Abstract

Background: Dental radiographic examination is one of the most frequent radiological examinations carried out. X-rays in dental radiography is a shortwave electromagnetic rays that cause ionization reaction to any biological material in its path. The purpose of this article is to give an overview of stochastic effects in general as well as to pregnant women and fetuses in particular.Discussion: Ionizing radiation, such as X-ray radiation, is potentially teratogenic. Safe dose has not been well defined, although there has been approved dosing limits. Gestational age most vulnerable is the end of week 2 to A weeks post-conception. If the much needed radiographs of a woman who is pregnant, then the X-ray exposure will be directed mostly to the head and neck area.Conc/usion: Therefore, the application of the principle of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) as well as good protection, including instrument control, protection of the room, the cumulative exposure dose control, and the use of apron throughout the process, is noteworthy. Such protection, especially for pregnant women and fetuses.

Abstract

Background: Aplication of composites resin in relatively small amount as a restorative material often causing the material reaches its expiry date before all of the material can be used. Composites resin that have passed the expiry date would affect charateristic of the material. The aim of this study was to investigate surface hardness difference of composite resins based on material expiration date. Methods: This research was an experimental laboratory using post test only with control group design. Samples for this research were 27 divided into 3 groups based on its expiration date (2016, 2018 and 2019). The surface hardness was measured by Shore D Hardness. The result of this research were tested with One Way Anova and Post Hoc test LSD.Result: The lowest surface hardness result was measured on group 1 (81.02SHD) and the highest was group 3 (94.72 SHD). The result of One Way Anova test showed that there was signifcant differences in all groups (p<0.05). Post Hoc LSD test showed difference signifcantly between each groups. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there was signifcant difference of composite resins surface hardness based on material’s expiration date

Abstract

Background: Transmission in radiology facilities must be prevented by taking additional infection control precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic. A number of variables, including knowledge and attitudes, affect how an action is applied. The association between dentistry professional students’ knowledge and attitudes about the COVID-19 pandemic infection control protocol at the RSIGM Sultan Agung radiology installation is to be evaluated. Method: Analytic-observational research was used in this case, with a cross-sectional analysis of 139 samples. Validity and reliability tests have been done on the questionnaire. This study was conducted online using Google Forms for data collection, and SPSS 25 was used for the correlation test. Result: The results of the analysis show a significant correlation with a positive direction. Correlation strength (r) 0.263 indicates a weak correlation strength between the two variables. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between these two variables. The implementation of infection control procedures at the Sultan Agung RSIGM radiology installation during pandemic COVID-19 from a knowledge and attitude perspective was still imperfect.
