Abstract

This quasi experimental research aimed to know the influence of problem based learning of students mathematical representation skill. The population of research was all students of grade 8thof SMP Negeri 1 Negeri Agung in academic year of 2016/2017 that was distributed into three classes. The samples of this research were students of VIII A and VIII B classes which were chosen by cluster random sampling This research used pretest-posttest control group design. The research data were obtained by test of mathematical representation skill. Analysis data of research used Mann-Whitney U test. The result of research analysis showed that the problem based learning affects the students mathematical representation skill.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran berbasis masalah terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Negeri Agung tahun ajaran 2016/2017 yang terdistribusi dalam tiga kelas. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII A dan VIII B yang dipilih dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pretest-posttest control group design. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan representasi matematis. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney U. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis masalah berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa.Kata kunci: pembelajaran berbasis masalah, pengaruh, representasi matematis
