Abstract

Indonesia Port Corporation I (PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I (Persero)) or PT. Pelindo I is one of the Indonesian state-owned enterprises which manages port services in western Indonesia. Shipyard unit (Unit Galangan Kapal (UGK)) is a branch of PT. Pelindo I. At present, a problem arises if more than 2 ships are being repaired at once in the unit, UGK scheduling overlaps the repairing activities. In order to solve the problem, study of human factor is important. Human factor is the study of the limitations, capabilities, and human behavior, as well as its interaction with the product, environment, equipment and the establishment of tasks and activities. One part of the human factor is the human factor in system design. In order to improve the effectiveness of the system, the human factor must be involved in each phase of the design process in the system design. This includes a number of activities to obtain input specification work, therefore the working methods and the optimal amount of labor can be determined. Human factors engineering is the application of science that utilizes research on the human factor and use the basic knowledge to design, to repair and to install the system. This research method is causal, searching for the causes which led to delays in the completion of ship repairing. Through human factor engineering approach to the allocation of labor increased by 12.23 per cent of the actual conditions, so that the delay of ship repair were not found during normal conditions.

Abstract

PT. YYY is a company engaged in the production of antimosquito. The problems faced by the company is not ergonomic chair sorters. It’s height is not compatible with the work area (oven baking sheet) and doesn’t have a backrest. It resulted a risk in a working posture sorter. If allowed to continue, may lead to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The research used qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative method with SNQ (standar Nordic quetionaire) and comfortable quetionaire. SNQ is used to know the pain in part of body as a resulted not ergonomic chair sorters. Quantitative method with measure body dimension of sorters and redesign chair’s sorter by antropometric approach. In antropometric approach, do some testing. That is : uniformity test, adequacy test, normality test, and percentile value determination. Shoulder breadth and sitting shoulder height was proceed by 95 percentil, while buttock-popliteal was proceed by 50 percentile. The samples used were as many 39 sorter employees. SNQ shows that employees have pain in someparts of their body such as hips and buttocks. The result showed that risk reduction of MSDs. Actual working posture get level 6 which indicate that chair improvement is important, while employees’working postures with redesigned chair get level 3. Level 3 showed risk reduction on employees

Abstract

The purpose of this literature is to understand the application of macroergonomics in various fields. Macroergonomics is the study of work systems which include organizational structures (complexity, formalization, centralization, policies, and processes) with a socio-technical approach used to improve work systems. The method used is a thematic analysis of articles on the application of macroergonomics in various industries. Based on the results of the article review, the process of implementing macroergonomics is analysis, design, implementation, control, and evaluation. All review articles carry out macro ergonomics analysis and design within the scope of the work system as a whole but do not intervene in all factors/problems. The reviewed articles show that the intervention is carried out only on a few factors, where human and organizational factors are always involved. The application of macroergonomics can achieve many goals at once that are beneficial to organizations, workers, and even consumers. The highest frequency of macro ergonomics objectives in consecutive review articles was: quality, occupational health, safety, work existence, productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Abstract

All types of work must have potential hazards in the work, namely work-related illnesses or work accidents. The level of potential occupational hazard is influenced by the type of production activity, the technology used, the materials used, the design and construction environment, and the quality of management and workers. Musculoskeletal disorders, caused not only by aging but also by unergonomic settings of the equipment used, are one of the frequent occupational diseases caused by worker-job mismatch. This study aims to review the participatory macroergonomics literature based on the collected references on the development and application of creating ergonomic physical work environments. Participatory methods are methods that aim to find solutions agreed upon by managers, workers and ergonomics experts, and the result of this research is the ergonomic design of work environments.

Abstract

Traffic accidents are one of the highest causes of death in the world, with human behavior being the most dominant factor. Therefore, it is necessary to understand driver behavior as a traffic accident mitigation strategy. This paper aims to understand the behavior of drivers at signaled intersections and to overcome the deviant behavior. The behavior of the driver at the intersection is to stop or cross the intersection. Crossing at an intersection at a red light is deviant behavior. This deviation can occur as violation due to driver aggression or error due to a dilemma when the light is yellow. The influencing factors are personal, speed, acceleration, distance, the presence of other vehicles, and others. The main countermeasure for deviant behavior at intersections is law enforcement, such as the installation of red light cameras. In addition, the behavior of drivers at intersections can be used as a reference in the design of safer intersections.
