Abstract

Astudy had been carried at the Village of Oenesu, the SubDistrict of West Kupang, the District of Kupang, since August until November 2020. The main objective of this study was to understand the roles of field agricultural workers in developing the vegetable farming operated by farmers grouping in the Nascent Farmer Group located at the Village of Oenesu, the Sub District of West Kupang, the District of Kupang. The study was applied a survey method. Research location was determine purposively based on a consideration that in this location was never conducting a study like this. Population of this study were farmers, both managers and members, operating the vegetable farming in the Nascent Famer Group. Totally they were 25 persons in number, consisted of managers were 3 persons, and members were 22 persons. Because the number of population were too small, then they were all been as the sample of study. So the size of sample used in this study was 25 farmers determined sensusly. Moreover, the primary data collected by face to face interview with respondent, for quantitative data were analyzed by the use of mean score, frequencies, and percentage, meanwhile for the qualitative data were described appropriate with their points. Result of data analysis indicated that the role of field agricultural extension worker in developing the vegetable farming was in “good enough category”,where the percentage value of mean score in achieving the maksimums core was 58%.

Abstract

This research has been conducted at one livestock farmer groups in Oeletsala Village, Taebenu Sub District, Kupang Regency from June till July 2020. The aims of this research were to know; (1) the characteristics of the Beef Cattle farmers group at Nijbaki Oeletsala village; (2) the dynamism of farmer group in the village; (3) the obstacles’ faced by the members of the members of group in terms of their cattle development effort. The method used in this research was census method due to the number of population that was group member who were only consists of 25 people so all of them were taken as respondents. The determination of research location was taken purposively (purposive sampling). The result of research showed that; (1) the characteristics of the Beef Cattle farmers group at Nijbaki Oeletsala village, the age from each group member ranged from 40- 55 years. The last formal education that was were dominantly received by farmer was Senior High School stage. And the range of work experience by each member of farmer group was about 20 years old; (2) the dynamism rate of Nijbaki livestock farmer on Oetsala Village, is in the dynamic category with the rate score achievement of 3,98 with maximum percentage of 79,67%; (3)The obstacles’ faced by cattle farmer as group member was dealt with, the irrelevancies of group purpose that was formulated that the purpose made showing the lack of benefit that feet by all goup members, the obstacles from the group solidarity were, lack of meeting frequency time among all members of group, the next obstacles was dealt with the task group function that was the lack of selft awareness of each group members in finishing the determine task, and the last was the obstacle dealt with the group effectiveness in which the program on the work plan was not executed according to work the will of group member because the tasks given haven’t been done perfectly.

Abstract

Research on farmers' perceptions of local wisdom on corn farming activities has been carried out at Sonraen Village, South Amarasi District, Kupang Regency on August to September 2019 with the aim of: (1) to find out what Local Wisdom still survives on corn farming activities in the research area; (2) To find out what values ​​are contained in Local Wisdom on corn farming activities. (3) to analyze the extent of the perception of the farming community on local wisdom on corn farming activities. The method used in this research is in-depth interview method. Determining the location of research carried out deliberately. The analysis shows that; (1) Local wisdom that still survives are tradition of. Tof Rene tradition Tsifo Nopo tradition Tsimo Tsuan tradition Toit Uran tradition Eka Hoe tradition Tkau Uran tradition Tatam Pena Tauf and tradition Tanon tradition Seki Pena tradition Tnau Baraif and tradition Save So’e; (2) The Most Prominent Values Found in Each Tradition Include : Spiritual Values, Pandeistic Values, Togetherness Values and Religious Values. (3) the level of perception of the farming community towards local wisdom on corn farming activities at the village of Sonraen. South Amarasi Sub-District. Kupang Regency is on the Good category, with the presentation achieving the score at 77.33%.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Kolobolon Village, Lobalain District, Rote Ndao District. The purpose of this study was to find out the general description of red meat dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) cultivation techniques and to find out the factors that determine the production of red meat dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus). The variables used in this study were land area, organic fertilizers, pesticides, labor and number of plants. Using primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques with interviews and documentation methods. Data processing was carried out using the SPSS version 26 program using the Cobb-Douglas production function.The results showed that all stages of agricultural activity started from seeding, tillage, support poles, planting, fertilizing, pruning, watering, pest control, harvesting, and post-harvesting. Based on the analysis using the Cobb-Douglas production function, the following results are obtained: : Y = 7.683 X1–0,060 X20,304 X3– 0,011X40,355X50,208. The results of the simultaneous F test showed that the independent variable had an effect on the yield of red flesh dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) of 24.261. Partial test (t) shows that organic fertilizer, labor and the number of plants significantly affect the yield of dragon fruit with red meat (Hylocereus polyrhizus). Meanwhile, area and pesticide variables had no significant effect on the yield of red meat dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus). The Adjusted R2 value is 0.847. showed that 84.70% of red meat dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) production could be explained by area variables, organic fertilizers, pesticides, labor and number of plants. While the remaining 15.30%, this ratio is explained by other factors that are not included in the regression model.
