Abstract

The current global climate change also has an influence on climate or season in Indonesia. Coastal communities in Jeneponto who work as farmers salt still traditional. Dependence of production activities with weather and climate conditions causes the amount of production to fluctuate. This research aims to (1) analyzing climate projections (rainfall and season length), (2) estimating salt production, and (3) knowing the effect of climate change on the business sustainability (production) of salt in the future. Observation rainfall, RCP 4.5 scenario, and salt production data from 2009 to 2018 were regressed and analyzed descriptively and temporally up to 2100. The results showed an increasing in rainfall and dry season are becoming shorter. The estimated percentage of occurrence salt production above average is 51,3%. Climate change gives effect on salt farming time is getting shorter and salt crystallization time is getting longer. Salt production is more affected by rainfall than season length. The business sustainability (production) of salt in the future is still quite good and need for adaptation measures to face climate change.

Abstract

Liukang Tuppabiring is a waters with marine biodiversity potential large enough to be developed and managed sustainably. Utilization around the coral reefs in the waters of the Liukang Tuppabiring sub-district currently tends to lead to destructive use, so it is necessary to take damage prevention measures immediately. The results showed the condition of coral cover in the medium and damaged, while at stations 1,2,3,4,6 (25,47-41.07%), while conditions were good at station 5 (56.20%). The number of individual reef fish is 290 individuals from 46 species of 22 genera 11 families. At the research location also identified one type of protected biota namely Hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata). Coral damage that occurred at 6 observation stations was more caused by the practice of using destructive and environmentally unfriendly fishing equipment such as bombs, trawls, and the use of poisons. The priority strategies undertaken in the management of coral reefs at the study site are 1) Management of environmentally friendly coral reefs where the community as a manager with strong support from the Government; 2) Making clear rules related to utilization in coral reef areas and establishing a POSMAKWAS institution to avoid more severe coral damage; 3) Improve supervision and law enforcement must be firm in relation to the use of fishing gear that can damage coral reef ecosystems.

Abstract

One of the policies issued by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in anticipation of the occurrence of IUU Fishing is the moratorium policy of ex-foreign vessels as stipulated in Ministerial Regulation No. 56/2014. The presence of this policy is also one way to overcome the exploitation of Indonesia's marine resources. This study aims to determine the differences in fish catches smaller than 30 GT, knowing the impact of the moratorium policy on permits for ex-foreign vessels to catch smaller fishermen 30 GT and knowing the direction of fisheries resource management in the Republic of Indonesia fisheries management area RI) 716. The comparative analysis of the two samples correlated with the results turns out that there are differences in the level of catches of the smaller fishermen 30 GT before and after the moratorium (2013 and 2016). The impact of the moratorium on the licensing of ex-foreign vessels on fishermen has led to an increase in unemployment of local ABK and ex-foreign ship crews, while fishing vessels smaller than 30 GT have increased their catch. The fisheries resource management strategy in the fisheries management area (WPPRI) 716 is to build cooperation of all relevant agencies that allow access to capital and provide guidance in terms of increasing knowledge and skills to increase fishermen's catches by 30 GT to the direction of fisheries management.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the potential and percentage of coral reef cover, know the tourism suitability index and environmental carrying capacity, know the direction of coral reef ecosystem management. The research method is using UPT (Underwater Photo Transect), as well as measurement of environmental parameters on Larea-rea Island. Data analysis using CPCe 4.1 software, and Arcgis 10.8. Than, an analysis of the suitability of diving tourism and an analysis of the carrying capacity of the area is carried out (Yulianda, 2018).The results of this study indicate that the percentage of potential coral reef cover at all stations is 10-36%, indicating that the coral condition is not good (according to the conditions). The number of lifeform types ranged from 8-12, while the number of fish species obtained was 37-44 species. The suitability class category based on the results of the analysis at the three stations obtained the appropriate category (S2), with a percentage of the IKW value of 50-67%. Then, area carrying capacity (DDK) in the diving tourism category is an average of 528 people / day from the three stations.Management and development of marine tourism can be done by determining the zone of utilization and rehabilitation of coral reef ecosystems, as well as limiting visitors for certain periods to reduce the potential impact of environmental degradation.
