Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan untuk: (1) membekali pengetahuan dan pemahaman Guru Bahasa Indonesia tentang menulis artikel jurnal ilmiah dan (2) membekali Guru Bahasa Indonesia agar terampil membuat artikel jurnal ilmiah yang sesuai dan dapat mempublikasi dalam dalam jurnal ilmiah ber-ISSN. Metode yang digunakan adalah sosialisasi dan pendampingan dalam menyusun artikel jurnal ilmiah. Materi yang disampaikan dalam sosialisasi adalah cara menulis artikel jurnal, yaitu hakikat, ragam artikel, sistematika artikel ilmiah, langkah-langkah menulis artikel, dan mempersiapkan artikel ilmiah yang siap dipublikasikan di artikel jurnal ilmiah nasional terakreditasi. Rancangan evaluasi untuk mengukur keberhasilan pelatihan adalah tes tertulis yang mencakup pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang menulis artikel ilmiah meliputi hakikat artikel ilmiah, ragam artikel ilmiah, sistematika menulis artikel ilmiah, dan komponen artikel jurnal ilmiah. Kegiatan ini dilakukan mulai Mei sampai dengan November 2019 di Kabupaten Musi Rawas, Sumatera Selatan. Khalayak sasaran yang dilibatkan adalah guru-guru Bahasa Indonesia di Kabupaten Musi Rawas, Sumatera Selatan. Hasil capaian pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan artikel jurnal ilmiah sangat bermanfaat bagi Guru Bahasa Indonesia Kabupaten Musi Rawas, mereka telah mengetahui dan memahami cara menulis artikel jurnal, dan mereka telah mampu menulis artikel jurnal ilmiah dengan baik. Kegiatan pegabdian perlu dilanjutkan dengan pendampingan yang lebih intensif agar mereka lebih mampu menulis arikel jurnal dan dapat dipuplikasikan pada jurnal ber-ISSN dan bahkan dapat dimuat di jurnal nasional terakreditasi.

Abstract

The development of advertising is currently growing rapidly in line with technological developments that are increasingly unstoppable. Indeed, advertising is a medium used by a company or business entity to promote goods or services that have a persuasive language and have an ideology of capitalism. However, currently there are several advertisements that do not use persuading language, but want to incorporate elements of capitalism, such as the Djarum 76 ad that will be discussed in this study. This research will describe the ideology of capitalism in the Djarum 76 cigarette advertisement edition of Wani Piro. The research method used is the Norman Fairclough model of critical discourse analysis. The object or data in this study is the oral discourse contained in the Djarum 76 cigarette advertisement edition of Wani Piro. The technique in collecting data is done by documentation technique sourced from YouTube. In the data analysis activities in accordance with the Norman Fairclough model there are three steps of analysis namely, analysis at the level of the text, discourse practices, and socio-cultural practices. Data validity is done by member checking and expert discourse test. The results of this study indicate that the words used are more unique and funny words, and the Djarum 76 advertisement is packaged with a form of critical discourse as if concerned with the social conditions of the community. However, behind the critical discourse that is used, veiled an ideology that is capitalism in accordance with the purpose of an advertisement that is looking for profit from the product being promoted.

Abstract

Students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program at the University of Bengkulu have difficulty writing a thesis research proposal. This is proven by not many students who passed on time in semester VIII. The purpose of this research is to identify and describe: (1) the ability of students in writing thesis research proposals and (2) the difficulties faced by students in writing thesis research proposals. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The population of this study was all students of semester VII of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program in the 2017/2018 academic year. The sample of this research is 80 students who write thesis research proposals. The data collection techniques were documentation and interview techniques. Data analysis to analyze quantitative data used the percentage formula, while for qualitative data it was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman analysis model with the steps of data reduction analysis, data display, verification, and conclusions. The results showed that the ability to write thesis research proposals for seventh semester students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program for the academic year 2017/2018 was classified as sufficient qualification. Then, students experience difficulties in compiling proposals in writing problems and problem formulations, writing theoretical foundations and literature reviews, determining research methods, data collection techniques and arranging instruments as well as testing, assessment rubrics, and research data analysis. The seventh semester students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program at the University of Bengkulu should be assisted so that they really understand how to compile a thesis research proposal so that they can write a research proposal well and in the end students will be able to complete their thesis quickly and on time.

Abstract

One way to improve students ability to write personal letters is to apply the think talk write cooperative learning model. The purpose of this study was to describe the learning process by applying the think talk write cooperative leraning model and to describe the learning outcomes using the think talk write cooperative learning model. The research method used is descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques using observation and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique in this study uses three steps in analyzing the data, namely reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions or verification. Test the validity of the data using an inter rater and member check. The result showed that the steps of learning to write personal letters using the think talk write cooperative learning model, namely, think is done by giving reading matrial and asking students to write things that are considered important, talk is done by the teacher guiding students to conduct discussions about the results of student notes, and write is done by asking students to construct the results that have been obtained from the stages of think and talk. Then, the results of students ability to write personal letters by applying the think talk write cooperative learning model obtained and average value of 75,18 which was included in the sufficient category.

Abstract

The aims of this study were (1) to describe the results of the analysis of the needs of teachers and students for the development of teaching materials for writing poetry in elementary schools, (2) to describe the results of the prototypes for developing teaching materials for writing poetry for students in elementary schools, and (3) to describe the feasibility teaching materials for writing poetry as a result of development for elementary school students. The type of research used is Research and Development (R & D) with the Jolly and Bolitho models. Data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires and interviews. The data analysis technique is a descriptive analysis technique. The results of the study show that students in elementary schools need poetry writing textbooks related to the content and physical aspects of textbooks. Meanwhile, the teacher was also given a questionnaire to assess teaching materials for writing poetry. Furthermore, the results of expert validation were obtained, namely the appropriateness of the content obtained a score of 21, language obtained a score of 20, presentation obtained a score of 18, and graphics obtained a score of 19. The total score obtained was 78. Based on the results of data analysis, 12 students wanted textbooks that can increase knowledge, 19 students expect teaching materials in the form of textbooks, and 20 students want complete teaching materials. Thus it can be concluded that the prototype of this teaching material is feasible to be used as a poetry writing textbook for students in elementary schools.

Abstract

Audiovisual media has the advantage of being able to attract students' attention and motivation because it combines sound and images. By providing audiovisual media, it is predicted to be able to influence students' ability to write persuasive texts. For this reason, this study aims to determine the effect of audiovisual media on the ability to write persuasive texts for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 7 Bengkulu City. This study uses a quantitative approach and quasi-experimental methods by comparing pre-test and post-test scores after using audio-visual media in learning to write persuasive texts. The population of this study were all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 7 Bengkulu City with a sample using a purposive sampling technique, namely on the basis of the objective of a quasi-experimental design for one class that was homogeneous so that 30 students from class VIII-A were taken. Data collection techniques using essay test techniques. The data analysis technique uses hypothesis testing with the paired t-test formula. Prerequisite test is done normality test using the chi-square formula. The results of the study show that there is an influence of audiovisual media on the ability to write persuasive texts. This is evidenced by the tcount > ttable test, namely 7,570 > 2,045. If seen from the sign (2-tailed) that is 0.000 <0.05 then Ho is also rejected and Ha is accepted.

Abstract

The skill of writing explanatory text is part of the Indonesian language skills that must be mastered by students of class XI SMA. An overview of the implementation of learning to write explanatory texts in high school forms the basis for the reflections of Indonesian language teachers. For this reason, this study aims to describe the implementation of teaching explanatory text writing skills in class XI SMA Negeri 2 Rejang Lebong. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques are carried out by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. Test the validity of the data using data source triangulation. The results of the study showed that the implementation of Indonesian language learning on writing material for students of class XI IPS had been carried out in three stages: first, preliminary activities, the teacher greeted, greeted students, prepared students physically and psychologically, conducted apperception by way of question and answer and convey learning objectives. Second, the core learning activities, the teacher invites students to understand the meaning and characteristics of explanatory texts, identify knowledge information and explanatory text explanatory lines, analyze structure and language, and produce explanatory texts. Third, closing activities, the teacher concludes the learning material by involving students so that the teacher knows student understanding during the learning process. The learning steps carried out by the teacher are guided by the Learning Implementation Plan. Implementation of learning is planned to use discovery learning and project based learning models, but in the learning process, the implementation of these learning models is not maximized. The teacher's assessment was only a psychomotor assessment, while attitude and cognitive assessments were not carried out.

Abstract

The pedagogical competence of Indonesian language teachers will influence student learning outcomes and whether or not learning objectives are achieved. One of the pedagogic competencies that must be mastered by Indonesian language teachers is the skill of opening and closing lessons. For this reason, the purpose of this study was to describe the mastery of Indonesian language teacher pedagogic competencies in applying the skills of opening and closing learning on the material for writing debate texts in class X SMA Negeri 6 Bengkulu City. The research method used is the qualitative content analysis method of the Mayring model. Data collection techniques use documentation techniques with the help of camcorders. The research data analyzed is speech in the process of learning to write debate texts. The data analysis step uses Mayring's model content analysis combined with the interpretation of the meaning of the Dell Hymes SPEAKING model. The results of the study showed that the Indonesian teacher's opening skills for learning started with greetings, praying, and checking physical attendance, while the skills for closing learning started with learning evaluation and greeting. From the results of this study it can be recommended to Indonesian teachers that in opening learning it must consist of the skills of saying greetings, praying, checking students' physical and psychological presence, giving apperception, conveying basic competencies and learning objectives to be achieved, while closing skills must consist of for the skills of providing conclusions in learning, providing evaluations in learning, providing motivation to students, providing follow-up, praying, and finally greeting and saying thank you.
