Abstract

This research aimed to identify behavior of adopting technology innovation of local chicken farmers in Banyumas. Qualitative approach was applied to get a further examination on farmers’ characteristics and pattern of adopted maintenance system while domain, taxonomy and component analysis were further applied in accordance to innovation as the main goal. Purposive Random Sampling was used to determine 176 respondents from six groups of local chicken farmers in five selected sub districts. Result showed that maintenance systems applied by the farmers were traditional maintenance (39.77%), semi-intensive (52.27%), and intensive (7.96%). Intensification workshop, in conclusion did not always meet the result expectancy since many farmers still applied traditional and semi-intensive system.Keywords: adoption behavior, technology innovation, intensification, local chicken farmers Animal Production 14(2):118-122

Abstract

The research was for knowing the big motivation and behavior of all the livestocks of dairy goat in association of ettawa grade dairy goat in Turi subdistrict, Sleman regency. For knowing the relationship between behavior (attitude, knowledge, and skill) by their motivation . The research used two variables which is related to each other between behavior (attitude, knowledge, and skill) by motivation and quisioner as the collection data equipment. The research used sensus method that is research which took 40 samples of live stocks who include in ettawa grade dairy goat association in Turi subdistrict, Sleman regency. Analysis method taht was used in this research ir pearson correlation. The analysis is for knowing the relationship between behavior (attitude, knowledge, and skill) individually with motivation in ettawa grade dairy goat association in Turi subdistrict, Sleman regency. The result of research showed that knowledge range between 113-140, that (57,5 %) best category, attitude range between 113-140, that is (55 %) best category, skill range between 113-140 that is (60 %) best category, motivation range between 30-40, that is (85 %) category high motivation. Knowledge have strong relationship with motivation, attitude have low relationship with motivation, skill have medium relationship with motivation.Key words : ettawa grade dairy goat, motivation and behavior.ABSTRAK Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui besar motivasi dan perilaku para peternak kambing perah di paguyuban kambing perah kecamatan Turi, kabupaten Sleman. Untuk mengetahui hubungan antara perilaku (sikap, pengetahuan, dan ketrampilan) dengan motivasi para peternak kambing perah di paguyuban kambing perah kecamatan turi, kabupaten Sleman. Penelitian menggunakan 2 variabel yang saling behubungan antara perilaku (pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan) dengan motivasi dan kuisioner sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Penelitian menggunakan metode sensus yaitu penelitian yang mengambil sampel 40 peternak yang termasuk dalam anggota Paguyuban Peternak Kambing Perah Peranakan Ettawa Kecamatan Turi Kabupaten Sleman Yogyakarta. Metode analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis korelasi pearson. Analisis untuk mengetahui hubungan antara perilaku (pengetahuan, sikap, dan ketrampilan) secara individual dengan motivasi pada paguyuban peternak kambing perah peranakan ettawa Kecamatan Turi Kabupaten Sleman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan berkisar skor nilai antara 113-140, yaitu sebesar (57,5%) kategori sangat baik, sikap berkisar skor nilai antara 113-140, yaitu sebesar (55%) kategori sangat baik, keterampilan berkisar antara 113-140, yaitu sebesar (60%) kategori sangat baik, motivasi skor nilai antara 30-40, yaitu sebesar (85%) kategori motivasi tinggi. Pengetahuan memiliki hubungan yang kuat terhadap motivasi, Sikap memiliki hubungan yang rendah terhadap motivasi, Ketrampilan memiliki hubungan yang sedang terhadap motivasi.Kata kunci :kambing peranakan ettawa, motivasi, dan perilaku.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya hubungan antara motivasi dengan perilaku dalam pemanfaatan teknologi inseminasi buatan pada peternak anggota Kelompok Tani Ternak (KTT) di Kecamatan Ungaran Barat. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2012 – Januari 2013. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode survai. Penentuan responden dilakukan dengan metode Stratified Random Sampling menggunakan rumus Slovin. Pengumpulan data yang diperoleh merupakan hasil data primer yang didapatkan berdasarkan hasil wawancara dan data sekunder menggunakan studi dokumenter. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif menggunakan perhitungan statistik dengan bantuan Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 16. Hasil perhitungan statistik menunjukan adanya korelasi antara motivasi terhadap perilaku, pengetahuan, sikap dan keterampilan sebesar 0,979; 0,979; 0,556 dan 0,962. Hal ini dapat diartikan, adanya hubungan positif yang sangat erat atau sangat tinggi antara motivasi peternak dengan perilaku dalam pemanfaatan teknologi inseminasi buatan. Faktor yang mempengaruhi tingkat keeratan motivasi terhadap perilaku dalam pemanfaatan inseminasi buatan adalah umur dan pengalaman beternak. Dapat disimpulkan dengan meningkatnya motivasi responden dalam pemanfaatan teknologi inseminasi buatan, secara tidak langsung akan sangat erat meningkatkan perilakunya. Disarankan agar responden lebih peningkatan keterampilan dilapangan terutama sistem recording, agar penerapan manfaat teknologi inseminasi buatan dapat berjalan dengan baik.Kata Kunci : motivasi, perilaku, inseminasi buatan, sapi perahABSTRACT The aim of this research is to determine a relationship between motivation and behavior in the use of artificial insemination technology on farmer members of Livestock Farmers Community (KTT) in the West Ungaran District. The study conducted on December 2012 up to January 2013. Survay method was used in this research. Responden were chosen with stratified random sampling supported with slovin equation. Primary and secondary data were collected. Descriptive quantitatif was used in data analysis, supported with Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 16. The result showed correlation between motivation and behavior, knowledge, atitude and skills with r-square 0,979, 0,979, 0,556 and 0,962, respectively. Highly correlation showed in correlation of motivation and behavior towards artificial inseminaton technology used. Factor affected correlation of motivation and behavior towards artificial inseminaton technology used are age and experience. This study concluded that increasing motivation of responden will increased behavior of the artificial inseminaton technology used. Suggested that increasing skills of farmers by government to increased bahavior of the artificial inseminaton technology used.Key words: motivation, behavior, artificial insemination, dairy cattle

Abstract

A research was carried out to analyze the influence of productive factors on the performance ofkarapan (means racing) cattle business in Madura Island, East Java Province, Indonesia. The researchwas conducted by a survey method, with 135 karapan cattle farmers as respondents in regencies ofBangkalan, Sampang, Pamekasan and Sumenep (mainland). The data were collected in the period ofApril to August 2012. Data of zootechnique indicators variables, farmer’s motivation, allocation time oflabour, labour skills, business scale, productivity of karapan cattle, farmers' performance and benefit ofkarapan cattle business were analysed by Lisrel 8.8 program. The results showed that factors ofzootechnique, farmer’s motivation, labour skills and business scale had highly significant influence(P<0.01) on productivity of karapan cattle, but allocation time of labour did not have significantinfluence (P>0.05). The performance of karapan cattle business was highly influenced by productivity ofkarapan cattle (P<0.01). The benefit of karapan cattle business was influenced (P<0.01) by performanceof karapan cattle business. It is concluded that the farmer's benefit of karapan cattle business wasinfluenced by performance of karapan cattle, which in turn was influenced by productivity of thekarapan cattle.
