Maternal mortality rates in 2016 rose compared to 2015. The causes of maternal death in 2016 were Severe Preeclampsia (PEB) as much as 33% (4 cases), Bleeding by 17% (2 cases), Heart Failure 17% (2 cases), Sepsis 17% (2 cases) and Other 16% (2 cases). Some studies state that preeclampsia occurs due to the influence of anxiety during pregnancy. Pregnancy is a period of crisis that involves also psychological factors, hormonal changes causing the mother's emotions to become lame. In addition to physical factors, psycho social factors can add anxiety in pregnant women. The hormone cortisol is an increased hormone in anxiety so by masterminding this hormone can lower the anxiety levels of pregnant women which has an impact on the decreased risk of PEB. Look at the effect of Yoga exercise on cortisol hormone levels in pregnant women. This type of quantitative research is True Experimental research method, with Posttest-Only Control Group Design. Respondents who used pregnant women who participated in prenatal yoga, samples taken with the Formula Freeder obtained 16 pregnant women with control as many as 16. Data analysis was performed using the Pearson Chi-Square test with a result of p <0.00 which indicates a correlation. There is an effect of yoga on cortisol levels in pregnant women.

Abstract

Background: Dysmenorrhea is medical condition indicated by an increase of the prostaglandin (PG) F2-alpha hormone and cyclooxygenase (COX-2) causing hypertonic as well as vasoconstriction activity to the myometrium. It leads to ischemia and stimulating pain in the uterine organs. The condition influence quality of life and productivity of majority female patients. Dysmenorrhea incidence in Indonesia is reported by 64.25% and a total of 52% of students in Yogyakarta experienced drop activity during menstruation. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of TENS in reducing primary dysmenorrhea pain among female adolescents in General Ahmad Yani University YogyakartaMethods: A quasi experiment study with pretest-posttest control group design was conducted. A total of 24 participants for intervention and control group were recruited. In order to recruit study participants, this research implemented a quota sampling approach. Primary dysmenorrhea pain measured using Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) and bivariate analysis between both groups carried out using T-test.Results: A significant difference (p<0.05) reported from both groups before and after the intervention. Prior to the treatment, the average pain score for intervention group was 6 (1.70) and ranging from 4-10. After the treatment being delivered, the intervention group experienced lower pain intensity by average 3.42 (1.6) between 1-6 score range. Control group in this study reported average pain score before the intervention by 4 (1.16) with and ranging from 3-6. The treatment decreased control group participants pain level to average 1.50 (0.52) between the range of 1-2. TENS is effective for severe pain management. Effleurage massage suitable for moderate level pain management. TENS intervention effective to lower pain by 3.50%.Conclusions: TENS and massage intervention potential to decrease pain intensity of primary dysmenorrhea. This study reported lower pain level associated with TENS by 3.50%. TENS had significant effect for reducing dysmenorrhea pain by 3.50%.

Abstract

Background: The incidence of Section Caesarea (SC) based on the results of the 2018, states that the highest prevalence is in the DKI Jakarta area with a percentage reached 31.3% while the Papua region percentage is only 6.7%. It is known  that the causes of birth with CS include, a narrow pelvis, disproportion of the fetal head, malposition of the fetus, and disorders of the descent of the fetal head which often cause complaints of symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD). Every pregnant woman needs to empower herself to increase her self-confidence in facing the pregnancy process until before delivery. Several studies have stated that practicing yoga during pregnancy can reduce pregnancy complaints. During the Covid-19 pandemic, pregnant women were limited to doing activities outside the home. In this case, independent yoga media is needed that is safe, easy to understand, and as a guide for pregnant women, both in the form of videos, flashcards, spin cards, and picture cards of practical yoga movements. Objectives: To find out the effectiveness of yoga movements in dealing with complaints of symphysis pubis dysfunction in pregnancy. Methods: This research method uses quasi-experimental research with a one-group pre-test design which reveals a causal relationship involving one group of subjects. Respondents consisted of 25 pregnant women entering the third trimester of pregnancy with the inclusion criteria of pregnant women experiencing dysfunction of the symphysis pubis before the intervention. The interventions that will be carried out are measuring pain scales, printing yoga movement cards, teaching, and doing yoga 4 times in 1 month. Results: It is known that the number of respondents who did yoga before the intervention was mostly in the mild pain category (36%) and moderate (28%). After the intervention, the majority of respondents were in the no-pain category (44%). Respondents with severe pain before intervention (16%) decreased to (8%) post-intervention. The results of statistical tests using the Wilcoxon test obtained p = 0.036 where this value is below 0.05, which means that there is an effect of yoga movements in reducing complaints of symphysis pubis dysfunction in pregnancy. Conclusions: From the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that there is an influence of yoga movements in reducing complaints of symphysis pubis dysfunction in pregnancy. There were significant changes in pregnant women before and after the intervention. Therefore pregnant women are encouraged to do yoga regularly to reduce complaints of pregnancy discomfort which can interfere with the delivery process.
