Abstract

Penelitian deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Habits of Mind  matematik mahasiswa calon guru dilihat dari 16 indikator dan tiap indikator dari habits of mind. Subjek dalam  penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa calon guru berjumlah 45 orang terdiri dari 39 orang perenpuan dan 6 orang laki-laki .  Tujuan dalam penelitian ini untuk menelaah bagaimana habits of mind matematik mahasiswa calon guru matematika  dilihat dari seluruh inidkator maupun per indikator berdasarkan presentase dan nilai rata-rata yang didapat oleh mahasiswa calon guru matematika dan  menelaah dari 16 indikator habits of mind yang diteliti pada indikator yang mana  sikap mahasiswa calon guru matematika bersifat sangat kuat, kuat dan cukup dan bersifat positif atau negatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu dengan pengisian  angket habits of mind. Berdasarkan hasil  analisis data angket Habit of Minds didapatkan hasil bahwa secara keseluruhan sikap mahasiswa calon guru matematika berada pada kriteria kuat, indikator tertinggi didapat pada indikator berpikir luwes, sedangkan indikator terendah terletak pada indikator berani bertanggung jawab dan menghadapi resiko. Kemudian berdasarkan rata-rata nilai sikap mahasiswa calon guru matematika secara keseluruhan terhadap 16 indikator habits of mind berada pada level positif. Indikator tertinggi terletak pada berpikir luwes sedangkan indicator teendah terletak pada indicator berani bertanggung jawab dan menghadapi resiko.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kesalahan siswa SMP dalam menyelesaikan soal Aritmatika Sosial, dengan jumlah subjek 37 siswa kelas VII. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen tesnya berupa soal uraian (esai) yang berjumlah lima soal. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, persentase rata-rata siswa melakukan kesalahan pada tahap membaca soal sebesar 0%, memahami masalah sebesar 23,2%, transformasi masalah sebesar 28,6%, pada keterampilan proses sebesar 44,9%, dan penulisan jawaban akhir sebesar 78,4%. Dari hasil analisis diperoleh bahwa siswa melakukan empat jenis kesalahan yaitu: Kesalahan dalam penulisan satuan uang; Kesalahan dalam menuliskan unsur yang diketahui dan ditanyakan; Kesalahan dalam menggunakan rumus; dan Kesalahan dalam penarikan kesimpulan.

Abstract

This paper reports findings of  a  post test experimental control group design conducted to investigate the role of modified Moore learning approach  on improving students’ mathematical understanding and proving abilities. Subject of study were 56 undergradute students of one state university in Bandung, who took advanced abstract algebra course. Instrument of study were a set test of mathematical understanding ability, a set test of mathematical proving ability, and a set of students’ opinion scale on modified Moore learning approach. Data were analyzed by using two path ANOVA. The study found that proof construction process was more difficult than mathematical understanding  task  for all students, and students still posed some difficulties on constructing mathematical proof task.  The study also found there were not differences  between students’  abilities on mathematical understanding and on proving abilities of  the both classes, and both abilities were classified as mediocre. However, in modified Moore learning approach class there were more students who got above average grades on mathematical understanding than those of conventional class. Moreover, students performed positive  opinion toward  modified Moore learning approach. They  were  active in questioning and solving problems, and in explaining their works in front of class as well, while students of conventional teaching prefered to listen to lecturer’s explanation. The study also found that there was no interaction between learning approach and students’ prior mathematics ability on mathematical understanding and proving abilities,  but  there were  quite strong  association between students’ mathematical understanding and proving abilities.Keywords:  modified Moore learning approach, mathematical understanding ability, mathematical proving ability. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.22342/jme.2.2.751.231-250

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to examine the implementation of problem solving approach in achieving the ability of creative thinking and students' habits of mind. This quasi-experimental study took all of students in one private of MTs in Purwasari-Karawang as population. Two classes of experiment class (problem solving approach) were selected for 28 students, and control class (conventional learning) of 30 students. Quantitative data analysis uses SPSS 17 for windows. The results showed that the the implementation of mathematics learning process with problem solving approach is quite effective.The achievement of students' mathematical creative thinking ability using problem solving approach is not better than students who use conventional learning. There is no difference in the ability of mathematical creative thinking as well as students' thinking habits in both learning groups.Keyword:  Problem Solving approach, The Ability of Creative Thinking Mathematically, and Habits of Mind

Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability of strategic competence and mathematical disposition in mathematical learning using inquiry method of alberta model and correlation between the two. The subjects of this study are students of SMP class VII as many as two classes with a total of 70 students. The instruments used in data collection are written test of description for strategic competence and mathematical disposition and alberta model inquiry method. The research used a quasi experiment. Data on strategic competence and mathematical disposition were analyzed using Mann Whitney nonparametric tests. The results of this study are: (1) Improvement of students' strategic competency skills whose learning method using Inquiry Model Alberta is better than the usual method; (2) The mathematical disposition of students whose learning method using the Inquiry Model Alberta is better than the usual method; (3) There is a correlation between the ability of strategic competence with mathematical disposition of students whose learning method using Inquiry Model Alberta

Abstract

This study was a pre test-post test experiment without control group design having a goal to examine the role of Prior Mathematics Ability (PMA), Sylver  approach (SA) toward student’s mathematical creative thinking ability (MCTA) and Self Regulated Learning (SRL).  The study involved  65 eleven  grade student, a PMA test, a MCTA test, and SRL scale. The study found that PMA and SA took good role on obtaining student’s MCTA, its N<Gain> and SRL. On student’s MCTA, and its N<Gain> students getting treatment with SA attained better grades than that of students taught by conventional teaching, and the  grades were still at medium level.  On SRL,  there was no different grades between students on both teaching approaches, and those grades were at fairly good  level.  The other findings, there was no association between MCTA and SRL, and students performed high perception toward SA.

Abstract

Tujuan pada riset ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas XI SMK pada materi matriks yang dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Reciprocal Teaching. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas atau classroom action research. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus yang setiap siklusnya memiliki empat tahapan yaitu perencanaan, pelaksaaan, pengamatan serta refleksi. Adapun subjek pada penelitian yaitu kelas XI di SMK Nurul Fallah Cikalongkulon Cianjur tahun pelajaran 2021/2022, yang dipilih adalah kelas XI-Akodomi perhotelan dengan jumlah peserta didik yaitu 28 orang. Instrumen penelitian dengan menggunakan tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Menurut hasil penelitian, penerapan model Reciprocal Teaching dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dalam materi matriks hal ini dapat dilihat dari ketuntasan klasikal siswa dan analisis N-Gain. Pada tes akhir Siklus I hasil belajar siswa masih banyak yang belum memenuhi Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) sehingga tidak mencapai indikator keberhasilan yang ditetapkan dan hasil efektivitas N-Gain pun termasuk kedalam kategori tidak efektif selanjutnya pada tes akhir Siklus II hasil belajar siswa sudah memenuhi Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) sehingga sudah mencapai indikator keberhasilan yang ditetapkan dan hasil perhitungan efektivitas N-Gain pun termasuk kedalah kategori efektif, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model Reciprocal Teaching dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa pada materi matriks kelas X SMK Nurul Fallah Cikalongkulon Cianjur.
