Abstract

Abstract

Milkfish (Chanos chanos Forskall) is a consumption fish that is quite popular in Indonesia. Thornless milkfish is a semi-finished fishery product in the form of fresh raw milkfish which has been removed from the bone. The advantage is not reducing the nutritional content because the processing only removes thorns. This activity aims to transfer the technology of thornless milkfish processing to mothers and young women in the Cahaya Lakkang and Jaya Lakkang groups in Kelurahan Lakkang, Kecamatan Tallo, Kota Makassar. The activities offered are in the form of counseling, training and field practice. The method of approach adopted is a participatory approach. Training material consists of: (1) introduction of the characteristics of fresh milk fish; (2) arrangement and number of thorns found in milkfish; (3) interesting techniques for fish spines; (4) packing practice. The results of the implementation of thornless milkfish processing indicate that: 1) increased knowledge and skills of the target audience in processing milkfish without thorns; 2) Approximate 80-70% yield of milkfish without spines.

Abstract

Fishery products are one of the products that have very limited durability and perishable so that the community, especially fishermen, preserve the product so that its freshness can last longer. One of the preservatives used is formalin, although it is very dangerous to human health. Some food products that contain formalin include: fresh fish, salted fish, tofu, wet noodles. Counseling on food safety needs to be continued widely to the public in various forms. This activity aims to educate and train partner groups on: 1) the dangers of formaldehyde on health; 2) characteristics of formalin food ingredients; 3) how to detect formalin foods; 4) eliminate / reduce formaldehyde levels in food products; 5) safe preservatives. The activities was carried out on February 7, 2019, in Desa Untia, Kecamatan Biringkanaya, Kota Makassar. The target group is fishermen and fisheries processors, as many as 23 people. The method used in service is counseling and training methods through lectures, discussions, and practice/training. The extension activity was attended by Untia village chiefs, local fisheries instructors, administrators of the All-Indonesian Fishermen Association (HNSI) and the target group. The activities went on smoothly and the target group enthusiastically attended counseling and training, because the knowledge/skills were needed to protect their families from the dangers of disease that could be caused by inappropriate use of formalin.

Abstract

The aims of this study were to examine the potential of mangroves and the factors causing mangrove damage, analyze the economic valuation of mangroves and formulate a mangrove ecosystem management strategy in South Larompong Subdistrict. Data collection was carried out by using purposive sampling with a number of respondents of 65 people. Data was then processed and analyzed descriptively, spatially, and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results showed that there was a reduction in the mangrove area about 69.89 Ha from 2014-2018 due to the conversion of mangroves into ponds and settlements. The total economic value of mangroves in 2018 was Rp. 86.603.426.151, consisting of direct use value of Rp. 61.428.000.000, indirect use value (Indirect use value) of Rp. 7.638.926.151, option value of Rp. 15.114.000.000, and the existence value of Rp. 2.422.500.000. The instructions of mangrove management in South Larompong Subdistrict are planning the use of mangrove ecosystems, conservation and rehabilitation, providing extension on preservation of mangroves, optimizing the utilization of mangrove resources, strengthening community institutions, and law enforcement. Keywords: Mangrove Ecosystem, Level of Damage, Economic Valuation.

Abstract

Evaluation of the implementation of good management of fish hatchery (CPIB) at the shrimp hatchery unit of the Departmen of marine and fishery in south Sulawesi province in Bojo, Barru regensy. This research was conducted in February 2019 until April 2019 at the shrimp hatchery until of the Departmen of Marine and Fisheries in south Sulawesi in Bojo, Barru regency. The hatchery unit is a barometer of other shrimp hatcheries in Barru regency in particular and those in South Sulawesi province in general. Based on the results of research using the analysis method (t test) and linear regression shows that the implementation of good management of fish hatchery (CPIB) has an excellent effect on shrimp seed production and internal management factors that affect almost 70% of successful seed production are water quality management, master management, feed management, larvae management and personnel management and the remaining around 30% of production is influenced by external factors such as environment and others. To increase the production of shrimp seed in hatchery units, is it necessary to seek for adjustments and performance enhancements and still be giuded by the method of good hatchery (CPIB) in implementing the 5 production management steps as internal factors greatly determine the success level of seed production both in quantity and quality.
