG/H of the vessel is 0.65, with the assumption that the KG and H of the vessel are more than 0.70. Whereas if the resistance ratio B/T is big, the resistance for the vessel will be relatively smaller. In terms of the vessel motion, a vessel with a V-type hull will better than a U-type hull in seakeeping.

Abstract

Anchor is a device for tethering a ship to the bottom of the water, in the sea, river, or lake, so that it does not move from place to place due to gusts of wind, current, or waves. Anchors are heavy equipment that is dropped to the seabed from a ship or boat to maintain its position so that it does not drift. PT X has several tug boats, small vessels whose function is to pull or push large ships in port. In addition, this ship also functions to pull barges filled with coal from the coal processing plant to be brought to the port, where the coal is unloaded to be carried by transport trucks. On these barges, damage to the anchor machine often occurs, especially the teeth on the gear-box, axle pulleys (pulleys), the main shaft of the main-gear (main gear), the gear-box casing, the teeth on the main-gear and others which have been sufficient so far. Interfere with operations, and the ship becomes idle. For this reason, this research was conducted to study the change in the anchor system from the glide model to a new system in the hanging model, in order to reduce the use of anchor winch power and avoid damage to the gear-box and anchor engine.
