Abstract

The aims of this experiment were to identify carbohydrases in rumen liquor of cattle, and to determine optimum temperature and pH of enzymes, as well as to evaluate the effect of metal ions and chemical substances on enzymes activity. Optimum precipitation of the enzymes from local and imported cattle was reached at the concentration of 60% and 70% of ammonium sulphate, respectively. The enzymes (xylanase, mannanase, and amylase) had optimum temperature  in the range of 50-60 °C, except for cellulase  from imported cattle  which had optimum temperature at 39 oC, optimum pH of the enzymes were 6-7 except for cellulase was at pH 4. The enzymes mostly needed methal ions as activators. EDTA and β-mercaptoethanol inhibited activity of cellulase from rumen liquor of local cattle, while enzymes from rumen liquor of imported cattle EDTA inhibited xylanase activity and β-mercaptoethanol inhibited mannanase and amylase activity.  Activity of cellulase in rumen liquor of local cattle was higher than those of imported cattle. It is concluded that rumen liquor of imported and local cattles from abbatoir contained cellulase, xylanase, mannase and amylase that most of them had optimum temperature and pH at 50-60 oC and 6-7, respectively, and they needed methal ions as activators.   Key words: cattle, rumen liquor, abattoir, enzymes, characterization

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of addition of rumen fluid enzymes of buffaloes from slaughterhouse in diet on feed intake, slaughter weight, daily weight gain, feed conversion ratio, absolute carcass weight, relative carcass weight, and digestive organs of broiler. Materials used was two hundred unsexed 1 day old chicks of broilers. The study used a completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications consisted of 10 birds each replication. Treatment groups were as follows P0 = diet  without addition of rumen fluid enzymes (control); P1 = diet  with addition of rumen fluid enzymes of 0.75%; P2 = diet with addition of rumen fluid enzymes of 1.5%; P3= diet with addition of rumen fluid enzymes of 2.25%; P4=  diet with addition of rumen fluid enzymes of 3%. The variables observed were feed intake, slaughter weight, daily weight gain, feed conversion ratio, absolute carcass weight, relative carcass weight, and digestive organs. Results of the study showed that the treatments gave a non-significant different (P>0.05) on feed intake, slaughter weight, daily weight gain, feed conversion ratio, absolute carcass weight, relative carcass weight, and digestive organs of broiler chicken.  It could be concluded that the use of rumen fluid enzymes of buffaloes in the diets up to 3% level did not increase performance and digestive organs of broiler chicken.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of varying levels of cattle rumen fluid obtained from abattoirs as sources of a crude enzyme on growth performances and carcass characteristics of Kerinci ducks fed rations based on local feed ingredients. The research was carried out using 140 one-week-old male Kerinci ducks. The experiment used a randomized block design consisted of 5 treatments, each with 4 replicate groups and was blocked based on body weight, while each cage unit consisted of 7 ducks. The treatments applied were R1= 0 mL RFS/kg ration (control), R2= R1 + 22 mL RFS/kg ration, R3= R1 + 44 mL RFS/kg ration, R4= R1 + 66 mL RFS/kg ration, and R5= R1 + 88 mL RFS/kg ration. The experimental ducks were fed the experimental ration for 7 weeks and fed ad libitum according to the treatment. At the end of the 7th weeks of treatment, two ducks from each cage were slaughtered and utilized for analysis of carcass and digestive organs parameters. The results showed that the addition of RFS up to a level of 88 mL/kg ration had no significant effect (p>0.05) on feed consumption, feed conversion, carcass weight, and digestive-organ weight. Still, it had significant effects on body weight gain and final body weight. The highest body weight gain and final body weight were achieved with the addition of RFS at the level of 88 mL/kg ration. It can be concluded that the addition of cattle rumen-fluid supernatant as a source of crude enzymes at the level of 88 mL/kg ration improved the growth performance of local Kerinci ducks.

Abstract

This study aims to utilize a sufficient amount of palm kernel cake (PKC) and buffalo rumen fluid as a source of enzymes to improve the quality of PKC that can be used in broiler feed. The study was conducted in two stages. The first stage was to test the level of buffalo rumen fluid enzyme at various doses (0.0%, 0.75%, 1.5%, 2.25%, and 3.0% (v/w) in PKC incubation to measure dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude fiber (CF), and dissolved glucose total (DGT) contents as hydrolyzed PKC. The second stage was to determine the usage level of hydrolyzed PKC in broiler feed. A total of 288 DOC MB202 strains were randomly allocated to one of five treatments with four replicated cages of 12 birds in a completely randomized design. Treatments were the various level of hydrolyzed PKC as following: 0%, 6%, 12%, 18%, 24%, and 30%. The variables were feed consumption, body weight gain (BWG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), final body weight (FBW), carcass, and digestive organs weight. The level of buffalo rumen fluid enzymes had a significant effect on DM, CF, and DGT content, while it was not significant on OM. The optimum level was 2.25% and it was used in the second stage. The use of hydrolyzed PKC up to 18% was not different (P>0.05) in BWG, FCR, and FBW compared to controls. The use of hydrolyzed PKC up to 24% decreased BWG, FCR, and FBW, but feed consumption did not differ (P>0.05) compared to control. Carcass and digestive organ weight were not affected (P>0.05) by the treatment. It can be concluded that the incubated buffalo rumen fluid enzymes at a level of 2.25% could improve the quality of PKC. The use of hydrolyzed PKC could be applied up to 18% without affecting the performance of broilers

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 15 mei 2022 sampai 19 juli 2022 di Sungai Tabir Kelurahan Mampun Kecamatan Tabir Kabupaten Merangin. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode survei. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah Komposisi Jenis, Indeks Keanekaragaman, Indeks Keseragaman dan Indeks Dominansi. Hasil tangkapan Jala selama 15 hari penelitian di Sungai Tabir yaitu Ikan Seluang Rasbora argyotaenia 234 ekor dengan rata-rata per hari 15,6 ekor, Ikan Senggiring Mystus Sp. 119 ekor dengan rata-rata 7,93 ekor, Ikan Kapiat Barbonymus schwanenfeldii 89 ekor dengan rata-rata 5,93 ekor, Ikan Nilem Osteochilus vittatus 77 ekor dengan rata-rata 5,13 ekor dan Ikan Beterung Pristolepis fasciata 55 ekor dengan rata-rata 3,67 ekor. Hasil indeks keanekaragaman 1,47, indeks keseragamannya 0,91 dan indeks dominansi 0,26. Dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa Indeks Keanekaragaman Sedang, Indeks keseragamannya Tinggi sedangkan Indeks Dominansi rendah.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to study effect of using fermented copra meal with ragi tape in ration  to  replace  of  commercial  feed  diets  on  broiler  performance. One  hundreds  of  broiler  Lohman strain aged a week were randomly assigned to five dietary treatments. The treatments were consisted of two levels of copra meal without fermentation (BKTF) and two levels of copra meal with fermentation of ragi  tape  (BKFRT)  to  replace of part of  commercial  feed diets  (RK) and one  of dietary  treatment was without copra meal as a control. They were R0 = 100 percent of commercial feed diets as a control (RK); R1 = 10 percent of BKTF + 90 percent of RK; R2 = 20 percent of BKTF + 80 percent of RK; R3 = 10 percent of BKFRT + 90 percent of RK; dan R4 = 20 percent of BKFRT + 80 percent of RK.  The chicks were  fed  for  four weeks. At  the  end  of  experiment,  two  broilers  from  each units were  slaughtered  to measure  carcass  weight.  Data  from  completely  randomized  design  were  subjected  to  ANOVA  and different  among  treatments were  further  analyzed using Tukey  test. Parameters  of  the  research were feed consumption, average body weight gain, feed conversion, final body weight and carcass weight. The result of  the experiment  showed that using of copra meal with or without  fermentation used ragi tape  in broiler diets to replace commercial  feed diets were no significant effect on feed consumption, average body  weight  gain,  final  body  weight  and  carcass  weight,  but  they  had  signifacant  effect  on  feed conversion. Using of copra meal in broiler diets with or without fermentation of ragi tape (BKFRT and BKTF) at level of 20 percent were increase feed conversion. The result concluded that using copra meal in  broiler  diets with  or without  fermentation  of  ragi  tape  could  application  at  level  of  10  percent  to replace  commercial  feed  diets,  and  fermentation  of  copra  meal  used  of  ragi  tape  had  no  significant improvement on broiler performance.

Abstract

The aims of this experiment were to  identify and characterize of sediment product from cattle rumen liquor as a source of amino acids, minerals and vitamins. The sediment were obtained as pellets upon centrifugation of rumen liquor at 10,000 g for 10 minutes for collection of supernatant. The sediment were evaluated for amino acids, minerals and vitamins composition and chararacterized for the pH,  solubility of dry matter, specific density, bulk and compacted bulk densities and angle of response. Result of the experiment showed that sediment contained higher minerals:  Na, K and Fe compared with the commercial premix, but lower in B-vitamins and amino acids. The composition of mineral Na, K, and Fe from rumen liquor of local cattle was 13.47%, 7.73 % and 14.52 %,  while Na, K, and Fe from  rumen liquor of  imported cattle was 18.40%, 10.25%, and 14.52% respectively. The sediment had pH range from 10.01-10.03, the dry matter solubility  was 35.5% up to 39.1%. The sediment from imported cattle had higher specific density, bulk and compacted bulk densities and angle of response than that of local cattle. It is concluded that sediment from cattle rumen liquor contained high Na, K and Fe, low amino acids and B-vitamin, high pH and low solubility.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh tingkat penggunaan ekstrak fermentasi jahe (Zingiber officinale) dalam air minum terhadap konsumsi air minum, kualitas karkas (bobot potong, bobot karkas, persentase karkas, kolesterol karkas, bobot lemak abdomen) dan konsumsi ransum ayam broiler. Materi yang digunakan adalah ayam broiler umur satu hari unsex, strain Lohman sebanyak 200 ekor. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap terdiri 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan masing-masing ulangan terdiri dari 10 ekor ayam. Perlakuan terdiri dari P0 = Air minum tanpa penambahan ekstrak fermentasi jahe (kontrol); P1 = Air minum denagn penambah 2cc ekstrak fermentasi jahe ; P2 = Air minum dengan penambahan 4cc ekstrak fermentasi jahe; P3 = Air minum dengan penmahan 6cc ekstrak fermentasi jahe; P4 = Air minum dengan penambahan 8cc ekstrak fermentasi jahe. Variabel yang diamati adalah konsumsi air minum, kualitas karkas (bobot potong, bobot karkas, persentase karkas, kolesterol karkas, lemak abdomen) dan konsumsi ransum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan ekstrak fermentas jahe dalam air minum menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata (P<0,05) terhadap konsumsi ransum dan kualitas karkas (bobot potong, bobot karkas, persentase karkas tetapi penggunaan ekstrak fermentasi jahe dalam air minum dapat menurunkan kolesterol karkas dan bobot lemak abdomen. Kesimpulan yang dapat diambil dari penelitian ini adalah penggunaan ekstrak fermentasi jahe (Zingiber officinale) dapat digunakan sampai taraf 8 cc dalam air minum, dapat meningkatkan qualitas karkas dan konsumsi ransum dan dapat menurunkan kolesterol karkas dan bobot lemak abdominal ayam broiler.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui performa ayam Arab dengan pemberian kalsium dan fosfor melalui sistem bebas pilih pada sistem semi umbar dibawah kondisi tropik. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL). Perlakuan ada 4 dan setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Setiap unit kandang terdiri dari 18 ekor. Perlakuan yang diterapkan adalah sebagai berikut: P1: Pakan kontrol. P2: Pakan tinggi kalsium rendah fosfor (TKRF) dan pakan rendah kalsium tinggi fosfor (RKTF). P3: Pakan tinggi kalsium tinggi fosfor (TKTF), pakan tinggi kalsium rendah fosfor (TKRF), pakan rendah kalsium tinggi fosfor (RKTF). P4: Pakan kontrol, pakan tinggi kalsium tinggi fosfor (TKTF), pakan tinggi kalsium rendah fosfor (TKRF), dan pakan rendah kalsium tinggi fosfor (RKTF). Parameter yang diukur yaitu konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan (PBB), konversi ransum. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan sidik ragam ( ANOVA) dan jika berpengaruh nyata dilakukan uji Jarak Berganda Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan berpengaruh tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan, dan konversi ransum. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian kalsium dan fosfor yang berbeda kualitas dengan metode pemberian pakan bebas memilih pada ternak ayam Arab silver betina fase grower tidak mempengaruhi konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan, dan konversi ransum
