Abstract

Students achievement is the ultimate goal is linked to the implementation of the learning process. Observations in X grade Senior High School 1 Natar, known that student activity and achievement is low. This study aimed to determine the effect of PBL models in improving student activity and achievement. The design was non-equivalent control group. The sample was class X3and X5 selected by purpossive sampling. This data is quantitative and qualitative form. Quantitative data obtained average value of the pretest, posttest and N-gain on Biodiversity material. Qualitative data obtained percentage average of students activities and responses of uses PBL models was analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the use of PBL models can improve student learning activities with an average of 66% it is also evident from the increase observed for all aspects. Students achievement in the experimental class also increase with average value of N-gain is 67,38. In addition, all students gave positive response to the use of PBL models. Thus, it can be concluded that the uses PBL models is influential in increasing the students activity and achievement. Abstract

The study aims to identify students learning styles, correlation between student learning styles, and the related factors. The research samples using cluster random sampling technique of IX grade students with total samples were 318 students. Qualitative data were factors information and quantitative data which were learning styles and the achievement scores that were obtained from questionnares, interview, and tests. The data were analyzed by using Kolmogorov-Smirnov, linearity test, and product moment correlation test. The result showed that there were three ways of learning styles that the most widely used by students: reading (54,40%), listening (29,56%), and Speaking and writing (12,26%). The correlation result indicates a high significant correlation between learning styles and learning achievements. The dominant learning factors that influence student learning styles were learning resources.Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui cara belajar dan hubungan dengan prestasi belajar IPA, serta faktor yang berhubungan dengan cara belajar siswa. Desain penelitian berupa deskriptif-korelasional. Sampel penelitian menggunakan cluster random sampling pada siswa kelas IX di Metro Pusat dengan total sampel 318 siswa. Data kualitatif berupa deskripsi hubungan antara cara belajar dengan prestais belajar IPA, dan deskripsi hubungan antara faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi belajar dengan cara belajar siswa. Data kuantitatif berupa nilai angket dan nilai tes prestasi belajar. Data dianalisis dengan uji Kolmogorov-Smirnov, uji linieritas, dan uji korelasi product moment. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tiga cara belajar yang paling banyak digunakan yaitu membaca (54,40%), mendengar (29,56%), serta mengucap dan menulis (12,26%). Hasil korelasi menunjukkan adanya hubungan signifikan yang tinggi antara cara belajar dengan prestasi belajar. Faktor belajar yang dominan berhubungan dengan cara belajar siswa adalah sumber belajar.Kata k#unci: cara belajar, faktor belajar, prestasi belajar

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the students questioning skill and quality of male and female students question based on Bloom's taxonomy revision. This study design using simple descriptive design. The samples were selected by simple random sampling technique that were class VII-1, VII-2, VII-3, VIII-1, VIII-3 and VIII-4 junior high school. The data in were qualitative data that were the questioning skill and quality of male and female students question. The accumulation data technique used observation and questionnaire. The data were obtained from percentage with descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that the questioning skill of students classified in "medium" category with a percentage of 53.59%. In addition, male students was 12.32% more often asking question than female students with low-level cognitive question that was 28.46%, was dominant by level question C2 that was 16.87%.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan keterampilan bertanya dan kualitas pertanyaan siswa laki-laki dan siswa perempuan berdasarkan taksonomi Bloom revisi. Desain penelitian menggunakan desain deskriptif sederhana. Sampel dipilih dengan teknik simple random sampling yaitu siswa kelas VII-1, VII-2, VII-3, VIII-1, VIII-3, dan VIII-4 SMP. Data penelitian berupa data kualitatif yaitu keterampilan bertanya dan kualitas pertanyaan siswa laki-laki dan perempuan. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi dan angket. Data yang telah diperoleh dihitung dalam bentuk persentase dengan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan bertanya siswa tergolong sedang dengan persentase sebesar 53,59%. Selain itu, siswa laki-laki diketahui 12,32% lebih banyak bertanya dibandingkan siswa perempuan dengan kualitas pertanyaan tergolong dalam pertanyaan kognitif tingkat rendah sebesar 28,46% yang didominansi oleh pertanyaan C2 sebanyak 16,87%.Kata kunci: gender, keterampilan bertanya, kualitas pertanyaan, taksonomi Bloom

Abstract

This study was aimed to find out the relationship between living environmental knowlege with living environmental care attitude. The design of this research was descriptive quantitative. The subjects of this study were students of VIII grade of SMP Negeri 3 Tumijajar that were obtaimed sample technique with the number of 112 students. Knowledge understanding was measured by tests and environmental care attitudes with a Likert scale questionnaire. The data of the research were analyzed by simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that students' environmental knowledge is sufficient (49.6 15.2). Bisides that, the environmental care attitude of students was very well (83.9 8.6). The results also showed that there was a significant correlation between living environmental knowledge with environmental care attitude with the value of correlation 0.50 and there was a low contribution that was 25%. The results of these contributions showed that the formation of environmental attitude was not fully influenced by environmental knowledge.Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui hubungan antara pengetahuan lingkungan hidup dengan sikap peduli lingkungan hidup. Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Tumijajar yang diambil dengan teknik sampel jenuh dengan jumlah 112 siswa. Penguasaan pengetahuan diukur dengan tes dan sikap peduli lingkungan diambil dengan kuesioner skala Likert. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan analisis regresi linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan pengetahuan lingkungan hidup siswa berkategori cukup (49,6 15,2). Selain itu, sikap peduli lingkungan hidup siswa berkategori sangat baik (83,9 8,6). Hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara pengetahuan lingkungan hidup dengan sikap peduli lingkungan hidup dengan nilai hubungan 0,50 dan terdapat kontribusi yang rendah sebesar 25 %. Hasil kontribusi tersebut menunjukkan terbentuknya sikap peduli lingkungan tidak sepenuhnya dipengaruhi pengetahuan lingkungan.Kata kunci : hubungan, pengetahuan lingkungan, sikap peduli lingkungan

Abstract

The observations and discussions with teachers who taught in Biology class III SD Negeri 1 Kampung Baru Lampung, it is known that the dominant learning more teachers using the conventional approach. Students also receive more information from the teacher so that students are less than optimal in empowering potential, including critical thinking skills. One effort that can help empower students in critical thinking skills is to use science process skills. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the use of science process skills for critical thinking skills of students in the subject matter of Characteristics and Needs of Living Things. The study design is a group pretest-posttest non-equivalent. The samples in this study were grade IIIA and IIIB were randomly selected by random sampling technique clusster. Data were obtained from the pretest and posttest at each meeting, the gain score is calculated by the formula. Data analysis using t-test at 5% level of belief using SPSS 17. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant effect of the use of science process skills for critical thinking skills of students in the subject matter of Characteristics and Needs of Living Things. Critical thinking skills students are learning in the classroom using science process skills approach higher grade than learning to use a conventional approach.

Abstract

This research was purposed to know the influence of interactive multimedia towards the conceptual understanding and students learning activity. The samples were students of VIIC and VIID SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung that were chosen by Purposive Sampling technique. The research used pretest-posttest non equivalent design. The data were obtained from the pretest, posttest, and N-gain which were analyzed by using U-Test. Learning activities and student responses were analyzed descriptively. The increasing of conceptual understanding with N-gain average that was 49,00 was significantly different with control class that was 40,00. Activity of presenting the result of discussions had less citeria, while expressing opinions or ideas, working in teams, asking questions had enough criteria. Therefore, interactive multimedia improved conceptual understanding and students activity on subject matter of the characteristics of living things.Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh multimedia interaktif terhadap peningkatan penguasaan materi dan aktivitas belajar siswa. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIIC dan VIID SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung, dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Desain penelitian menggunakan pretest-posttest tak ekuivalen. Data penguasaan materi siswa diperoleh dari pretest, posttest dan N-Gain yang dianalisis menggunakan uji U. Data aktivitas belajar dan tanggapan siswa dianalisis secara deskriptif. Peningkatan penguasaan materi siwa kelas eksperimen dengan rata-rata N-gain (49,00) berbeda signifikan dengan kelas kontrol (40,00). Aktivitas mempresentasikan hasil diskusi berkriteria kurang, sedangkan aktivitas mengemukakan pendapat atau ide, bekerjasama dalam kelompok, mengajukan pertanyaan berkriteria cukup. Dengan demikian, penggunaan multimedia interaktif dapat meningkatkan penguasaan materi dan aktivitas belajar siswa pada materi pokok ciri-ciri makhluk hidup.Kata kunci : aktivitas belajar, ciri-ciri makhluk hidup, multimedia interaktif, penguasaan materi

Abstract

This study aimed to describethe students misconceptions and factors that affected misconception. Samples were 30 students that were selected by using saturated sampling technique. This study design was simple descriptive. Data were obtained from students and teachers, written test of identification misconception and questionnaire. Data were analysed using CRI methods ad misconceptions factors that were analyzed usig percentage formula and Pearson Product Moment Correlation test. The result showed that there were miscoception on studets percentage Misconception of 28,13%. Studets who have the highest miscoception on the chromosome was 38,33%.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan miskonsepsi siswa dan faktor yang mempengaruhi miskonsepsi. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa SMA kelas XII IPA Se-Kecamatan Tanjungkarang Barat Bandar Lampung berjumlah 30 siswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik Sampling Jenuh. Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriftif sederhana. Data diperoleh dari soal tes tertulis identifikasi miskonsepsi dan pemberian angket siswa dan guru. Analisis data miskonsepsi menggunakan metode CRI dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi miskonsepsi dianalisis menggunakan rumus persentase serta uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi miskonsepsi siswa sebesar 28,13%. Siswa yang mengalami miskonsepsi paling tinggi pada konsep kromosom sebesar 38,33%.Kata kunci: Certainty of Response Index (CRI), miskonsepsi, substansi genetika

Abstract

To ensure the success of science learning oriented to higher order thinking skills, especially scientific communication skills (SCS), valid and effective instruments are needed. The existing instruments, although helpful, are still too general and have not touched the socio-cultural context. Therefore, we developed an instrument to measure SCS according to the characteristics of students in Indonesia. This study tested the validity, reliability and assumptions of the hypothetical model of the scientific communication skills inventory (SCSI) instrument developed. This study involved 1,287 students in Indonesia. The test was carried out through confirmatory factor analysis with structural equation modelling (SEM) using AMOS version 21. The results of the analysis show that the reliability of the instrument based on Cronbach’s alpha coefficient is 0.720. The convergent validity test detected one item of the oral presentation indicator as invalid and the discriminant validity test confirmed that all instrument items were declared valid. The goodness of fit test shows all scores according to the recommended standard criteria so that SCSI can be used to identify the SCS ability profile of students in Indonesia. For further research, we recommend the development of a learning model that prioritizes the context of social issues to grow students’ SCS.

Abstract

This essay's purpose is to provide a summary the perceptions of science teachers towards scaffolding learning programs with peer tutoring in improving scientific communication skills and HOTS. This research was conducted in the province of Lampung, Indonesia, involving 74 middle school science teacher respondents. A mixed method with a sequential explanatory design was used for the study. Data were collected through interviews and surveys, and descriptive analysis was used to analyse the results. The survey findings indicate that science instructors have a favourable opinion of using scaffolding in conjunction with peer tutoring. The analysis's findings indicate that most instructors have not used peer tutoring and scaffolding in the classroom to help students advance from their current competencies to potential competencies. In addition, teachers also have not implemented scaffolding learning programs with peer tutoring.
