Abstract

The concept of utilitarian welfare in Indonesia is identically applied to the implementation of the government's fiscal capacity policy. The research design is a quantitative concept, namely an experimental design using the weights of measuring income per capital, taxes, subsidies as a function of Iriani-Tamoka welfare with the central government constraint is to maximize the social welfare of the community. The results of the study found that government behavior in setting the tax burden is identical to utilitarian behavior in maximizing the welfare of its people. The government's transfer policy through social assistance and social security which is distributed to the community as an effort by the government to maximize utility through public welfare under the constraints of subsidy allocation and the multiplier effect caused by the determination of government taxes is identical to Rawlsian's behavior.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see the relationship between fiscal decentralization and unemployment in Indonesia, in this study uses panel data from 2017-2021. Where the results show that fiscal decentralization has a relationship with unemployment, but on the other hand, the level of civility and regional dependence to reduce unemployment has a negative impact, but the allocation of APBD funds is by existing regulations but still needs supervision from the central government and the area itself. Each region should seek to increase investment to reduce unemployment so that it can create jobs.

Abstract

This research is intended to empirically examine the efficiency and productivity change of 26 regional development banks (BPDs) in Indonesia in 2011-2016 using a non-parametric approach of data envelopment analysis (DEA). This research was started by determining input and output variables based on three approaches, i.e., intermediation, operation, and the asset approach. The Multi-stage DEA was adopted to generate the efficiency score, and the input-orientated variable return to scale (VRS) assumption is specified in data analysis. The Malmquist Productivity Index (MPI) was used to measure the total factor productivity change indicating the improvement or deterioration of performance of BPDs over time. The multi-stage DEA result shows a significant difference in the number of efficient BPDs using the three approaches. MPI shows that the highest productivity increase was in the asset approach of 84.0%, supported by the increase in efficiency change and technological change. While in intermediation and operation approach, the increase was only 44.0% and 36.0%, depending on the increase in efficiency change and scale efficiency change. This research suggests that BPDs need to invest more in technology to increase firm efficiency.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze regional financial independence, regional financial capabilities, and their impact on economic growth in Riau province. To analyze it, it uses the calculation of the ratio of financial independence and the ratio of regional financial capabilities and uses the degree of fiscal decentralization, while the economic growth rate uses the PDRB of Riau province. Data was used in 2017-2022 with data processing using the Stata 15 application. From the analysis, the level of financial independence in Riau province for 2017-2019 is very low with an instructive relationship pattern, meaning that the central government is dominant in financial independence when compared to the role of the Riau provincial government itself. In 2020-2022, the ratio of financial independence of the Riau province is low with a pattern of constructive relations, meaning that the role of the central government is slightly reduced and the role of the central government, in this case, is only a consulting provider related to the implementation of regional autonomy in the Riau region. The ratio of regional financial capabilities in Riau province is still in the sufficient category for 2017-2018 and 2021-2022 and the category is less for 2019-2020, meaning that the role of the central government is still needed but not as large as the previous year. Partially only the financial capabilities of the regions affect economic growth but simultaneously both free variables have no effect. This means that the higher the regional financial capability, the more economic growth in Riau. If regional financial independence is higher, it will not have an impact on increasing economic growth in Riau.

Abstract

High competition in the financial sector forces banks to increase non-interest income to be able to escape the banking crisis and compete in the global economy, one of which is through bancassurance cooperation . This research was conducted to determine the effect of bancassurance on banking firm value with profitability as a mediating variable. The research sample consisted of 142 conventional commercial banks listed on the stock exchanges of each APEC member country and available in the eikon reflective database for the 2016-2022 period which were selected by purposive sampling . Panel data regression was performed to test the direct effect, followed by the Sobel test to test the indirect effect. The results of the study show that bancassurance has a significant direct or indirect effect on the value of banking companies through bank profitability. Bancassurance commissions obtained by banks are able to increase fee-based income and generate greater bank profitability, thus encouraging an increase in the value of banking companies. Positive results of bancassurance on banking profitability and value, are expected to encourage APEC member countries to further optimize bancassurance supported by regulations from the government.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate to which extend does Enterprise Risk Management Advanced (ERMADV) implementation impacts the firm performance and the moderated value by ESG performance. The assessment of ERMADV implementation level is conducted by using eight components derived from governance and firm operating activities with related measurements on Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) principle and COSO ERM-Integrated Framework. Board Gender Diversity, Board of Commissioner Size, Firm Size, Leverage and Return on Equity (ROE) were further included in this study as control variables. This study focuses on the manufacture and mining industry registered on the Indonesia Stock Exchange website from year 2015 to 2021. The findings of this research indicate that ERMADV significantly affects firm performance and value. In addition, it is discovered that ESG plays a moderating influence. Furthermore, ESG suggests that an advanced ERM framework will prioritize risks associated with ESG-related aspects to find out whether or not it is resilient and integrated. As a result, this strategy will direct organizations in developing ethical decision-making strategies, thus, improving financial performance and firm value.

Abstract

This research is intended to examine the influence of political connections, outside directors, independent commissioners and gender of directors on the performance of regional development banks with financial innovation as a moderating variable. The object in this study is the 2017-2021 Regional Development Bank (BPD). The total sample in this study was 26 BPD. The analytical method used in this research is to carry out Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis assisted by the SmartPLS 3.0 program. The findings show that political connections have no effect on BPD performance, outside directors have a negative and significant effect on BPD performance, independent commissioners have no effect on BPD performance, directors' gender has a positive and significant effect on BPD performance, financial innovation does not moderate the influence of political connections on BPD performance, financial innovation moderates the influence of outside directors on BPD performance, financial innovation moderates the influence of independent commissioners on BPD performance, and financial innovation does not moderate the influence of directors' gender on BPD performance. It is hoped that the results of this research can contribute to academics in adding to the literature regarding the financial performance of Regional Development Banks (BPD) and also increase insight for companies in improving financial performance.
