Abstract

This study aimed to examine religiosity's relationship with prosocial students' behavior in Aceh, Indonesia. This research was a quantitative survey using cross-sectional studies and data collected from selected individuals over a specific period. The researchers collected data from 649 students (299 male and 350 females) using a non-proportional stratified sampling. Data were collected using two questionnaires, (1) Islamic Religiosity by using SPPIM-R and (2) Prosocial Behavior by using PTM-R. The data were analyzed descriptively. The statistical analysis (hypothesis testing) was done using product-moment correlation assisted by SPSS/PC Ver.16.00. The result showed that there was a significant positive correlation between religiosity and prosocial behavior among students. The respective R-square was 0.494, and the result of the coefficient was 0.703. However, there was no significant difference in prosocial behavior among religious high school and public school students, although female students were more prosocial than male students.

Abstract

This study aims to understanding the spirituality meaning on HIV/AIDS Survivor. Subjects in this study is 1 HIV/AIDS survivors at the age of 15-30 years old. This study is a qualitative study. Data obtained by interview and observation. Results of this study show that religiousity has an influence to survivor’s acceptance. When subjects were diagnosed by the doctor, they felt depressed and unstable. They even thought that God is unfair. But after one or two months, some of the subject became more religious. They thought that the religion’s ritual had a good effect for their mental and spiritual health.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keinginan peneliti untuk melakukan penelitian pada remaja korban bencana alam tsunami di LPI al-Ishlah al-Aziziyah Lueng Bata, Banda Aceh. Remaja korban dari bencana alam tsunami yang kehilangan keluarga, rumah dan lain-lain merupakan kondisi yang memperihatinkan dan mempunyai kecenderungan untuk merasakan cemas dalam menghadapi masa depan. Oleh karena itu, peneliti bertujuan untuk melihat apakah ada hubungan religiusitas  dengan kecemasan menghadapi masa depan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di LPI Al-Ishlah Al-Aziziyah Lueng Bata, Banda Aceh. Analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah korelasi product moment.Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah remaja di LPI Al-Ishlah Al-Aziziyah Lueng Bata Banda Aceh yang berjumlah 50 orang remaja yang terdiri dari remaja perempuan dan laki-laki. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah sebagian dari populasi, yaitu berjumlah 44 orang dengan teknik sampling probabilitas. Hasil penelitian analisis data pada penelitian ini didapat nilai r = -0,204 dan signifikansi P=0,183 (P0,001) artinya hipotesis yang diajukan oleh peneliti ditolak yaitu tidak ada hubungan antara religiusitas dengan kecemasan menghadapi masa depan pada remaja korban bencana alam tsunami di LPI al-Ishlah al-Aziziyah Lueng Bata Banda Aceh. Denagn sumbangan efektif sebesar 0,42% sedangkan 95,8% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain. Seperti faktor penerimaan sosial, kenyamanan lingkungan tempat tinggal, faktor usia, factor masa pasca tsuami dan faktor pendidikan. Kata kunci: Kecemasan menghadapi masa depan, Religiusitas, Korban Bencana Alam Tsunami.

Abstract

Abstract

Gaya kepemimpinan merupakan gaya yang ditunjukkan seorang pemimpinan dalam emmberi pengarahan, bimbingan terhadap bawahannya. Pemimpin memiliki peran penting dalam suatu perusahaan dan dapat menunjang kinerja karyawannya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan gaya kepemimpinan (demokratis, otokratis dan bebas) serta pengaruhnya dengan kinerja karyawan.Populasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 115 karyawan Matahari Departement Store di hermes Palace Mall Kota Banda Aceh dan yang dijadikan sampel berjumlah 80 karyawan untuk penyebaran skala menggunakan teknik random sampling. Uji yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini ialah uji normalitas sebaran, uji linieritas dan uji regresi.Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh positif yang signifikan pada gaya kepemimpinan demokratis terhadap kinerja karyawan yang ditunjuk oleh koefisien gaya kepemimpinan yang demokratis terhadap kinerja karyawan yang ditunjuk oleh koefisien beta 0,352, dengan signifikansi p=0,014 (0,05), hipotesis minor yang diajukan diterima. Terdapat pengaruh yang sangat signifikan pada gaya kepemimpinan otokratis terhadap kinerja karyawan yang ditunjukkan oleh koefisien  beta 0,417, dengan signifikansi p=0,005 (0,05), hipotesis yang diajukan diterima. Gaya kepemimpinan bebas tidak terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan dengan nilai koefisien  beta -0,188 dan signifikan p=0,147 (0,05). Hipotes yang diajukan ditolak.Secara koefisien korelasi (R) sebesar 0,334 menyatakan ada hubungan antara gaya kepemimpinan dengan kinerja karyawan Matahari Departement Store di Hermes Palace Mall Kota Banda Aceh. Dengan sumbangan efektif sebesar 0,334, (33,4%), sementara 66,6% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain. Gaya kepemimpinan di Matahari Departement Store berada pada kategori baik dan efektif, keluar masuk karyawan bukanlah disebabkan oleh gaya kepemimpinan yang tidak baik, akan tetapi bias saja dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor lain.Kata kunci: Gaya kepemimpinan dan Kinerja Karyawan.

Abstract

The religious values that have been embedded in human’s soul which played a major role in the development of human’s character. So that, many religions teach virtue, a short of the reflection of the ideals to make happen people honest and pious in their life. A number researches have been conducted among western people specially on non moslem but in many ways need to be adjusted in the context of Muslim society. As the result, the concept of religiosity that Western researchers developed still are not applicable with eastern cultures which are more transcendent.  Since the study of religiosity in the context of Eastern community is still in limited amounts, therefore this paper seeks to enrich the number of works on religiousity specially in Islamic perspective.  Islam is a rational, practical and con-prehensif religion. Ansari (in Ancok), states that Islam is basically divided into three dimensions, namely faith (Islam), religious (sharia) and morality (Ihsan), in which three parts were interconnected with each other

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the attitude of religious tolerance among higher school students in Banda Aceh. How higher school students from different religions express religious tolerance and how is the students’ tolerance formed. This research uses descriptive research method, which is conducted in two higher schools  (SMU) in Banda Aceh; State higher School of No Three  (SMU No. 3) and Private higher school of  (SMU) Methodist, from March to August 2013. This research uses purposive sampling in collecting sample from all higher school students in both schools. Eight students consisting of four Muslims and the rest are not Muslims represent the sample. They were interviewed and directly observed. This study indicates that the students’ attitude in interfaith relationship at schools is flexible. From institutional policy, Both school equally treat students of both psychological and learning needs without distinction. Students also express respect to each other and to any kind of differences, acknowledge and allow the manifestation of diverse religious practices and rights. The students do not allow the differences among them become barrier in friendship and other social relationship.

Abstract

Religion and environment are seen as separated and unrelated discourses.  This understanding positions religion to unlikely give any contribution in enhancing  Muslims awareness on environment. Actually, in Islamic concept, the Quran  frequently mentions environment in different ways as a basic conception on  environment. At least there are three concepts introduced by the Quran; al-bi’ah, al- mubahat, marafiq al-balad. Al-bi’ah (occupying a territory, life space and  environment) perceives environment as a living space especially for humankind.  Through the concept of Muhabat, Islam treats forest ecosystem as a free space. There  are two categories in this concept. Firstly, environment is seen as a death earth (al- mawat) if the forests are wild jungles and remote from human territories. When the  forests are geographically around human territories, so they fall under the second  category that is marafiq al-balad (edge earth). This article explores the Islamic  concept on environment which is introduced by contemporary Muslim scholar, Yusuf  al-Qardhawi. According to him, there are some concepts in Islam that are related to  protecting environment. These concepts are of al-istishlah (shared benefit), maqashid  al-syari’ah, and Sunnah. This article is also enriched by Fitri’s thesis that explores  the role of religion and the awareness to protect environment in Simpang Tiga sub-disctict, Pidie of Aceh province. Her research finds that some of community religious  activities are not correlative with the awareness in protecting environment.

Abstract

The founding of Indonesia higher Islamic education (PTAI) isaimed to develop Islamic studies discourses and create intellectualulama and religious scientists. But, in the PTAI development as the frontline educational media for Islamic studies needs to make contact and dialog with other knowledge. Dichotomy between secular (non religious oriented knowledge) and religious oriented knowledge causes PTAI confined to develop its studies. That is also the tendency in the present time, in which Islamic studies seems to be irrelevant to modern life. This short article explains about the IAIN conversion process to UIN as integrating efforts of religious studies to that of secular knowledge which are based on the paradigm of hree knowledge: ontology, epistemology, and axiology/pragmatism. By applying these three paradigms all together, IAIN can ease the way to alleviate its status from IAIN to UIN. Integrating knowledge cannot be done by ignoring the paradigms. Because, a iscourse will remain secular if it is not based on ontological perspective or firm and complete world view or Tauhid (the Oneness principle). Also, an epistemology of knowledge will remain exploitative and abusive if it is not based on Islamic ontology. One should  otice that the disintegrated construction of knowledge would be useless in the hand of immoral scholars. To do so, while doing conversion, axiological part should be constructed

Abstract

International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC) was established by the Malaysian government in 1987. Assoc. Dr. Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas is the Founder Director (Founder-Director) the first ISTAC and given responsibility for building design and drafting ISTAC academic courses. The Institute is the only institution in Malaysia and the Islamic world who view knowledge of Islamic studies from the three perspectives of Islamic Thought (Islamic Thought), Civilisation Islam (Islamic Civilization) and Islamic Sciences (Islamic Science). These areas is suitable to learn and studied by all the background knowledge of students interested in Islamic studies from the perspective of history, historiography, philosophy, civilization and its relation to past and contemporary civilization. This paper will describe the ISTAC contribution in strengthening the medical history of Islamic knowledge based on experience of the writer as a graduate student ISTAC from 1994 to 2002.
