Abstract

Bullying is aggressive behavior or action that involves an imbalance of power that is detrimental to others. Most bullying occurs at school and a lot of data can prove that schools are the biggest contributors to bullying behavior.  The output of this community services is  Being able to provide an understanding of the importance of creating conditions and a good and comfortable school atmosphere for students to avoid bullying behavior at school. This community services held  with lecture method accompanied by an explanation and interactive discussion involving all participants. The implementation of this Community Service is going well and smoothly. The success factor of this Community Service activities at MAN 10 Jakarta is the enthusiasm of participants in receiving material and communicative material delivery by the Speakers. While the obstacle in this activity is the unavailability of credible resource persons and the limited time to carry out the Activity.

Abstract

The experience of everyday intercultural communication events and encounters will always shape one's intercultural communication perspective. This perspective is also fully interwoven in our deeply held beliefs and values, which guide our thoughts and actions both within and across cultural boundaries, as well as our understandings of the other cultures we encounter. Therefore, it is a must to have intercultural communication competence in crossing these cultural differences. This study aims to develop Intercultural Communication Competence: a Case Study on Intercultural Intelligence of International students in Melaka, Malaysia. Using the concept of Intercultural Communication Competence, this study investigates studies related to the intercultural communication competence of international students in Melaka, Malaysia. The paradigm used in this study is constructivism. This study uses a qualitative method with a single case study design and data collection techniques with interviews and documentation studies. The subjects of this research are international students studying in Malaysia. Miles and Huberman’s data analysis technique was used in this study, which includes three activities, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing (verification). The findings of this study provide a description of international students' intercultural communication competence as evidenced by their attitudes, skills, knowledge, and behavior in accepting a culture other than their own. They have a strong desire to be able to adapt to a new culture, even though they are frequently hampered by language differences and stereotypes during the adaptation process.Keywords:  Intercultural, communication, competence, foreign  student

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19  memang membawa perubahan yang sangat signifikan disegala aspek kehidupan masyarakat. Tidak hanya dalam aspek ekonomi, aspek kesehatan, aspek politik, aspek sosial, hingga merubah gaya hidup masyarakat. Gaya hidup yang paling banyak berubah adalah cara berinteraksi dan mobilisasi masyarakat yang harus melakukan semua kegiatan sehari-hari di rumah. Akibatnya, terjadi kejenuhan tinggi yang menyebabkan masyarakat mulai mencari media-media hiburan alternatif untuk menghindari kejenuhan di rumah.Selain memanfaatkan media elektronik seperti televisi dan radio ataupun media  komunikasi  seperti  smartphone,  saat  ini  masyarakat  Indonesia  sedang marak menggunakan Video on Demand (VoD) sebagai media hiburan alternatif untuk  menghilangkan  kejenuhan  beraktivitas  di  rumah.  Salah  satu  VoD  yang sangat populer saat ini di Indonesia adalah Netflix.Peneliti menilai bahwa perlu adanya penelitian yang menggambarkan penggunaan Video on Demand (VoD) Neflix ini sebagai media hiburan alternatif selama pandemi 2020. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan Kualitatif. Adapun yang menjadi subjek penelitian ini adalah pengguna aktif Netflix yang menjadikan Netfliz sebagai media hiburan alternatif selama Pandemi. Hasil dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat dipublikasikan dalam jurnal nasional terakreditasi Sinta 5, yaitu Jurnal Visi Komunikasi. Sebagai penelitian dasar, maka penelitian ini dapat dikategorikan dalam tingkat kesiapterapan teknologi (TKT) level 3, yaitu sebagai pembuktian konsep fungsi dan/atau karakteristik penting secara analitis dan eksperimental.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan Preferensi khalayak pada konten media digital dibanding konten yang disajikan oleh media konvensional dikarenakan adanya  kemudahaan dan nilai efisien yang ditawarkan oleh media digital sehingga khalayak dapat menikmati konten siaran dimanapun dan kapanpun walaupun hanya dengan menggunakan smartphone, varian siaran yang terbatas dan monoton, serta kualitas isi siaran yang kurang kreatif dan tidak lagi mendidik masyarakat untuk menjadi penonton yang cerdas.
