Abstract

This study aims to implement an innovative and fun learning strategy, namely a formative evaluation based on the game "Kahoot and Quizizz" to increase student learning motivation during the Covid-19 pandemic period. The study was conducted for Islamic Economics courses at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi Lhokseumawe. Mixed-method research was employed in collecting data on students during the teaching-learning process for one semester. Quantitative data were obtained and analyzed from students' tests or formative evaluations and through questionnaires. Meanwhile, the qualitative data were obtained from personal in-depth interviews with several students from the experimental class. The results of this study indicate that the employment of the Kahoot and Quizizz game platforms has a positive impact on student achievement and motivation. This can be recognized from the results of the formative assessment data analysis and the responses from the questionnaire. The qualitative data also confers a positive value from the use of the Kahoot and Quizizz game applications. Four positive values emerged from the results of interviews with students regarding the application of these two applications, namely: fun, nothing boring, innovative assessment methods, and active classes.

Abstract

This research discusses the proliferation of underage beggars in Banda Aceh, the capital of the Aceh province, Indonesia. This case confronts the local law, namely Qanun No. 11 of 2013 articles 45 and paragraphs 46. The focus of this study was to identify the effectiveness of direct and indirect monitoring and inspecting of underage beggars in this capital city, and at the same time to observe the obstacles encountered in handling this issue. A qualitative method was employed in collecting the data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The result of the investigation affirmed that the obstacle in overcoming beggars is the unavailability of social rehabilitation centers. Besides, beggars who are caught are only managed after they are released, then they repeat their actions because they are constrained by their daily needs. The patrol work carried out by the Office of Social Affairs often battled with resistance, such as when they rebelled and tried to escape in order to be caught by the officers. Most beggars in the capital city of Aceh are categorized as children and elderly people so that when conducting training, it is difficult to give punishment like to other beggars. Furthermore, the minimal budget provided by the government to curb beggars also becomes a challenge, especially to control underage beggars with routine patrols.

Abstract

Penelitian ini tentang “Efektivitas Pelaksanaan Ujian Nasional Berbasis Komputer di Kota Lhokseumawe”dengan mengambil lokasi penelitian pada Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kota Lhokseumawe. Pertimbangan dipilihnya lokasi penelitian tersebut, karena timbul fenomena bahwa pelaksanaan ujian nasional berbasis komputer belum terwujud secara efektif. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memahami dan mendeksripsikan efektivitas bersama hambatannya dalam pelaksanaan ujian nasional berbasis komputer di Kota Lhokseumawe. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif dengan menggunakan teknik memperoleh data melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisa data ditempuh melalui koleksi data, mereduksi data, penyajian data dan mengambil kesimpulan (verifikasi). Informan yang digunakan sebanyak 10 orang yang ditentukan secara purposif terdiri dari Kepala. Sekretaris dan Kepala Bidang pada Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kota Lhokseumawe, Kepala sekolah bersama guru dan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan ujian nasional berbasis komputer melalui ujian mata pelajaran yanhg telah ditentukan serta memiliki tujuan untuk meningkatkan suber daya manusia bagi 2088 siswa dalam Kota Lhokseumawe. Kesimpulan bahwa program nasional ujian nasional berbasis komputer sudah dilaksanakan pada SMA, MA dan SMK di Kota Lhokseumawe, namun belum terwujud secara efektif, karena masih terdapat berbagai hambatan, sehingga masih memerlukan perbaikan dan peningkatan. Hambatannya adalah agar sekolah dapat mengadakan sarana komputer sebagai media ujian nasional berbasis komputre. Haambatan lain adalah rendahnya pengetahuan, keterampilan dan keahlian serta minimnya motivasi siswa untuk belajar ilmu komputer. Upaya yang dilakukan adalah agar Kepala sekolah dapat mengadakan sarana komputer sebagai media ujian nasional. Selain itu agar kepala sekolah selalu memberikan pembinaan, arahan dan motivasi sehingga siswa dapat menambah pengethauan, keterampulan dan keahlian serta minat pengembangan dirinya untuk mempelajari ilmu komputer sebagai media ujian nasional.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the management of digital archives at the Syar'iyah Court Office of East Aceh Regency, Indonesia, as well as finding obstacles encountered in their implementation. This research is a qualitative analysis where the subjects of this research were officers who managed digital archives at the Syar'iyah Court office. The data collection techniques employed were interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the management of digital archives at the Syar'iyah Court Office has not been implemented optimally due to three conditions, namely: 1) The creation of digital archives is hampered due to frequent power outages in East Aceh and Sarana districts which are less supportive, and lack of resources. employees who understand digital archiving issues; 2) The process of borrowing archives carried out at the Syar'iyah Court Office has not been going well because it has not used archive lending procedures such as requesting archives, searching, retrieval of archives, recording, controlling, and storing again, to prevent loss of records; 3) Archive rediscovery still takes quite a long time, ranging from 20 to 30 minutes. The management of digital archives at the Office of the Syar'iyah Idi Court of East Aceh Regency should be improved by proposing additional archiving facilities, namely the latest model scan tool and additional employees who handle digital archive issues.

Abstract

This article aims to review the potential of a Blended learning model implementation in Indonesian higher education institutions during the time of Covid-19. This conceptual paper attempts to explain the concept of Blended learning in terms of theory and practice, based on the literature discussed in several reputable international journals. Blended learning is defined as a learning model integrating face-to-face instruction with an online learning environment or e-learning. Initially, this model proposes to improve the deficiencies of a traditional learning model which is lack of technological resources, and at the same time to develop the gap of e-learning practice which is lack of a face-to-face learning experience. In the blended instruction, students will learn through face-to-face interaction in the classroom and supported by digital media such as a Website, Video, or Learning Management System (LMS). Meanwhile, the use of technologies is ordinarily applied for students' learning and peer-interaction outside of the class, especially for online discussion and homework submission. This method emphasizes that learning activity should not only occur in the classroom but also outside of the class through the digital device.

Abstract

This study aims to picture intergroup relationships between Muslim Acehnese and non-Muslim Chinese communities in the Peunayong-regulated province Aceh, Indonesia. A descriptive phenomenological case study methodology was employed to examine the lived experiences of a particular group of people, and at the same time to explore a particular place in Aceh called Peunayong or Chinatown, and the life of its communities. The qualitative research approach was employed in collecting the data through observations, personal interviews, and documents analysis. Phenomenological interviews were conducted from one Muslim Acehnese and one non-Muslim Chinese who have been living for a long period in Peunayong district. Three main themes were merged and discussed in the findings, namely: (a) Peunayong as the symbol of tolerance; (b) non-Muslim and the Sharia law; and (c) discrimination in the Sharia law. In general, despite the implementation of Sharia law, Aceh has been seen as tolerant since Islamic law is limited only to the Muslim population. The portrait of harmony, tolerance, and peace in social-civic between Muslim Acehnese and Non-Muslim Chinese can be witnessed around Peunayong district, either activity related to trading or business, mores, and culture. Meanwhile, this study suggests that the implementation of Sharia law in Aceh should not only to achieve the popular name of “The Veranda of Mecca” or as a symbol and a name, or for political purposes, but its implementation should provide a welfare impact to local communities including Muslim and non-Muslim alliances, also to support religious freedom and solidarity between religious communities.

Abstract

Strategi pembelajaran digital dengan flipped learning (kelas terbalik) dan gamifikasi telah banyak dipraktikkan di berbagai institusi pendidikan di berbagai negara untuk menciptakan kegiatan belajar-mengajar yang inovatif dan interaktif, serta untuk membangun motivasi belajar mahasiswa. Meskipun demikian, studi tentang kombinasi model pembelajaran flipped learning dan gamifikasi masih sangat jarang dipraktikkan di Indonesia terutama pada perguruan tinggi. Oleh karenanya, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model pembelajaran terbaru yaitu kombinasi flipped learning dan gamifikasi pada satu mata kuliah, yaitu Pengantar Ilmu Administrasi. Metode Design-Based Research (Desain Berbasis Penelitian) digunakan dalam studi ini dengan tujuan menghasilkan sebuah produk penelitian berupa model dan strategi pembelajaran dengan metode flipped learning berbasis gamifikasi. Pada tahapan implementasi dan evaluasi, pemberian angket dan pelaksanaan wawancara dilakukan kepada mahasiswa untuk mendapatkan masukan dari mahasiswa terhadap kekurangan-kekurangan dan masalah yang dihadapi. Hasil dari studi ini menunjukkan bahwa perancangan strategi pembelajaran berbasis flipped learning dan gamifikasi telah sukses dilaksanakan mulai dari tahapan rancangan sampai pada implementasi dan evaluasi. Hasil studi ini juga menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan video pembelajaran dan sistem gamifikasi kahoot membawa dampak positif bagi mahasiswa dalam kelas online, terutama di masa pandemi Covid-19. Kelas menjadi lebih aktif, menyenangkan, tidak membosankan dan inovatif.
