Abstract

Having the ability to write paragraphs is important, especially for students in higher education. Nevertheless, mastering the skill of writing is not easy, takes time, and sometimes is boring. Looking for the alternative leads the researcher to do research with the aim of finding the favorite topics of writing and understanding the difficulties in writing a paragraph using the psycholinguistics approach. Students are firstly given an explanation about the paragraph including the intrinsic and extrinsic elements of it. Then, they are instructed to write a paragraph in several steps but are free to choose their own topics. Their works then are analyzed in order to see the topic chosen by the students in writing paragraphs. Next, the analysis is focused on the structure and the ideas they deliver through the sentences. The results show that the topics chosen are about things related to their real life, like health, technology, food, sport, and natural disaster. Meanwhile, dealing with the structures and the ideas, the students’ works are divided into five categories. The two dominant categories are expected structure but unexpected content, and expected structure and expected content. Hence, the findings will be taken into the consideration for the lesson material. Besides, the student’s skill of writing and their problem in writing that is shown by the analysis of structure and content will be the focus of lesson discussion. Therefore, the students are expected to have fun learning in writing.

Abstract

Corona and COVID-19 become the headline of almost all newspaper articles. It leads to a curiosity of its accordance to World Health Organization naming policy since those terms are relatively new for Indonesian people. Reading the newspaper becomes the solution for updating the condition of the pandemic. Unfortunately, some of the most-frequently-read newspaper seems inconsistent in giving the name that makes them have different references. This research is aimed to see the use of corona and COVID-19 in news articles to see its accordance with WHO naming policy. The analysis was done using AntCont software to see the collocation of corona and covid; besides that, the theory of discourse pragmatic is used to interpret each term's meaning. The analysis reveals that the meaning interpreted in those newspapers is inconsistent for its collocation, conjunction, and writing style. The analysis and its result are expected to evaluate the newsmaker or news writer about giving the reader accurate information. Abstract

Kreativitas masyarakat meningkat seiring dengan meningkatnya pertumbuhan Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah atau UMKM. Namun demikian, diperlukan adanya peningkatan kualitas sumber daya manusia sebagai pengelola UMKM supaya bisnis tersebut berkembang dan produknya dikenali oleh para konsumen. Melalui Amikom Mitra Masyarakat, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan dengan mengadakan pelatihan dan pendampingan copywriting untuk membentuk merk dagang, membangun ciri khas produk dan mempromosikan produknya. Pada saat pertemuan pertama, terbukti bahwa para pelaku belum pernah mengenal dunia copywriting. Hal tersebut menjadi peluang untuk menambah pengetahuan mereka mengenai skill yang dapat mendukung perkembangan usahanya. Di sisi lain, latar belakang pendidikan yang bukan pada bidang kebahasaan serta kreativitas mengolah bahasa yang masih perlu dibangun menjadikan peningkatan kemampuan membuat copywriting tidak terlihat secara signifikan. Hal tersebut dianggap wajar karena untuk memiliki ketrampilan berbahasa dibutuhkan latihan yang terus menerus. Dengan meningkatnya keahlian tersebut diharapkan mampu menjadikan produknya memiliki daya jual yang kemudian berdampak pada perkembangan ekonomi di wilayah tersebut.

Abstract

Technological development leads to the creation of technological terms. The terms are dominantly created in English language. It affects the non-English technology-user. Many users are from Indonesia. In its usage, English terms are mixed with Indonesian. The mixture of language is indicated to interfere the Indonesian language users. In order to preserve the purity of Indonesian language, equivalent words to those technology terms are given. Nevertheless, the equivalent has not been optimally applied. Hence, there is a need for conducting community service activities entitle Sosialisasi Istilah Bidang Teknologi dalam Bahasa Indonesia Baku dan Penerapannya di Ruang Publik. The participants are students of Universitas Amikom Purwokerto. The activities are aimed to give the participants knowledge and motivation to use Indonesian technology terms as produced with the reference of English technology terms. Furthermore, there is also introduction about Seranai Padanan Asing Indonesia, one of the features that can be found in the web of Badan Pengembangan dan Pembinaan Bahasa, Ministry of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia. Students in higher education are regarded as a part of society that is expected to apply Indonesian equivalent terms of technology, at least in writing thesis or another formal academic text. They can utilize SPAI for finding the equivalent. By applying the Indonesian terms, they directly support the preservation of Indonesian languageTechnological development leads to the creation of technological terms. Abstract

Seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi dan perubahan gaya hidup, informasi didapat melalui beragam cara. Salah satunya dengan memanfaatkan fitur hastag pada takarir di Instagram. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui informasi yang dapat diperoleh dengan menuliskan hastag #purwokerto sebagai kata kunci di dalam kolom pencarian. Penelitian dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan pendekatan semiosis dan pragmatik. Hasilnya ditemukan bahwa beragam informasi dapat diperoleh melalui pencarian dengan menggunakan hastag #purwokerto.

Abstract

Ditengah pandemi COVID-19 mengharuskan semua pembelajaran dilakukan secara daring (dalam jaringan) atau online untuk semua jenjang pendidikan. Pembuatan media pembalajaran yang mendukung pelaksanaan daring (dalam jaringan) sangat penting dan dibutuhkan oleh semua guru, begitu juga dengan guru-guru di Kelompok Bermain dan Taman Kanak-Kanak (KB-TK) Kristen Purwokerto. Tujuan pelatihan pembuatan media pembelajaran ini adalah untuk memberikan wawasan baru bagi guru-guru di Kelompok Bermain dan Taman Kanak-Kanak (KB-TK) Kristen Purwokerto tentang pemanfaatan teknologi multimedia dalam mengolah dan menghasilkan media pembelajaran agar lebih menarik sehingga harapannya siswa tetap antusias dalam melaksanakan kegiatan pembelajaran daring (dalam jaringan) atau online. Media pembelajaran yang dibuat memanfaatkan aplikasi editor video Wondershare Filmora dan perekam layar Open Broadcaster Software (OBS). Diharapkan dengan adanya pelatihan ini para guru dapat mengimplementasikan aplikasi filmora tersebut untuk dapat mendukung pembuatan media pembelajaran selama pembelajaran daring dan menggunakan OBS sebagai cara penyampaian informasi tentang mata pelajaran yang baik dan menarik.

Abstract

Increasingly sophisticated technological developments create new ways for people to conduct trading business. An example of this technology application is the use of e-commerce. However, there are conditions where the seller cannot measure the level of satisfaction and identify problems experienced by his customers if it is only based on the rating as the case in smartphones transactions. Therefore, a solution is needed to create a system that can filter negative and positive comments. This study offers a solution to address this issue by using machine learning employing the K-Nearest Neighbors, SVM, and Naive Bayes algorithms with hyperparameters from previous studies. This study applied the ensemble learning method with the Voting Classifier technique, which is an algorithm to combine several algorithms that have been made. From the test results, the highest accuracy was obtained by SVM with an accuracy value of 91.18% while the ensemble learning method obtained an accuracy value of 89.22%. The difference in the accuracy of training and testing for SVM and ensemble learning method is 7.1% and 4% respectively. These results indicate that the ensemble learning method can help improve the performance of sentiment analysis algorithms for comments on smartphone products.

Abstract

Tingkat keterbacaan suatu teks dapat menunjukkan siapa target pembacanya. Sementara itu, berkaitan dengan aktivitas literasi yang dilakukan di lingkungan pendidikan formal, pembelajar diharapkan memiliki kemampuan membaca dan memahami berbagai jenis teks, baik teks ilmiah maupun non-ilmiah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui target pembaca artikel berita daring Seeker dengan melakukan analisis terhadap tingkat keterbacaan teksnya sehingga dapat atau tidak dapat dipertimbangkan sebagai salah satu materi dalam aktivitas literasi pada suatu tingkat pendidikan. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah artikel yang diambil dari laman daring Seeker dan yang diterbitkan selama bulan Mei 2022. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik catat. Setelah mengumpulkan data, analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan rumus Flesch-Reading Ease Test. Analisis juga dilakukan dengan menggunakan Gunning Fox Index. Dari analisis tersebut diketahui bahwa level keterbacaannya berada pada tingkat cukup sulit menuju sulit. Artikel dapat dibaca dan dipahami oleh pembaca atau siswa yang berada pada tingkat edukasi formal mulai dari kelas 10 ke atas.

Abstract

MSMEs are currently growing rapidly, especially MSMEs that provide social interaction services in restaurants or cafes. Social interaction develops along with the existence of social media. This has resulted in competition for MSMEs as social interaction service providers. Consumers who interact socially will return to transactions if they feel satisfaction when interacting socially. Therefore, realizing customer satisfaction is important for MSMEs, so that consumers want to come back and recommend it to others. This research aims to examine the effect of corporate image on social interaction satisfaction, examine the effect of social interaction services on social interaction satisfaction and examine the role of social interaction in mediating corporate image with social interaction satisfaction. This research was conducted on consumers who are socially interacting in restaurants or cafes in Purwokerto. The study was conducted in 58 restaurants or cafes with a consumer sample size of 310 respondents. The analytical tool used is a structural equation model (SEM) with PLS software. This study concludes with the effect of corporate image on social interaction satisfaction. There is an influence of social interaction on the satisfaction of social interaction and social interaction services can mediate the company's image with the satisfaction of social interaction.

Abstract

ABSTRAKGlory Learning Center (GLC) adalah sebuah lembaga bimbingan belajar bahasa Inggris untuk siswa TK yang telah bekerjasama dengan beberapa TK di wilayah Purwokerto, Purbalingga, Jatilawang, Banyumas, hingga Banjarnegara. Perekrutan pengajar di GLC lebih berfokus pada kemampuan calon pengajar dalam menangani siswa di kelas. Sementara itu, ketrampilannya dalam mengajar bahasa Inggris menjadi persyaratan tambahan untuk kegiatan pembelajaran di kelas. Akibatnya, terdapat keluhan dari orang tua siswa, seperti cara mengajar yang kurang sesuai dan pelafalan yang kurang tepat. Melihat permasalahan ini, pengabdian berupa edukasi dan pelatihan dilakukan agar mereka memiliki pemahaman tentang pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, khususnya untuk siswa TK. Pengajar diperkenalkan dan melakukan praktik mengenai cara menggunakan kamus daring yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai penunjang pembelajaran, khususnya dalam hal pelafalan. Survei pasca kegiatan menunjukan keberhasilan kegiatan dengan indikator kognitif para peserta. Sebanyak 80 % pengajar dapat memahami materi dengan baik dan dapat menggambarkan rencana implementasinya di kelas. Selain itu, terjadi peningkatan pada pengenalan terhadap kamus. Awalnya, hanya sekitar 20% pengajar yang mengetahui adanya kamus daring untuk pembelajaran pelafalan. Setelah kegiatan pengabdian dilaksanakan, seluruh pengajar memahami dan termotivasi dalam memanfaatkannya. Dengan demikian, kegiatan pengabdian ini memberikan dampak baik bagi pengajar, khususnya bagi mereka yang memiliki latar belakang keilmuan non-bahasa. Kegiatan ini juga meningkatkan nilai jual lembaga bimbingan tersebut karena memiliki sumber daya berkualitas yang menunjang kegiatan pembelajaran. Kata kunci: pembelajaran bahasa Inggris; TK dan PAUD; glory learning center ABSTRACTProblems in the beginner-level English learning try to be solved by a community service activity, Amikom Mitra Masyarakat scheme. It is carried out by giving education and learning to teacher in Glory Learning Center (GLC). Teacher recruitment at GLC is more focused on how to handle children in class and English teaching skills become an additional requirement. Seeing this problem, service needs to be carried out so that they will have a better understanding of English learning for kindergarten students. Hence, they not only convey the material based on the module, but also have consideration in delivering learning material and assessing student learning outcomes. Then, teachers are introduced to online dictionaries that can be used as learning reference, especially in terms of pronunciation. The teachers also practice to use the dictionary. Through the post-activity survey, it was seen that the activity was successful with the cognitive indicators of the participants. Teachers can understand the material well and can describe the implementation plan in class. Thus, this service activity has a good impact on teachers, especially for those who have non-language education background, as well as increasing the value of institution because it has quality resources. Keywords: english learning; kindergarten and early childhood education; glory learning centre
