Abstract

Abstract: The background of this research was the problem at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan about advertisement writing skill. The problems were less precise to make title creation, to made advertisement text,  to made picture visualization, and giving slogan. To solve this problem, it needed learning module which was developed based contextual approach. The type of this research was development by applying 4D (define, design, develop, and disseminate) Instrument of this research used the module validity questionnaire, the module practicality questionnaire for teacher and students, and test sheet for task. Module had been tested to the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan which had been previously validated. The data analyzing technique used descriptive statistics to get percentage practicality and effectiveness of learning module.The result of this research was a module development based contextual in advertisement writing subject where: (1) designed module was valid, it was categorized “very valid” which include valid in terms of content, language, presentation and graphics (2) designed module was practically to be used which include practically in terms of easy and time (3) designed module was effective in increasing students’ activity and students’ motivation in advertisement writing subject, it could be seen from students’ activity and students’ achievement by using test performance. Abstract

abstrak Reading is a process undertaken to obtain a message so that the message obtained can be received well, it is better to do the reading activity in the heart which is also called reading comprehension. Write a review is an activity to write book reviews or book scales. In order to write a book review done well then we first read the book to be diresensi it. To read the book is better implemented by reading comprehension activities. The purpose of this study is to describe the relationship of reading comprehension skills by writing a student review of grade XI SMA Negeri I Sosopan. The respondents of this research are students of class XI SMA Negeri I Sosopan which amounted to 30 people. The type of this research is descriptive by using quantitative approach. The data obtained from the analysis of test scores obtained by respondents who answered questions in the form of objective and subjective. The objective test consists of 50 questions. The subjective test data were obtained from the student data which made reviews of the two short stories that were shared. The collected data were analyzed by the following steps: 1) grouping the students' scores per aspect and generally using the percentage formula, 2) grouping the student scores into a scale of 10, 3) finding the average test score of the students, 4) testing death correlation used the test formula "t". With the use of product formula the moment of ability to read comprehension by writing a student review class XI SMA Negeri I Sosopan is 0.320. So the relationship of reading comprehension skills by writing reviews is low. This shows no significant correlation between the two variables because in the product table the moment of significant significance 0.05 is 0.361. The use of the "t" test formula for hypothesis testing yields a magnitude of 1.79, whereas the "t" table is 1.70. Thus it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the ability to read comprehension by writing reviews of students of Class XI SMA Negeri I Sosopan.

Abstract

The problem studied was the ability to write descriptions with the field trip method class X SMA N 1 Sosopan in terms of aspects (1) content, (2) organization, (3) vocabulary, (4) use of language, and (5) mechanics. The theoretical study used in this study refers to Agus Trianto's opinion. This type of research is quantitative by using descriptive methods. Data obtained by providing test writing essay description with a predetermined topic. The population of this study was all students of class X SMA N 1 Sosopan, totaling 135 students. The research sample of 20% of 135 students is 27 students. Based on the results of research and analysis of data on the essay description written by class X students of SMA N 1 Sosopan, it can be concluded as follows: (1) the ability to write a description of the field trip method from the aspect of content is classified as very good, ie 90 with a scale of 86-95%. (2) the ability to write a description of the field trip method from the Organizational aspect is sufficient, that is 58 on a scale of 56-65%. (3) the ability to write a description on the Aspect of using vocabulary is included in the sufficient category that is 58 on a scale of 56-65%. (4) The ability to write a description on aspects of using language is sufficient, that is 57 on a scale of 56-65%. (5) the ability to write descriptions on the mechanical aspects is very poor, 15 on a scale of 0-15%. The conclusion of the research shows that the ability to write a description essay using field trip method class X students of SMA N 1 Sosopan in Academic Year 2018/2019 is classified as good, that is 78.44 on the scale of 76-85. For further improvement it is suggested as follows: (1) Teachers should always try to encourage students to practice writing more and give more time to learning to write, because writing is a skill that is not easy, (2) students should read lots of various both fiction and non-fiction books, especially those related to writing descriptions, and students should be active and learn to explore written ideas through the field trip method.
