Abstract

This research aimed to determine the response or complaints of domestic tourists about the tourism in Sabang and Banda Aceh. The types of data used were primary and secondary data. The primary data was obtained using Non Probability Sampling method. In-depth interview was conducted with 50 domestic tourists in Sabang and 60 domestic tourists in Banda Aceh. The secondary data was obtained from Statistics Indonesia, Sabang and Banda Aceh Tourism Offices, as well as from relevant literature review. The research revealed that the domestic tourists in Sabang and Banda Aceh had similar responses regarding waste management, environmental hygiene, and adequate lavatories with clean water supply. Another complaint from the domestic tourists in Sabang was regarding transportation such as the ferryboat management and the local ground transportation, availability of restaurants and eateries with wide-ranging types of food, as well as the availability of mushollas or praying spaces. One way to encourage domestic tourists to visit Sabang and Banda Aceh is to address their complaints about waste management and environmental hygiene, availability of restaurants or eateries with a diverse menu, and availability of praying spaces.

Abstract

Abstract - This study aims at investigating the extent of cumulative causation effect on economic growth disparity across the regions: Basajan-Pijay, Northeast, South-West, and Central-Inland in the Aceh Province, Indonesia. It also includes some others factors in determining economic growth disparity such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita, the concentration of economic activity areas, Human Development Index (HDI), the labour productivity of the region, the allocation of public investment as well as the accessibility among regions in the Aceh Province. To capture the goals of this study, it uses panel data during the period 2000 to 2010 consisting of 23 districts/cities of Aceh Province. The results show that the potential conditions for convergence because the dominant factor affecting the disparity without entering variable cumulative effect, the concentration of economic activity among regions have positive and negatively affected HDI. By entering variable cumulative effects, it turns HDI to have a negative effect, while the cumulative effect of the growth of inter-regional and the GDP per capita were positive. Thus, it can be said that the economic disparity among regions has the potential for convergence if and only if there is a policy intervention by the government in improving the quality of education, health, and consumer purchasing power to reduce the disparity. It is recommended that the Government of Aceh and District/City Government should encourage the growth of GDP per year, equal to or above the average growth of the national economy in order to increase labour productivity so that economic prosperity has also increased (spread effect is greater than backwash effect) because workings of the cumulative effect of growth within the region and among regions. Keywords      :   Disparity, Backwash effect, Spread Effect, Economic Growth, AcehPaper Type :     Research Paper

Abstract

The study aims to identify export base sectors and to analyse its impact to the economic growth based on the Cobb Douglas production function. Some relevant theories to support our arguments among others are base sector, export base and economic growth theory. Data of central government capital spending (CGB), local government capital spending (LGB), export average price (Pavg), provincial minimum wage (W) and linear multiple regression model is employed. The results show that the agriculture is the only basis sector in Aceh. The role of local government capital spending in the export based commodity supply  contradicts the theory, provided indication that the local government capital spending has not been able to pull the economic growth. The role of central government capital spending, export average price and minimum wage have been in accordance with the available theoretical background. All independent variables are found to be statistically significant both partially and simultaneously, indicating that those variables are economically important to develop export base sectors in Aceh, however the impact on economic growth is relatively small. Keywords: export base sector, supply for export, economic growth, Aceh

Abstract

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine the effect of motor vehicle tax and the tariff of transfer motor vehicle name to thelocally-generated revenue, the contribution of the locally-generated revenue to the total revenue of districts in Aceh province. The data used in this research is time series during the period 2007-2013. The data analysis method used in this research is multiple linear regression with ordinary least square (OLS). The results showed that motor vehicle tax and the tariff of transfer motor vehicle name significantly had a positive effect on the locally-generated revenue of districts in Aceh province. The contribution of the locally-generated revenue to total regional revenue is relatively low, the contribution of motor vehicle tax to the locally-generated revenue is higher than the contribution of the tariff of transfer motor vehicle name to the locally-generated revenue, therefore the Aceh government should be able to improve its own regional revenue by digging up new sources of the revenue besides of motor vehicle tax and the tariff of transfer motor vehicle name. In addition and a must that is the increase of locally-generated revenue also needs to be done by improving coordination among fellow related agencies in increasing motor vehicle tax the tariff of transfer motor vehicle name.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine the factors that influence the number of domestic and foreign tourist visits and to measure the value of willingness to pay for the benefits of tourism objects in Banda Aceh by using the Travel Cost Method Approach. The type of data used is primary and secondary data. Primary data obtained by non-probability sampling, obtained as many as 30 domestic tourists and foreign tourists as many as 30 people, with the method of analysis of ordinary least square (OLS). Secondary data was obtained from the Central Statistics Agency, Tourism Office and other study literature. The results showed that for domestic tourists, the independent variables on travel costs, alternative costs, time costs, and income had significant effect on the number of domestic tourist visits with an R² value of 0.690. In foreign tourists, the independent variables of travel costs, alternative costs, and income have a significant effect on the number of visits, while the cost of time has no effect on the value of R² 0.693. The average value of WTP of foreign tourists is greater than that of domestic tourists, namely domestic tourists with a WTP of 4,000,000 rupiahs while foreign tourists are 217,000,000 rupiah. Given the large contribution of tourism to the economic conditions in Indonesia, especially in Aceh, the government should maintain and pay attention to the conditions of tourism objects and improve tourism facilities so that tourists reach the maximum level of utility so that it will increase the value of PAPs.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of economic growth and government expenditure of Aceh on revenue (PAD) province of Aceh after the tsunami. The data used in this research are secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Aceh Province. The method used to analyze data is the method of least squares (OLS) with linear regression models. Variable PAD research is the province of Aceh (Y) as the dependent variable and economic growth (X1), and government expenditures of Aceh (X2) as independent variables. Based on the survey results revealed that the variables X1 and X2 positive and significant impact on Y at the level of α = 0.10 and α = 0.01. While it simultaneously independent variables have a significant effect on the level of α = 0.01. Variation in the dependent variable explained by the independent variable capable of amounting to 82.90 percent. The estimation results of the model indicate that if all the variables are zero then the PAD province of Aceh after the tsunami (Y) amounted to 1,442 billion rupiah; if economic growth (X1) grew by 1 percent would increase by 0,016 percent y; if expenditure on governent of Aceh (X2) increase by 0,388 percent Y. Goverment of Aceh needs to increase the rate of economic growth in the province of Aceh by giving special attention to the leading sectors and potential to be developed in the province of Aceh is expected to increase the amount of revenue the Province of Aceh.
