Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a disease that is a problem in Indonesia, especially East Java. Sidoarjo is one of the city with high DHF cases in East Java with a total cases until 1,708 in 2016. One of the factors that support the increase in DHF cases is the availability of breeding site of Aedes. Research about breeding sites of Aedes in plants is limited. Vector control is often carried out only to ponds, air containers, and other artificial breeding sites, while in nature there are many plants that can to used breeding site such as phytotelmata. Phytotelmata are plants that can hold water in one of their bodies. This study aimed to determine the diversity of types and types of phytothelium, the physical condition of the water collected in the phytothelium and the Aedes species found in the phytotelmata. This research used descriptive observational. Determination of the sampling point using purposive sampling method. The results showed that there were eight species of phytotelmata which were used as breeding site for Aedes spp. in Sidoarjo, namely Musa paradisiaca, Pandanus amaryllifolius, Cocos nucifera, Neoregelia spectabilis, Bambusa sp. Neoregelia charm, Aechmea fasciata, and Xanthosoma sagittifolium. The Aedes species found were mostly Ae. albopictus. The average of air volume of the phytotelmata is 95.84 ml with water temperatures is 25-26oC and water pH is 6-7.

Abstract

The problem faced by farmers in Bulumargi village, Babat district, Lamongan Regency is pest attack. Pest attack control carried out by farmers using synthetic pesticides. The use synthetic pesticides if carried out continuously gives impacts such as pest resistance, pest resurgence, death of onotarger animalincluding natural enemies, emergence of secondary pest explosions, pesticide residues in plant and environment. Synthetic pesticide residues found in agricultural products very dangerous if consumed for a long period of time, so a solution is needed that can reduce farmers' losses due to pests on crops. The purpose of this research is to eradicate pests using refugia plants. The research method used was socialization with several stages, counseling, discussions and aplications in rice fields. The result of this research is that the community has increased their knowledge and skills in the use of refugia plants. The conclusion of this research is the increasing public knowledge in utilizing refugia plants to reduce the use of synthetic pesticides and increase rice production in the long term.

Abstract

Jabung is one of the villages in the Laren district. The village has become a partner in community service (PkM) implementation because one of the home businesses developed in this village. That condition became one of the causes implemented that study in the place. The introduction of virgin oil (VCO) to partners aimed at developing home businesses and educating about VCO's advantage. The introduction of VCO products is a development of appropriate technology that can be applied to local communities. This activity can increase partner knowledge to make VCO with easy technique. One of the most significant advantages is health. This PkM introduced fermentation and enzymatic combination method for changing coconut milk to VCO products. The method developed in this PkM is giving materials, discussions, and pre and post-test. The pre and post-test results can provide understanding for that study. The study showed that 70% of this study is necessary, 55% that was ever listening about VCO, 70% had not utilized VCO, 80% were never known to make VCO, and 100% were interested. For post-test, 70% showed that the study was essential, 89,5% very needed for practice next time, 100% understood making VCO with combination method, 94,8% understood making VCO process, and 94,8% were planning for making and utilizing VCO.  ---  Jabung merupakan salah satu Desa yang berada di Kecamatan Laren. Desa tersebut menjadi mitra dalam pelaksanaan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) karena salah satu usaha yang dikembangkan di Desa tersebut adalah usaha rumahan. Kondisi tersebut menjadi salah satu alasan dilaksanakan kegiatan di tempat tersebut. Pengenalan minyak murni (VCO) kepada mitra bertujuan untuk mengembangkan usaha rumahan dan memberikan penjelasan tentang  manfaat VCO. Pengenalan produk VCO menjadi salah satu pengembangan teknologi tepat guna yang dapat diaplikasikan kepada masyarakat sekitar. Melalui kegiatan ini dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan mitra untuk memahami pembuatan VCO melalui teknik yang mudah dipahami. Salah satu manfaat yang penting dari pemanfaatan VCO adalah kegunaannya bagi kesehatan. Tujuan dilaksanakannya kegiatan ini adalah untuk memperkenalkan metode kombinasi pembuatan VCO dalam menghasilkan rendemen yang tinggi melalui fermentasi dan enzimatis. Mitra diperkenalkan dan dijelaskan metode kombinasi agar menjadi keahlian bagi masyarakat sekitar. Metode kombinasi ini melalui teknik fermentasi dan enzimatis untuk mengubah santan kelapa menjadi produk VCO. Metode yang dikembangkan dalam kegiatan PkM ini adalah penyampaian materi, diskusi, dan pemberian pre dan post test. Hasil pre dan post test dapat memberikan pemahaman terhadap kegiatan yang berlangsung. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 70% kegiatan ini sangat perlu dilakukan, 55% menyatakan bahwa sudah pernah mendengar mengenai VCO, 70% belum memanfaatkan VCO, 80% belum pernah mengetahui cara pembuatan VCO, dan 100% menyatakan tertarik. Untuk post-test dihasilkan 70% menyatakan kegiatan yang dilakukan sangat bermanfaat, 89,5% sangat perlu untuk dilakukan praktik selanjutnya, 100% memahami pembuatan VCO dengan teknik kombinasi, 94,8% sangat memahami proses pembuatan VCO, dan 94,8% berencana untuk membuat dan memanfaatkan VCO.

Abstract

Phytotelmata are plants that hold water in one or more parts of their body of plant. The water that is collected in the body parts of the phytotelmata is used as a breeding habitat for Aedes spp. This study aimed to determine the diversity of phytotelamata species in Kediri, which is one of the cities with the highest DHF cases in January 2019 in East Java. This research was descriptive observational. The sampling point was determined using purposive sampling method. The results showed that there were nine species of phytotelmata which were used as breeding sites for Aedes spp. in Kediri, namely Musa paradisiaca, Colocasia esculanta, Neoregelia spectabilis, Bambusa sp., Neoregelia charm, Aechmea fasciata, Xanthosoma sagittifolium, dan Bromelia sp. Species of Aedes founded were mostly Ae. albopictus. The average volume of water contained in one part of the phytotelmata is 90.11 ml with a water temperature ranging from 25-26oC and pH of water is 6-7.

Abstract

The Lecanicillium lecanii is an entomopathogenic biological agent that can be used to control plant pest organisms. This study aimed to determine the use of liquid media derived from boiled potato water as a propagation material for the Lecanicillium lecani. The propagation of the fungus starts from propagation on PDA (Potato Dextrose Agar) sloping agar media, propagation or inoculation of the fungus on solid media (rice), then propagation of the fungus on liquid media (potato boiled water). The results of this activity showed that liquid media (potato boiled water) can be used as a medium for propagation of the Lecanicillium lecanii because potatoes have a starch content with good nutrients and carbohydrates to be used as growth media for entomopathogenic for example is Lecanicillium lecanii.

Abstract

This study aimed to determining how the production process of Azotobacter sp. using liquid media as the biological agent of Azotobacter sp. Azotobacter sp. is a nitrogen fixing bacteria as fertilizer of soil. Azotobacter sp. including natural biological agents that are environmentally. The process production of the biological agent was used liquid media from soybean which carried out in the coordinator office of PTPH bojonegoro. The result showed that propagation of Azotobacter sp. can be done with the stages of making bacterial isolation on Natrium Agar (NA) and making liquid media with soybean (based ingredients). The calculation method using the TPC method is done by counting the number of bacterial colonies that appear on the petridish. From the results of the calculation of the TPC the average number is 3,8 x 108, showed that is feasible to be used as an effective growth regulator fertilizer.

Abstract

The used of refugia plants can be a solution in pest control by providing microhabitats for natural enemies. There are predators and parasitoids as alternative hosts. This study aimed to determine the diversity of insect pests in rice plantations using refugia and without refugia plants in Besur Village, Lamongan. This study used the rice variety Mentik Wangi Susu. The sampling method used 3 kinds of traps: sweep net, pit fall trap, and yellow sticky trap. The results showed that the insect pests found were 5 orders, 11 families, and 14 species with a total of 1272 individuals on refugia land and 1534 individuals on land without refugia. The Shanon-Weiner diversity index (H?) of insect pests on refugia land is H? = 1.93 and on land without refugia H? = 1.86 which is in the medium criteria. Abstract

Abstract Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a disease that is a problem in society. Lamongan Regency has been declared a DHF KLB (Extraordinary Event) with a number of 86 cases in 2015. The village with the highest incidence of DHF in Lamongan Regency is Payaman Village. This study aims to analyze the physical and chemical factors of the water used as a breeding ground for Aedes spp. This research is a descriptive study with a cross sectional approach. Sampling was carried out in 50 houses located in Payaman Village, Solokuro, Lamongan district. The research parameters there are volume of water, temperature, pH, value of water turbidity (NTU), and DO value. The results showed that each type of container has different physical and chemical properties of water. The highest volume of water is in the bathtub type with an average water volume of 152,500 ml. While the least was in the axillary types of Musa paradisiaca (185 ml) and Colocasia esculenta (177 ml). The average water temperature at the breeding site ranges from 25-30oC. The acidity of the water ranges from 6-7. The value of DO levels ranged from 5-8.5 ppm. The value of water turbidity ranges from 4.50-25 NTU with an average of 15.31 NTU. Abstract

Spodoptera litura F. is a plant pest organism (OPT) on shallot plants that must be prevented so that shallots become productive. One way to prevent it is good and not to damage the environment is the use of tumangsari plants in the form of celery plants. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of celery (Apium Graveolens L.) as a pest population of Spodoptera Litura F. Repellent Plants in the Cultivation of Shallots (Allium Ascalonicum L.) in Pesanggrahan Village. This research is an experimental study using a randomized block design (RAK) pattern, one way ANOVA test data analysis technique with 5% significance and post hoc follow-up test with the smallest difference analysis. The results showed that celery plants were effective in suppressing Spodoptera litura F. pest attacks. The most effective treatment was 4 PTS treatment which could reduce Spodoptera litura F. population and zinc intensity of Spodoptera litura F., which were 1.66 and 0, respectively. 15%.
