Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of human capital on the level of economic productivity of regencies/cities in West Kalimantan Province. The data used in this study are panel data from 14 West Kalimantan Province/City Districts during the period 2012-2017 whose research results were analyzed using the Random Effect approach panel data regression analysis. The results of the study explained that the role of hum an capital as measured by the level of education, namely the average length of school (RLS), High School Participation Rate, and health level namely life expectancy (AHH) had a non-significant effect on economic productivity. Whereas physical capital investment (PMTB) has a significant influence on the level of economic productivity. The results of the analysis also show that for the human capital variable it has a smaller magnitude compared to the physical capital investment variable. Based on these results, it is concluded that the impact of human capital is very important in increasing economic productivity in the Regency/City of West Kalimantan Province.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the influence of local goverment expenditure based on economic classification consisting of personnel expenditure, capital expenditure, goods and services expenditure, grant expenditure and social assistance expenditure on economic growth and social welfare in the regency/city of West Borneo Province. The data in the study used panel data consisting of time series data (2010 -2015) and cross-section data (14 regency/city in West Borneo Province). Hypothesis testing in this study using multiple linear regression and path analysis. The results obtained personnel expenditure, capital expenditure, and social assistance expenditure have a positive and significant influence to economic growth, while grant expenditure has negative and significant influence to economic growth and Goods and services spending has a negative but insignificant influence to economic growth. Subsequently capital expenditure and economic growth have a positive and significant influence to the social welfare while the goods and services have negative and significant influence to the social welfare. Grant expenditure have negative influence and social assistance expenditure has a positive butinsignificant influence to social welfare.

Abstract

This study aims to map the creative economy culinary subsector of Pontianak City in 2017 based on Creative Economy Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC) and structure-conduct-performance (SCP) approach. This study also maps the characteristic of creative economy actor culinary subsector based on age and education, as well as observes the creativity of culinary subsector in Pontianak City. This study used qualitative descriptive method with study object in Pontianak City. The sampling method used was stratified random sample with 287 total samples. The result was the creative economy scopes in Pontianak City mostly are restaurants, stalls, and café. The economy creative actor for culinary subsector in Pontianak is 40 years old in average and 51.2% had high school as their educational background. The creativity of culinary subsector in Pontianak City were 41.1% involving the trained chef, 8,4% routinely creates new menu, 14.3% consists the local cuisine, 51,2% gives culinary experience for the consumers, and 29.3% has used technology. Based on the SCP approach (1) 95.5% culinary business model in Pontianak City are independent, (2) 79.8% (229 respondents) of the creative economy actors stated they determine the price by themselves; from 229 respondents, 120 respondents determined their own prices after finding out their rival’s prices, (3) 87.1% marketing strategy still use word of mouths marketing technique, (4) the business turnover per month ranging from IDR 400.000- > IDR 80.000.000 and manpower recruiting with micro business criteria (1-4 people) for 88.2% while small business (5-19 people) for 11,8%.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain empirical evidence on (I) causality between economic growth and human development, (2) the influence of population, investment and human development to economc growth, (3) the influence of economic growth, expenditure government spending on education and health sector as well as on the human development in regency/city of West Kalimantan province. This study is characterized by descriptive as well as quantitative research, namely research that aims to giving picture or a characteristic of a particular phenomenon by using the model of simultaneous equations method of Two Stage Least Square (TSLS) approach to fixed effect model (FEM). The secondary data as used in the research such as panel data (the data aliance of time series and cross section) from 9 regency/city of West Kalimantan province during the period 2001- 2008. The research finding indicate that (I) there are two ways causality relationship between economic growth and human development, (2) population, investment, and human development have a significant influence and positively to economic growth, (3) economic growth, expenditure government spending on education and health sector has a positive and significant influence on the human development in regency/city West Kalimantan province.
